The only reason cats are interesting is because they are new. Wait a few weeks and they will be as boring as wolves.
Also, you don't have to pick between the two. You can have cats and dogs at the same time you know...
I know, I just don't feel the need to get a dog, seeing as creepers are really the only thing I worry about, my reason is not to compare, I would just like the Dog to have a few more Practical uses, is that okay with you? :smile.gif: its features need to do justice to its coolness and appearance.
I know, I know :dry.gif: But I have never been able to say my Minecraft Dog has done anything even remotely interesting so far, I want to bring back the magic feeling from when they first came out and they seemed really cool! :smile.gif:
Wolves follow you and kill everything except creepers.
Cats follow you, kill your chickens, and scare away creepers.
They can't be compared because they both have completely different uses. What cats can do the wolves can't and what the wolves can do the cats can't.
Therefore, no problem.
I understand where your coming from, but my problem is I feel much safer running around with a cat then a dog, it seems as if their damage is minimal, and really aren't very interesting as a mob, for example the approach of a cat feels more like its earned, and the fact that they have multiple colors makes them a interesting mob, you know what I mean? Also...
Because they are continually moving, wolves can receive fall damage when the player travels near cliff edges or gradual descents.
They will not actively avoid lava, cacti, fire, falling, or traps - even if the player navigates around these hazards, tamed wolves can be killed or severely injured on route to him/her.

Consider the following will you? Jeb recently added a new mob known to us as the Ocelot, which is appropriate because of the new option for cats or dogs as companions, yet, the Ocelots got a very unique a ability to "Scare Away" Creepers, And yet the Dog remains as useless as always, this is a big discouragement towards ever even wanting to tame a Dog, in fact, it seems to make it redundant to even consider, Dog's need to have some sort of ability to make them desirable in some way or another, like maybe being able to "Fetch" food perhaps, or at least something of equal desirability as being able to frighten Minecraft's most hated creature,
come on Mojang! Show some Doggy love!

On my server, a certain member decided he would grief EVERYTHING in the main town, (notice! this is before we had any protection! like a year ago!) so he went and completely destroyed it, so before I went on he remembered it was my birthday, so in order to not get caught, he decided to rebuild it so I wouldn't notice, so I came back the next day and sayed hey, he greeted me back, I then noticed my bed was in the wrong place, I asked him if he griefed something, just meaning the bed and he said "HOLY **** HOW DID YOU KNOW I BROKE YOUR WHOLE HOUSE OMG I'M SORRY!!!1" so I said "Wait What?" and his response was "****."
So what is ReptiliamFactions you ask? Well after some members of ReptiliamCraft started to get a little bored of the normal Minecraft, one of my Admins suggested we make a faction server, and so, Reptiliam Factions was born!
