The COG soldiers manage to shoot the left engine of the plane and the plane slowly descend to the ground. Miraculously, just as Reiki thought he was doomed, a group of pirates intercepted the COG planes and manage to shoot them down. Reiki managed to escaped with the help of the Pirates and flew to the nearest city.

Fears: women. Whenever Reiki get close to a woman, he will always have a flashback when his mother died protecting his sister and that makes him scared. However, he is not afraid of girls as they remind him of his sister which he needs to find.

They set off to the North where they hope to find a more safer settlement. However, their journey were cut off when they found themselves getting ambushed by some bandits. Reiki's father decided to attack the bandits instead of surrendering which cause him his dear life while his mother was shot trying to protect Airi. Reiki, full of anger decided to take his father pitchfork and stab one of the bandits who was pulling Airi's hair. The man died on the spot and Airi was free. He told his sister to run while he tried to buy her some time. As the other bandits surrounded him, he knew he was going to die and decided to surrender. In his mind he knew at least his sister was safe.
Reiki was beaten by the bandits severely until he was almost dead until a group of NCR patrols came and rescued him. They brought Reiki to an outpost and treat him until he was recovered. Reiki told the NCR his story and told them he need to find his sister. One of the NCR man decided to help him by training him how to use a gun and teach him basic combat training. A year after his training, Reiki decided to leave the outpost in search for his sister and if possible, find the men who was responsible for his family's death
