Yeah I'd like to see a couple more actual weapons other than just sword, and bow. if thats what you mean.
A bigger torch as a weapon for example. Works like a club and causes a little bit of burn. Not necessarily setting everything on fire, but definitely hurting things that are vulnerable to fire more than usual. (using my other post as an example, stronger against spiders. Weaker against skeletons.)
Not sure if I like bigger torch as an additional weapon though. Just an example.
Warhammer? Huge hammer that crushes things good? Particularly smaller things? Particularly spiders?
Tricky subject though.
Adding too many weapons that do different things could ruin minecraft.
But just the right amount would make it even more brilliant, in my opinion.
Could go either way.
I both like and dislike this.
Doors should still be breakable.
but yeah should take a while.
Hopefully you can understand this next bit, cant quite think how to word it.
Upon placing a door, you should be able to modify the locks pins, so that only keys with teeth corresponding to the heights you set the pins at can open it.
And when you craft a key, you should be able to set the teeth heights.
Much like real keys. But you dont have to get locksmiths to do it for you and you dont have to wait 5 minutes while they grind the teeth to size. and you get to choose the combination yourself. =D
Also: lock picking. Not sure how to implement that though.
I disagree on some aspects.
While I agree on others.
Skeleton: Pickaxe would just go right through its bones, it should only really hit 1/3 of the time or something. Axe, sword, etc should do normal damage.
Bones dont really burn, thus skeletons shouldnt really burn either. Are they coated in petrol?
(its always confused me how they can shoot arrows though... from their mouth?
sharpened bones instead maybe please?)
Slime: I think water should enhance the slime. not kill it. "DONT LET IT NEAR THE WATER!! AHHHHHH **** ITS IN THE WATER RUN FOR YOUR LIVES" they should get faster if they touch water. would make them less viscous. But there should be a trade off in that they hurt less. Faster, but less painful. And perhaps too much water kills them, due to too viscous? But they should be programmed to attempt to get out of water before that happens to them.
Spiders should be weak against everything, because I don't like spiders. Creepy ****ers. Real life and minecraft. But specifically, fire. Fire should pwn the **** out of them.
Zombies should be left as they are. Normal damage from everything. A nice standard to measure things against.
I agree that creepers shouldnt be able to explode properly in water, but I disagree that they should give more gunpowder in water. They should give none at all in water, it would drift away / sink to the bottom in a manner similar to when you drop sand in water.
Overall I think that would greatly add to the combat system. As long as it made sense. But other things kinda need to be done first.
Yeah im pretty positive it was an overheating issue. Fan was going a bit nuts.
And since minecrafts pretty resource intensive...
It's a laptop with broken hinges, using a bass guitar amplifier to support the screen. (:
It just sits on a desk, but theres nothing immediately around it to inhibit ventilation.
I'm thinking about opening it up and getting rid of any dust inside it.. It's a couple years old now.
Also it was in the morning (around 1pm really.. but I'd just recently woken up so it still counts as morning) when it happened, and the shitty £2 thermometer in my room read around 28.
So yeah everything points to an overheat. :smile.gif:
While playing minecraft alpha today, my computer for some reason decided it didn't want to be on anymore, and so it turned itself off.
I was in the process of moving stuff from chest to chest.
After I'd started my computer up again I quickly checked my save wasnt corrupted or anything. It wasnt corrupted. Hooray!
But the chest I had open at the time of the event, the chest containing all my valuables, had just plain disappeared. :|
Three and a bit stacks of diamonds, just over 100 TNT, and many many stacks of iron bars and coal.
Gone. Lost in the void of "OH **** THE COMPUTER'S SHUTTING DOW-"
And thats my story.
**** collecting all that again, I'm editing my save to get it back to how it was pre-event.
I realise this thread is fairly useless to most of you, but still, had to vent that.
It'd be so much easier If it was all in one big .7z / .zip / .rar .............. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YJTQURPN
THERE YOU GO.
ALL OF THEM, ONE FILE.
Extract to ...\minecraft
Added bonus: I don't think there's a Mac port of 7zip
So, windows and linux users: ENJOY YOUR INSTANT NO EFFORT IN DOWNLOADING MAPS
Mac users: Unlucky. Get a better computer or turn it into a hackintosh.

Like in Zelda: Wind Waker.

It would need to change as different mobs were added too.
Spear would be hard to keep balanced, they'd have too much range. Unless they barely worked at close range. I don't know. I haven't thought about it.
