I tried disabling my antivirus and it made no difference. My java is the most recent one. When I use the "java" application with the optifine jar, a small window tries to appear but vanishes instantly. When I use "javaw" to try and open the jar, nothing happens at all except the cursor shows as loading for a fraction of a second.
I've tried everything. The "java" application, the "javaw" application, the "javaws" application. All the former in the 64-bit java as well as the 32-bit java. I don't have "javaw.exe" in either version, the closest I have is a "javaw" file that's an application.
Ok, I did everything, but when I clicked "javaw" the cursor showed loading for a second, but failed to open it. I found java in my (x86) folder by the way.
I downloaded the Optifine 1.8.8 .Jar file and double-clicked it. Instead of opening the gui like it did in all the tutorial vids I can find, it asked me to pick a program to run it with. Java is not included in this list. My PC is running Windows 10.
You guys I am so disappointed... Searge's code turned out to be nothing more than a Steam redemption code for a game...a code that only ONE PERSON could use! That's right. He created a community wide event, using Minecraft 1.9 screenshots with redacted content and even mentioned a "dark secret", only to have the reward not have nothing to do with 1.9. Not only that, there was no big announcement or reveal, or anything special at all. Talk about no climax.
EDIT: I just wanted to say that I absolutely LOVE the concept of the hunt, but I expect a real reward that will benefit the community as a whole, such as a snapshot, release date, feature confirmation, or even just an announcement of some sort.

I've been having a similar problem as well, but mines on 1.8.8.

We don't necissarily need more monsters, but we need to nerf armor and buff the current mobs.

For the spider problem, try open trapdoors.

There's something redacted in the photo Dinnerbone tweeted. Just above the rightmost monitor.

That's because hostile AI is completely broken in 1.8.

You guys are just seeing what you want to see. There is no probable cause to believe that what is hidden(in the air, I might add) is a turtle.

Shooting mechanics, maybe? If so, that confirms they are adding more than just fluff features.

Oh please, it was obvious that it was a joke. And besides, they were responding to a tweet from someone else.

But back on topic, these mobs seem to fit the same purpose as the witch. So I'll have to say No Support.
