A bug fix patch has been added for 1.10.2 and 1.11.2.

The last problem is on the silver sword, they are really effectiv on the werewolf but not in the right way. I fine the wolf bane effect unfair for the hunter and the werewolf. As a werewolf i can easly kill a hunter with a sword but i sure to die after (the hunter whit bow isn't effectiv at all). The witchery version of the silver sword was better: equal as a golden sword on normal target but damage x2 and armor ignore on werewolf. A lot of other way to improve this are possible.

The wolfsbane effect is actually not part of the silver sword. It's a effect hunters apply and the settings for it are incomplete. The effect however has now been temporary moved to only be applied on hard difficulty until it is finished. Silver sword currently deals 3x damage to transformed werewolves and 2x to non-transformed werewolves.

Sorry for the delay. A new wip version is available for 1.10.2. A 1.11.2 version should be released shortly. A 1.9.4 version will be released when the new version's 1.0 is finished. Information about the 0.6 version is available in the opening post.

This post is long overdue, I'm sorry for not responding for a while. I had to put this mod on hold for the past few months. The good news is work on this mod has started again. The bad news is the 0.5 version will not be compatible with the next release. The skill tree has been torn apart and replaced with another system which has more freedom and less balance issues. A beta version may be available in a week or two.

Great job Razmem. the new skill tree look awesom and far better than the previous systeme in every point. i think it would be better if the perdator vision skill was behind the night vision( just a detail).

Away from this i find the beast modele a little weird, i suggest to remove the neck cube, make arms a litlte bit longer, reduce the chest cube and make the leg less staigh and more "wolf like"

    all major bug i found:

    - on death, your skin and your form return to white werewolf.

    - the beast form make correctly 3 block height, but the wolf form make 2 block instead 1

    - xp stop at the level 50 even if you change the config file, but you can go higher by cmd

Thank you for finding the bugs with death and xp. As for the wolf form it's because of the way Minecraft handles pushing players out of blocks in a function inside the EntityPlayerSP class. It forces players to occupy 2 blocks high in order to determine if a player is inside a block. The only current solution I see to get around it is to either use the Player API mod or create a core mod (which will cause incompatibility issues). I prefer for this mod to not rely on another to work, but I'll try to make it work.
    Also Ailuranthropy is werecats.
    Quote from mineoncam»

Hey, this mod seems awesome! I was just wondering if you were planning on adding Ailuranthropy?

This mod will only focus on Lycanthropy. However after HMR's 1.0 release there will be a API that will allow add-on creations of other -thropys. But I have no plans to create them myself.

0.5Core is out for 1.9.4 and 1.10.2. As stated previously it only contains the basics. Extra mechanics such as Lunacy, Packs, villagers, hunters and such are disabled/unavailable. Not all the abilities are complete. The ability descriptions in the Skill Tree GUI will state will ones have missing functions.

Here are some tips for starting out in this version.

    There are 3 text commands

    /werewolf <true|false>

    /werelevel <amount> or /werelevels <amount>

    /werequest <amount> [calmPoints] [savagePoints] or /werequests <amount> [calmPoints] [savagePoints]

    Potion

Wolfsbane Potion is crafted just like regular potions now. Wolfsbane in brewing stand with Awkward Potion(Nether Wart)

    Paw ability

Werewolves start off with one toggleable ability, Paw. In the ability tab of the werewolf menu you can click it and choose which slot of the hotbar you want to keep clear of items. This is useful as quite a bit of skills require nothing in hand.

    Leveling

While you're transformed, you'll gain exp for each kill you make based on the heath of entity slain. Each level will give you a skill point which you can use in the skill tree in the ability tab of the werewolf menu. Every 10 levels you'll reach a cap, which will be unlocked when entering the skill tree gui (For this alpha core version only). You'll be present with a choice of either a Calm or Savage skill point. The level caps at 50 currently, however you can remove this in the config.

Surviving your first Full Moon night as a Werewolf

Player werewolves start out much weaker and with stronger negative effects (No equipped tools and armor). You can easily die if you're not prepared, as you can not leave the transformation during a full moon and you can not sleep as a werewolf. After being infected and you transform the next full moon night, you'll gain access to new tabs in the werewolf menu. In the ability tab there will be a button to go to the skill tree. You'll have 1 skill point to spend in the skill tree.

I HIGHLY recommend the first skill you choose is the 'Paw' skill (different from the one in ability tab), so you can hold items without dropping them. That way you can eat food to prevent starving instead of relying on kills which will be inefficient at this stage. Otherwise you best have a already made safe shelter you can hide in to wait out the night in a near death state from starvation.

The new version is going to require some more time. So instead of delaying it until it is fully complete I will release a essential/alpha version in a few days containing just the basics. Mainly: Transformation, Leveling & Abilities, and the basic Werewolf mob. It'll be compatible with the final version however your level may be adjusted. In the meantime here is a teaser of the skill tree.

