    Resignation

Last week, some things developed in real life that prevent me from continuing with my commitments regarding Minecraft and gaming, in general. It is with a heavy heart that I have spent the last several days working with MisterFiber to transition the mod's development assets to him.

Completely by coincidence, we recently added Exterminator Jeff to our team. Jeff shares my philosophies on mod development and MisterFiber has selected him to replace me leading the development effort. Jeff and I have discussed the plans I had for ExtrabiomesXL and I know he is capable of fulfilling the vision. Please welcome and support him the way you have me.

I doubt much will change, as I heavily relied on my teammates--most of what you see day to day is them. The team is committed to success and I look forward to seeing what they produce in the future.

I have been very verbal about my appreciation for this community. As I exit, I hope that many of you will recognize the efforts that those on this team make every day and that you will have respect for the examples they lead. This thread is different than others because of their commitment to patience and politeness. I would ask you to follow their lead.

I realize that this announcement is rather dramatic. I personally hate drama and apologize to you for that aspect of this. I can assure you that my reasons for leaving are actually rather banal.

Thank you for all of your support and encouragement over the last several months!

    Scott

heres a link to full details

Well I was afraid of that.

Whats happening is your video card is doing most of the leg work for you to play minecraft. When you add in Thaumcraft your asking more of your cpu which in turn is asking for more memory. The problem is that windows is consuming most of your available resources while running in the background. Fixing this little issue is a bit more of a pickle when using a laptop since it's a little more difficult to just add in more memory. I would have you increase the size of your paging file, but with your hard drive that won't help all that much.

On my laptop what I do is keep a 32gb flash drive with a paging file using windows ready boost.

Ok, i know this is probably been answered somewhere in this thread but i dont really have time to read through almost 500 pages,
I have planted two silver saplings but neither is growing(been over a week at least game time). also I have the goggles and the aura meter says there is 600+ around but my wands wont charge. please help :(

Sounds like your out of range of the node. Try moving the trees closer to it (find the point where you wands start to recharge) then just walk you new node back towards your base using trees.

I have 180GB free in the OS partition. And the 20GB free at minecraft partition.
Java is using 1GBthe ram, but the F3 function said that minecraft uses 50% top.
I have 4GB phisical ram and an i7 with 8 logical cores. There's no background programs (except OS).

Ok I'll answer this more in depth when I get home from work. Long story short your running out of memory.

In the mean time what are the actual specs of your hard drive?

    Hi, This is important!
I have a loose of 20+ FPS whit using this mod.. I usually play with 40-60 FPS, but now I'm stuck in 20 FPS. If I remove the mod, the FPS go up again to 40-60.
The aura nodes are that laggy? I have 8 cores and a Gefore 540, so I don't think that's a hardware problem. Maybe the Golems?

How big is your hard drive and how much space is filled?

How much memory is allocated to java?

How much ram/paging do you have?

Slim possibility that perhaps you heavily drained the node in the past, and it burned though a lot of infused ore to refill. Now it is trying to re-balance the vis back into the ores. Slim, but possible. Also make 100% sure there isn't a 3rd node in the mix. There could be a potential 3rd node that is just small enough to be hidden and sucking stuff up causing a mess. And usually underground nodes have a higher chance of being of an undesirable wisp producing variety, at least based on my experience.

The vis is apparently going somewhere, and without any of us being able to jump on his world and see whats going on for ourselves figuring out where may be a bit of a problem. Hell at the moment I'm wondering if he may have somehow caused an infinite loop.

Edit: Now that I think about it Izidore try draining some more vis out of the system and see what happens.

I am kind of at a loss here and could use some ideas.

I seem to have a vis leak somewhere.

I have not been doing anything (or very little anyway) with TC3 over the past few days and my main pure node seems to me slowly loosing vis. Now, it is being recharged from other nearby nodes so it stays within a few point of its max but it is continuous.

All of my TC3 tools/wands are fully charged and are not drawing anything. I have no furnace/bellows. I even went around and deactivated all of my golems and collected my marker blocks to see if that was the cause....no change.

The ONLY thing I can think of is if warded stone or warded glass uses a small amount of vis....I didn't think it did but this is the ONLY thing I have near the node that is TC3 related.

