    posted a message on How do I get more people on my minecraft server

    There are a lot of servers out there so getting and keeping players is not as easy as it once was. That being said your best bet is to have a plan for the server and stick to it. Don't add mods/gamemodes solely for the purpose of getting more people. If your server is about building big and nice places it is even harder to get people but once you get a few more will come.

    posted a message on Odd lan problem

    You say you turned off the firewall, did you do this on your computer or the computer hosting the game? By default Windows firewall will block outbound Java connections so if you only made this change on the host this is likely your problem.

    posted a message on all servers started to ping really bad, but my ping is low

    A 76 ping is still not bad. Comparing the ping of a speedtest to the server ping is misleading since when you run the speedtest it will try to find the closest location to you to test against. This could be only a few miles away where the server you join is on the other side of the world. Besides the not-so-bad ping of 76 are you having other issues?

    I would suggest you post some of the ideas that you need implemented. There are a wide range of developers and without knowing what your intentions are they might be hesitant to reach out.

    That being said, have you though about looking into development? Java is easy to learn and there is a lot of documentation for the Bukkit API. Not only would this help your server but its a good skill to take into Universities/Careers.

    posted a message on Cannot Join LAN Worlds

    Its likely that the computer that was hosting the game has their firewall enabled (windows does this by default) which would prevent your connection. Next time you will need to add an exception for minecraft (google can help you with this) and you should be fine.

    I can almost guarantee that somebody below will comment saying you need to port forward. This is not true since your friends are at your house and are already inside your network.

    Based on the information you provided it sounds like you want somebody to build you a server that has... everything. If you have specific questions/issues we can help you but you are going to have to provide more information first.

    posted a message on Unable to port forward

    I would suggest you post some screen shots of your setup (internal IP, public IP, port forwarding config, firewall settings). Even though you may sound like you know what you're doing we have no way of knowing it is correct and assuming it is correct could just take us in circles.

    That being said the most likely cause for your situation is that your public IP has changed. I would be surprised if your ISP gives you a static address as that is not common practice for a residential connection.

    posted a message on Is it possible to run a server on MS-DOS (The one from '81, not Command Promt)

    Short answer. No. Java didn't exist back then and even if a version was developed it would be unsupportable. You would also have concerns on how DOS handles multi-threading (which I don't think it does), network IO and memory swapping.

    Why do you want to do this? Is it just to remove the resource requirement of Windows, if so there are other solutions that don't require a 35 year old OS.

    Quote from JonDaBomb24»

    Ok, I was downloading the newer Java version (jre1..8.0_51) and it downloads to Program Files (x86) in the Java folder there. Is that the problem? The comp is 64bit and the Java thing that downloads is in the 32bit?

    This means you downloaded the 32bit version of java which is the default. You can change the path to include the x86 version of Program Files but using the 32 bit version will limit you on memory usage. You will need to download the x64 version manually.

    posted a message on .bat file isnt working

    If java is not part of your enviornment variables (which it sounds like it is not) you will need to provide the full path.

    "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_51\bin\java.exe" -server -Xms4096M -Xmx4096M -jar spigot-1.8.7.jar nogui

    Note that if there is a space in the path (like Program Files has) you will need quotes like shown.

    posted a message on Looking for potential host, have specific requirements

    I have been running a Minecraft server hosted out of my house for 4 years now. I will be moving within the next year and will likely be in a location with terrible upload speeds (like 5mbps max) and am looking for a host that could meet my needs.

    This is what I currently have and would need something equivalent:

    * 16GB Ram (negotiable)

    * 3.1GHz quad core CPU (negotiable)

    * 15GB of Minecraft worlds on SSD

    * 100GB of Dynmap on Spinning Disk

    * 4TB Storage for world backups (negotiable)

    * 1x MySql DB

    * Located East Coast USA

    * Spigot server 1.8+ w/ ~30 plugins

    * 85/85 Mbps Connection (negotiable)

    * 3-5 Players average 10-15 MAX

    * Dedicated IP (static optional)

    In addition to hosting I will also entertain offers relocate my current server (Tower unit, not rackmount) to your datacenter

    posted a message on No one can join my bukkit server anymore?

    Its likely that your public IP has changed. This can occur by having your router off for X minutes (based on your router & ISP) or perhaps your ISP has a lease time set for the IPs and your expired and was refreshed.

    I did i made both ports 25565 the ip is right in there so idk it might be them.

    99% of the time the problem is on the server side and not the client. Post screenshots of your firewall settings, port forwarding settings, minecraft configuration and the IPconfig results and we should be able to tell you exactly what the problem is, without this we are guesssing. That being said my 'guess' (very educated guess) is that your windows firewall is preventing the incoming connection, add exceptions for java.exe (be sure to use the x32 or x64 based on the version you are using to launch minecraft).
