Haven't seen anyone agreeing with the geniuses at Mojang that ruining the horse model and animations was a good thing. I'm with the masses thinking that it's just objectively a bad change. This update is going to severely neuter my enjoyment of building animal ranches in vanilla. As I said in another thread, it doesn't match the quality or complexity of recently added models, like bunnies. The change is one of pure sabotage, going along with some falsely professed ideal that Minecraft is supposed to look blocky and bad. It likely stemmed from some old, very minor drama over part of a mod being added, and looking better than what was in the game at the time. I think the Dr. Zhark horse model should be an example of what all mob models should look like, cows look stupid, and so do futile attempts to make derp horses pass inspection.
As Ravage656 said, how about improving the other models instead of downgrading the game? Making the game worse doesn't sit right to me, I don't care for the justification that Minecraft is supposed to look terrible. Of course not changing the horse model means the 3D artist who did it is being called a failure - which they pretty much are, if you look at those attempts - but being stubborn isn't a good thing here; the game is supposed to be produced for customers, not as an ego trip.
The texture changes seems like a move to get rid of or pave over anything Notch did, just for the sake of doing that. Here we contradict "Minecraft must look blocky and bad as Notch designed it." Nothing to do with improvement, everything to do with bad office politics and a lasting grudge his previous employees have against him. Unfortunately it's not even a good default replacement, but just an edit of the vanilla textures that looks like many of the worse amateur attempts. The new textures look muddy and bad, and the artist is one who holds himself as immune to criticism. With the change in art direction, this is going to be rather annoying for anyone who preferred the old textures.

I'm sure tutorials will show up once its been made available and properly fleshed out. I almost never play on PC anymore as each new version of minecraft always has worse performance issues than the last.

Except for me they never want to sit on bibliocraft chairs.

I'm not fond of the new horse model one bit. if anything it's the cow and pig that need model upgrades, not downgrading the horse model. Their faces are too flat. I really hope all the feedback gets us the proper horse model back.

This is very promising. maybe I do have a few suggestions to improve upon.
1) wander mode: As opposed to sitting in place all the time, the tamed mob will wander aimlessly like an iron golem/snow golem until it sees another hostile mob to attack. Useful if you want it to guard a specific area. or this can work if the tamed mob wants to explore on their own. (in this mode they could avoid trouble by simply not attacking other hostile mobs.)
2) Rain detection: If not following the player, the tamed mob will try to avoid rain in wide open spaces (unless the mob benefits from rain) but not snow, much like undead mobs trying to avoid sunlight by taking cover in nearby caves and under trees. Little maid mobs do this as well.
3) Peaceful-friendly tamed mobs. For me this is more of a personal reason. Staying in peaceful to keep the game's performance up since I'm always trying to keep fps at a tolerable threshold, combined with Minecraft's performance bogging down when playing for long periods of time. I always spend most of my time building anyway. Also so golems won't attack the tamed mob on sight.
4) A summon and dismiss mechanic. Lycanites mobs does this with tamable mobs where the tamed mob can be summoned at will as well as dismissed when not needed. Long cooldown to avoid being exploited.
5) tamed mobs can use wooden doors (if they can fit through it.)

I got another idea.
Guardian Pet
allows clearer vision underwater
unhindered movement while underwater
unhindered mining while underwater
armor piercing laser attack (right click)
favorite food: raw fish
best used alongside the squid pet.

I have a pet suggestion!
Skeleton Pet:
Immune to arrows. right click to shoot an arrow
Favorite food: arrows
Sometimes gives you: bonemeal

that's a nice touch.

I still have the 1.5.2 version

On a plus note, I found a leopard moth in the caveworld dimension and a white morpho in the jungle. I added them to my enclosure of live specimens.

Idk how to multi-quote but the problem was with both mods installed fish from aquatic abyss would spawn out of control in the twilight forest, hitting a 1600+ entity count near any river.
