They are back, but will they stay? Because Notch is thinking about getting a new official forum. If we get that, will we keep all posts?
Notch was thinking about making a new official forum "like" the one he posted. The data from this forum will stay. If we want something new, we have to figure out how to save everything from here, first. Worry not, Snowman.
I for one felt that with a little work that forum could shine like a diamond. Apart from the adword links, with a little customization that forum would be at least as good as this one. Haven't the moderators in this forum been talking about switching to phpbb, which, if I'm not mistaken, this new forum is based upon phpbb. Plus, we get private messaging of a
sort.
Yes, we want to switch over to a pHpBB forum. The issue is we want to do so without losing all of your posts and user info. That's why it's taking so long.
So all members here will be members there too?
Yes, all members here would be members of a pHpBB rebuild. What Notch set up, though, is NOT what Animator, aera, and Leonardo were working on. We were trying to do it internally (and still are). As is evident in Notch's newest blog post, it seems he (over)reacted to the wiki and forum going down yesterday, so he independently set up his own version of forums as a test.
We're still trying to convert, but lots of little things constantly get in the way.

Chrome is great, especially now that the Dev build has extensions, just like FF. I love most all Googley programs. FF is most definitely my secondary browser and was my primary until Chrome was released.
please, go ahead. Make sure to put as much detail as you can into it. Put links to each suggestion if possible.
Note, though, that I will immediately delete any thread attempting to do this but not meeting my requirements. I DO NOT wish to see a bunch of threads pop up.
If someone does this to my specifications, expect a special forum title. If someone tries this but fails to meet my expectations on the first attempt, you will receive a 3-day ban. Basically, unless you have time and will put a miraculous amount of effort into it, don't post a new thread.
That is all. Thanks.
Oh, and if a fellow moderator does this, damn. You're insane. Take a week off.

EDIT: Ninja'd. 95% sure we locked this at the exact same moment, Animator.

I'm sure that as soon as we feel that there are too many members to handle, we'll add more people to our team. Thanks for the concerns!

Check out the news and announcements section because we will be moving to a new forum platform soon anyway.
