Minecraft is a game largely played by children, so, should they start using our mod, we have a duty to educate them about dinosaurs in the most accurate and up-to-date fashion possible. Giving them the choice between a featherless and feathered T. rex will have a chance of making kids think that T. rex may have been bald, and because feathers APPARENTLY aren't as scary as scales (ugh), they'll probably go for the bald option, even though evidence points to T. rex having at least some feathers. That's just one example, but I think it makes my point pretty clear. We shouldn't let people choose between the truth and the lies.

TL;DR I'm against Feather toggles and such. Give people the real animals they deserve.

I agree with you, I was just saying how the system works and how far it can go. :)

New one was proven to be another species, so an option shouldn't exist.

You're right, but in any case I think that it would be really interesting having both models in game; that's the power of genetics, right? And I believe that everyone would support that, because making one is the player's option.

As the owner and main coder of this mod, I would like to clarify a few features of this project:

    1) Players have to follow the evolution path of the species to recreate any extinct creature or plant.

    2) Players have total control of what the species will be. This also includes different scientific views, for example, the old and new Spinosaurus or a feathered and scaly T-Rex, or even different tree sizes.

    3) This is not a time period mod. If you are interested on that concept, I would recommend Project Genesis, PaleoCraft and It's about time mod.

    4) This is not a mod based on Jurassic Park franchise, so do not expect hybrids in this mod.

Our team is grateful for everyone that supports this project.

Neat. Btw, I say that this mod is like a hybrid of JC and FAR (Fossils And Archaeology Revival) because the Utahraptor in the first picture looks like it is from JC, and the prehistoric bird in the second photo looks like it is for FAR. Oh, one more thing, what animals do you plan on adding into the mod? Will there even be modern day animals as well, such as a monitor lizard to bring Mosasaurus back if you plan to add that species?

Yes, it is planned. Starting a new branch from a fossil or from a living creature is possible; however, creating a living creature for that particular reason would be much more realistic and fun. This is probably going to be added in the future. :)

    De-Extinction Mod

Every living thing that has ever existed eventually died. On the one hand, some have managed to evolve, and have continued to live in another way. On the other hand, other creatures have not survived, and went extinct. Some of the most impressive creatures went extinct, creatures that we want to be back!

De-extinction mod is a Minecraft mod that provides everything you need to bring extinct species back to life. You have to explore, hunt for fossil, study them, and finally clone what you want.

Well, that is not an easy task. DNA cannot survive for a long time, so how can we manage to clone an extinct creature? De-extinction! Extinct creatures are somehow still alive today, coded in the DNA of every cell of their living relatives. We just have to undo or redo evolution. In other words, why shouldn’t we create a dodo or velociraptor from a chicken?

    How to play?

    How are fossils arranged?

Fossil are spawned in a realistic way. The world it divided in regions that represents time periods, such as Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous. Only fossils of creatures that lived in their respective time period can spawn in the region. In addition, fossils from the same creature tends to be distributed near to each other; if you find two fossil blocks, there is a high probability that they are from the same creature. So, prepare your equipment, and let’s hunt for fossil!

    How are fossils collected?

Fossil are extremely fragile and will break if collected in the wrong way. You must encase it with plaster before mining. To do that, you need some plaster burlap strips, made from water, plaster powder, and paper. Plaster powder can be obtained heating gypsum powder in a furnace. Once you have you plaster jacket, you can clean it using a cleaning table to obtain your fossils.

How to research an extinction species?

First, you need a genetic research station, which is your workspace to create these creatures. Next, you need to research a certain percentage of the creature closest relative’s DNA. For instance, if you want a dodo, you should start researching chickens. When you have gathered 50% (in this case) of the chicken DNA, you can start researching the Dodo DNA. If you have 50% of the Dodo DNA researched, you can now make your Dodo eggs! Remember, you have to follow the lines drawn by evolution. The same method applies to plants, but you need a botanic research station as a workspace.

How to clone an extinction creature?

In order to clone a creature, you need at least 50% of the DNA studied. You also need some nutrients, obtained from most foods, to make an embryo. Lastly, you need a container for you embryo; it can be an eggshell or a syringe, depending on the creature, or a seed or sapling, depending on the plant.

Is there any variation or control when cloning?

Yes, there is! The more you research, the more you can customize your creatures! You can decide if it should be a male or female as well as how it will look.

    How to hatch an egg?

Egg can be hatched in an egg nest. Egg nests are affected by the surroundings, such as light, rain and water. I will always hatch the egg; however, in order to hatch it faster, the egg nest should be warm; otherwise, it will take a long time to hatch. Warmth can be obtained from natural and artificial light as well as a dedicated mother.

Do you want to be part of the team?

This mod aims realism and scientifically accurate models (that doesn’t mean a super detailed model); however, it can also support a little bit of fantasy, such as turning off the feathers. If you like our mod and want to be part of the team, helping this project with your talent, please send me a private message. We would appreciate any help.

If you are using techne, try tabula. Tabula does the same things, but better, in my option.

This mod is awesome. When will the fossils be usable in the dna extractor? Currently they cannot be put in there; only skin or meat can be used.

Edit: Whoops, turns out the bygone age/fossil hunting stuff is still being categorized under their separate mods. Please get this fully merged into Jurassicraft. I'd hate to have to sift through several tabs to get the needed supplies.

You don't have a right version.

because the mod does not remove the side mods, the bygone age and others?

I don't know what you are talking about... They've been removed for a long time.

Thank You ! What is "ON" ?

"On" means that your fence is on and will deal some damage if something touches it.

What is the craft of the fence ?

    Corner piece: iron block surrounded by stone blocks;
    Fence Base: a stone row with an iron row below;
Fence pole: a middle iron column in the middle and 2 stone column in the sides.

You have to place 2 corners and some base blocks between them. Then, add some poles to the corners. Add some redstone and iron to the GUI. Each wire block costs 1 iron ingot and 2 redstone dust. If you have the required materials and there is nothing in the path, you can build you fence. The size of a segment is only limited to the amount of materials you can have in the GUI.

Note: In the GUI, always select the right side to do that you want. Remember, when you turn our fence on/off or build it, the GUI is reset, so you have to select the right side again.

I hope that helps you guys :)

    1: You're welcome!

2: I have to report something! If you put Tylosaurus in a river, he starts having seizures! Also, Cearadactylus doesn't fly at all in the latest build!

About the Cearadactylus, it will not fly by itself... BUT you can ride and fly it. The self-flying ai was disable to code that. :)

Man, I love it how Rafael turned from an AI coder to an AI/mob coder and animator.

In general, all the coders are awesome. I have a feeling they'll soon gain the power to do the impossible.

    Thanks PCA! :)

Actually, I am a general coder... I know a little bit of everything, hahaha. But yeah, you should expect some new (and awesome) animations soon!

Btw, if you guys find any weird AI, please tell the group. The whole AI system was rewritten and some strange behaviors might happen.

It's nice to see people that are still interested in this mod!

At the moment we have implemented 4 medabots, a dynamic system for the medaparts, medabot stats changed depending on the medapart, level of your medal and usage (experience), and a basic AIs, such as follow and attack if owner is attacked/attacking.

Actually, what we really need is a person that can create models and textures for the game.
