    Can you please tell us if/where you found a 1.8.1 modloader please? I'm having the same issue (Tale of Kingdoms *apparently* doesn't like the latest, greatest version of modloader).

    nvm ... found it on Risugami's Mods thread (link to 'Old Versions').

    Just created a new RAMDISK VirtualBox and updated with the new server files, created a new pure world, deleted it, and copied my backed up archive files to ram-worlds.

    I always have to force stop worlds because after copying from the Windows host box to ram-worlds, status shows World x up, (but it's not, yet)...no big deal, Force Stop > start.

    Wrote my crontab jobs, tested everything, chose Yes to upgrade minecraft client, and it's all good, including maps created from the WebGUI. This may already be known, but the snapshots are created on sda2/minecraft/snapshots ? Again, no big deal, but they aren't visible from the http://<server ip> index page.

    Now if only Zan's Minimap was updated for 1.5 :smile.gif: ...haven't messed with bukkit yet, is there a comparable minimap?

    Grats you all!

    Downloaded the mineos+_v0.1.0.iso
    Used Transferring Worlds and WinSCPto backup a world.
    Created a new RAMDISK VB, fresh install with the release .ISO
    Used WinSCP to restore the backup world...

    Status showed 'world up', without even starting (wasn't up), force stopped all, tried starting the world, and consistently got:

    {'world': 'two', 'command': 'start'} starting up world...
    using port: 25565
    world two: down

    ...Used Update Server Files and world started.

    Just sharing my experience. All is working well, checked maps...was patient...and they work fine. Haven't tried the other perks yet, but very happy for you all. Good job!

    Ha, thanks, I see both 13 and 14 now, I'd grabbed the whole ISO earlier -- no big deal, extracted the new tcz from it, have the new commands, Thanks for 14 and thanks for the grub splash fix!

    Maybe Sourceforge is malfunctioning, but I can see the new testbuild13_tcz folder, and SF states:

    Totals: 1 Item 569.3 KB

    ...but the file isn't present. I logged into Sourceforge, but still no file. Odd?

    EDIT: ...grabbed the whole ISO, extracted the new tcz from it, have the new commands, Thanks!

    Phantom and Nick,

    As y'all work on MineOS+, please put an ability to set local time zones in the ToDo list.
    It isn't critical, but it does seem to drive some folks nuts.

    Added set time zone to local option during install to todo list.

    +1 on the time zone ability
    +1 on the 64-bit version being a priorty
    +37 or so, on the continuation of the project and communications.

    Quick question from a not-quite-proficient=yet xnix hack: can someone guide me to a post on how best to upgrade from v.11 to v.13 of the ISO and retain sda2 and sda3 (RAMDISK install).

    Many thanks.

    Well, found the archive command -- I think somewhere back in this thread:

    /usr/games/minecraft/python admin_console.py archive one

    ...and have added this to my crontab:

    0,45 * * * * cd /usr/games/minecraft; python /usr/games/minecraft/admin_console.py archive one

    ...but bummer, can't find how ftpput can rename the archive file

    /mnt/sda2/minecraft/archive/one/world-one_2011-03-24_02:51:35.tar.gz

    ...to something without ":" in it, so Windows will stop complaining. More learning to do on my part. I might have to learn how to adjust the python script to just name the archive to ...20110324_025135.tar.gz ?

    I set up a server last night for me and some friends, and it all worked fine.
    I come back today and start it up and I cannot connect.
    MineOS web interface says everything is working.
    But when I or a friend tries to connect, it either says connection refused or timed out.
    I have port forwarded 25565 and assigned a static IP, everything I have read.

    Please help?

    DarkRising101: I've noticed Internet Explorer (maybe Firefox and other browsers too), isn't refreshing the current status of the server. For instance, if I've had IE open for a while, and go back to it, and 'status' check, I'll get "...world one: up" but the other commands (i.e. backup, restore, etc.) just fly through the commands, not actually performing the function. My answer has been to close IE completely, reopen it (WebGUI should ask for your login credentials again - that indicates it's speaking with the server) then perform your status check, start, etc.

    Also, please see Cordeval's reply post to me a few posts up in regards to rebooting. Hope this helps, but unfortunately I can't be more immediately helpful due to my newbness right now.

    Question to follow on - does anyone know a way to automate this so if there is ever a problem with VirtualBox our world is still safe?

    I've managed to automate it (this way for now) using FileZilla Server and WinSCP scripting, although this relies on keeping the FileZilla server service running on the host (right?).

    NOTE: I'm going to be reading up on how to crontab the archive function, then ftpput it next as a permenant solution -- Can someone help me write this please? (thanks)...but for now:

    Essentially, use WinSCP to view both host and VB machine, save the session (save password too), then build your WinSCP script (on the Windows box) and a [Windows] batch file, then use [Scheduled tasks in Windows] to automate the batch file every x.

    Oh also has any one been able to make the map image making tool work?

    I was wondering about this too -- I think I recall reading about this somewhere...will try to find if it *should* be working.

    Much obliged Cordeval.

    And crond was indeed at /etc/init.d/services -- I updated that line.

    Thanks for your work on this and everyone's help. I admit I've not read through all 65 pages of this thread yet, but will if necessary.

    I have mineos setup on virtualbox using RAMDISK as instructed in the video tutorial.

    The server is operational, and has been stable, and accessible from the WEBGUI, however, if I reboot it, world one is not automatically loaded (this may be intended? - as sda1 is ramdisk, but sda2 does have my backups and archives. I have the paths set correctly:

    MC_PATH=/usr/games/minecraft/ram-worlds
    ARCHIVE_PATH=/mnt/sda2/minecraft/archive
    BACKUP_PATH=/mnt/sda2/minecraft/backup
    PLUGIN_PATH=/mnt/sda2/minecraft/plugins
    SNAPSHOT_PATH=/mnt/sda2/minecraft/snapshots
    JAVA_PATH=/usr/local/openjdk-7/jre/bin

    ...and I can create World One again, then Restore, but still, do I do it this way (recreate one every boot?)

    I ran the cron job script, rebooted as instructed and still:
    {'world': 'one', 'command': 'status'} world one: not-found

    ...so I recreate it and restore the last save.

    Am I doing something wrong please?

    Thanks again.

    EDIT:
    P.S. Oh yeah one more question: what's the best way/tool to copy from sda2 to the local host machine or usb thumb drive to have an external backup as well? Thanks.

    Nevermind that P.S. found WinSCP, but the first few questions remain please and thanks.