Note: Design, textures, and skills are not finalized and subject to change.

Razmen, do you plan to make spawned werewolves have the beast model?

Not for the current versions, but for 1.9.4+ yes.

Since 1.9.4+ is going to take a bit more time till release here is some information.

The current versions (1.8.9 and older) are done and will no longer receive updates. As stated previously, the new version is progression oriented. Savagery is gone and in its place is a leveling system and a new Lunacy mechanic. Players who become werewolves start off much weaker but progressively become stronger with use of their form. Both player and mob Werewolves can become much stronger and can be far more dangerous then the current versions. No two werewolves, including players, will be the same. Increasing your level as a werewolf gives you skill points to choose what you want to unlock first and specialize in. However since werewolves are stronger, there are more dangers for them as well so it won't be completely one side. Hunters and silver exist.

    1. The game crashes if Thaumcraft isn't installed.

    2. None of the mod's items don't show up on the creative mode inventory's search function. They all show up on the mod's tab though.

    3. On an unrelated side note, this is my 100th post!

Do you have a crash log I can see? Otherwise which version, both the mod and Minecraft, is having the issue and any other mods installed? I haven't been able to encountered either of the issues in the latest versions.

The new 1.9.4+ version won't be ready this month, I'm sorry. I'll try to get it out mid September. In the meantime however, I have released a small update for 1.7.10 and 1.8.9 including the WIP models to play around with.
Note: custom textures must be updated. All the models share a 128x128 texture. Additional these models, mostly the Beast one, is a WIP model and is subject to change for 1.9.4+.
    Quote from Killerwolf1810»

I suggest there should be different cries for the werewolf and perhaps in the menu you can toggle the cries? Also there could be a random cry mode.

    Thanks

I'll try to add more sounds and options for werewolves for the new version, but it may be part of a small update after release.

okay thank you and can you make a dire wolf by a regular tamed wolf when you aren't a werewolf or do you have to be a werewolf to create dire wolfs with the savagery potion?

You have to be a werewolf to turn wolves into dire wolves, as they'll only obey werewolves.

When i go into the menu (pushing k) it isnt there and it doesn't show up in the book

Also do you have an estimate (if you add it) when we can turn npc's?

In an estimated amount of time

Are you a werewolf when trying to access the menu? It is only available when the player is a werewolf. NPC infecting is in the upcoming 1.9.4/1.10.x version, it won't be available for the other versions.

Hey Razmen! What's your policy on Let's Play series? I'm most likely going to be starting an LP soon, and I'd like to add Howling Moon to the modpack... if not this time (I'm not sure it would fit with the theme of what I want to do for my first series, unfortunately, but... we'll see ;) ) then in a later series. I'd give all credit for the mod to you, of course, and while I might like to monetize the series/take donations for it, I wouldn't be selling the mod itself or anything like that. It would basically be free advertising for Howling Moon, lol

Thanks, and hope to hear from you soon!

    -Jay

I don't mind, as long as credit is listed it can be used in LPs even if monetize.

    Quote from DemonWolf115»

oh thank you and when will be the next update ?

and could you please add that for 1.7.10

    :/

All I can say is sometime next month. I'll include it in the small update for 1.7.10 & 1.8.9 which will be shortly before 1.9.4/1.10.X's release.

Hey I just downloaded the mod today (fantastic by the way) and i was wondering how i would turn other players or npc or something like that because i also have mca so if you could respond to this quickly i would very much appreciate it and also there is no more lift and throw and i was wondering why it sounded amazing!!!!

    Hey YALLLL HEY YALLLLLL!!!!

To turn other players into werewolves, attack them while transformed. PvP needs to be enabled for it. NPC can't be inflected in the current version. I'm not sure what you mean with Lift and Throw, it's a T5 savagery ability (Max/10,000+ savagery) and needs to be equipped in the ability menu to use.

    because i don't find any werewolf :/

Werewolves and Dire Wolves currently only spawn in vanilla biomes (Forest, Taiga variants, and plains(Weres only)). The next version will take other mod's biomes into account for spawn. Sorry for the inconvenience.

1.1 is finished. Additionally this is the last update for 1.8, and may be the last update for 1.7.10 & 1.8.9 version. If enough people want it I may release a small update for 1.7.10 & 1.8.9 adding additional transformation models. But the rework/sequel for the newer Minecraft versions is the focus.
    Quote from werff»

the 1.1 version will be for 1.9 or for 1.8.9?

Also, the 1.9.4 forge is more stable, in terms of fps too XD, tan the 1.9, just saying...

    1.1 is for 1.7.10, 1.8, and 1.8.9 only.

As for the 1.9 version rework. It would be for the highest 1.9 version at the time of release, which is 1.9.4. However now that 1.10 is out, I might just skip 1.9.4 for 1.10.?.
