    Looks more like a simulated 8x than 16x :/

It's because I was making moaic tiles, and if I tried to do them as 1x1 tiles, they end up looking too much like some rough weird pattern. But if you zoom in, those 2x2 tiles actually have multiple colors in them, not just one color (which would be a pseudo-8x).

No problem. It should also solve any issues you have with packs that have CTM.

Wools for my texture pack (Yes, I decided to start rolling with 16x after 32x gave me frustration):

And a look at them in-game (Notice the use of the 9 wools for braided design):

I don't agree that we should all be split like that. Perhaps the only split should occur for things like "purely music" packs, or such. But separating it down to the tiny stuff like "textures", "sound", "music", "combinations", and other such discrepancies would just create a rift in this tight-knit community.

For those who just go looking for packs (but don't make packs themselves), our community isn't so obvious. But we, texture artists, have a union in Texture Discussion, and with 1.6, we've all been discussing the possibilities that we can add to our texture packs, such as changing of music, sounds, etc., and if you were to say that those with music have to split off to a different forum, it would really just create a rift between artists that shouldn't be there.

The only changes that I think should happen are that:
    • Texture Packs forum should change to Resource Packs forum
    • Texture Discussion to change to Resource Discussion
    • Tagging format changed to reflect a pack's nature (i.e. if sound only, then include [Sound] or [Music] in topic title)

    That is all.

Mine? Not at all, although this is only around 40-50 textures added, and not all of them are being rendered here, there are a bunch of varients that aren't in this screenshot, but then i have a 3gb video card, i've yet to find a game i can't max the settings on with it and still get at least 30fps, so i'd say i don't really have the best setup for figuring out what the average computer can do.

However... I think the resolution of each tile has a lot more impact on performance GPU wise than the amount of different tiles, not to mention the fact that it's highly unlikely that someone's going to ever be in an area of minecraft that has all 500 of these tiles within their loaded chunk area. I mean, maybe someone will have 5-6 different varients of wool and clay at most, but come on, who's going to use all 32 in the same place?

Wait a second. If I understand this right... each of the tiles in those mosaics is its own block, right? If so, holy wow. That's even more awesome than the picture itself.

I really like the shingles and the hay. The only thing about the shingles is, how will it look on stairs/slabs?

    Hey everybody :D

No clue if this is the place for such questions... But I kinda had a random idea. My comp can't really handle constant play on some of the 1k+ resolution texture packs, but I'm generally fine with that because the terrain looks really weird in these "photo-realism" styles.

But, I was wondering if anyone has ever done super-HD mobs? Or knows a pack with some good ones I could use? (A lot of photo-realism packs don't actually seem to have retextured mobs...)

I think it would be cool to play with the default terrain, but high resolutions mobs. (Or at least try to)

    I've always liked vonDoom's mobs.

That's my total numbers of downloads on Real Photo Realism my texture pack (first and the last(until now) what do you say about it?
It was one of the first texture packs on monthly and total downloads actually , to be more precise it was the second after OCD.

    Shall I continue this ?

My heart says YES but my head says no....

My brain and wish to vicariously live through someone who could make lots of money through Curse rewards says yes do it. But my wallet and its empty spiteful jealousy of you says no. Take it down. Immediately.

See, I would join, but it'd mean that I have to have something downloadable (which I don't). I need to get to doing some serious texturing.

Actually, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe all of Steelfeathers' packs are made by hand using pixel art techniques.

There's also Pixel Perfection by XSSheep.

    I can name a few:

    Pretty Pixels
    Eldpack
    Dandelion
    Dragon Dance
    Mute

Those are just a few (obviously, not all of them are up to date). Honestly, it depends on how wide or narrow you're looking for in a palette. Pixel art can consist of a palette of ten colors, or 64. I'm personally working on textures that aim for only 5 - 8 colors per block.

Anyway, there's always the Simple Pack Showdown thread which has tons of great terrain.png files (that would need to be converted, of course), and lots of palettes.

I like the sidegrass. You're obviously going for a minimalistic style. Try checking out Xaiwaker or Frenden's packs. They're both good inspiration for what you're going for.