I have been doing nothing for the past few days except some vanilla MC stuff and my main node just keeps sucking vis from surrounding nodes and my flux level has gone from minimal to high.

BTW this is a single player game so its not like someone skulked in and set up a TC lab under mine.

    I'm at a loss.

That is interesting. Do you you have any other nodes (possibly underground?) that might have accidentally been drained?

I had searched to see if anyone brought it up with Azanor considering Thaumium with Metallurgy ores, and they did and he believes it's nothing to do with Thaumcraft itself. He suggests that perhaps metallurgy changes how vanilla harvest levels work with vanilla materials. As Thaumium is set one below Diamonds in otherwise vanilla minecraft. Does Metallurgy change how harvest levels work at all? According to the chart Diamond can't get adamantine ore, but I think thaumium was breaking it pretty easy last time I used both mods together.

There was a Forge change between TC2 and TC3 that is causing the Thaumium pick to ignore it's harvest level. It's something for Azanore to look into later when he has more time.

Had a strange happening in my world, been working with aura nodes, merging a few and had a 765 one sitting outside my new Thaumcraft room and while I was setting up the inside the node just up a moved INTO my TC room all by itself, now I have this large node sitting inside my Thaumcraft room, is this suppose to happen? it was sitting quite nicely outside my door on a totem and Crystal Core Construct.

Nodes tend to affect each other like gravitational bodies. This can cause them to move in unexpected ways; especially the larger ones that can affect each other from farther away. Your best bet would be to just move it back and hope the other node has moved out of range or was swallowed up by a larger one.

Just digging up this post to reiterate the problem between Thaumcraft's thaumium pickaxe and Metallurgy. The guys at Metallurgy say they don't change anything in concerns of how what mines what. I'd like to note the last time I used a thaumium pickaxe it *was* mining obsidian, even though you said it isn't supposed to. Honestly thaumium was acting like a complete replacement to diamond in many ways.

Edit: Tested it again right now. Thaumium pickaxe, with just forge and thaumcraft installed. It was mining obsidian, but only taking slightly longer (~1 sec) than diamond.

Edit2: Installed RedPower2 and Metallurgy 2. Redpower 2's gem pickaxes work similarly to how thaumium should work (though I think thaumium should be stronger than the gems).

Diamond pickaxe stops mining Metallurgy fantasy metals on the third to the last ore type of that submod (can't mine Orichalcum, Adamantine, and Atlarus).

The gem pickaxes stop a few ores prior to that (can't mine Astral Silver, Carmot, Mithril, Rubracium, Orichalcum, Adamantine, and Atlarus).

The thaumium pickaxe mines *all* of these. I think the inclusion of RedPower2 in this test shows that it's Thaumcraft that is the problem, not Metallurgy 2 itself.

This is being caused by a change in the forge code between TC2 and TC3. While it may seem like a big issue it really isn't and Azanor can look into later when he gets more of his own mod finished.

I recently dropped Factorization myself for the very same reason.

Just ignore the detractors, you have done something that Neptune has been asked for repeatedly and refused to do. If all the work here is indeed your own, and you can weather the storm no doubt coming your way then I will certainly add this mod to my own list.

Shadow it's sad to see you go. You have brought this mod a long way from some fairly humble beginings.

Rebel K. you're a great modder and I am confident that the mod is in good hands. I'm neither a coder or an artist but let me know if their is anything I can do to lend you a hand.

Hey Azanor I've found an interesting bug, although I no longer believe it to be yours.

I restarted my server and found one of your towers with a wall missing in a village close to spawn. It was the wall with the ladders which were strangely enough still there, and climbable. After checking out the village a bit more I found a few others with small bits and pieces missing; it just seems yours was the hardest and most visibly hit.

I have video or if you want you can come check it out for yourself.

    Is this in SMP?

I did some testing of my own and there is defintely some wierdness in SMP, though it seems to have more to do with the fact that the items seems to get ejected out of the mirror 'block' when the player isnt around. Even if I surround the mirror with a tube of stone to direct the items, I would find a bunch of items outside this tube when I return to that world. It is almost like the block becomes a full 1x1x1 cube once the player isn't around to observe it. I hereby dub this bug the Quantum Cube Conundrum.

No worries, I hope to have it fixed by the next release.

Ssp I have'nt put the new version on my server yet
