Ok say your a new server owner that either got server.pro or bought a server for a month and don't really have money to keep a server running what's the first thing you think of. Of course I have no idea what I'm doing or I'm to lazy to do configs expect like perms or maybe essentials and multiverse. The first game mode that comes to mind those is factions because there is a plugin for it and you don't have to do anything but set warzone and spawn and then your good.
Ok sure it's good to learn how to do perms and all that but if your serious about doing factions be creative!!!!!
I've seen so many servers die after 1-2 months because either no one plays it or lack of funds and I don't want that to happen to anymore servers so here's my guide to have a higher chance of being successful in any gamemode.
1. Make a server with friends:
(I know this be obscure but they know you personally and they'll take time to help you out to see your thing completed)
2. Be creative with your ideas and take others ideas:
It never hurts to plan ahead it may help you in a long run also taking ideas from others will always help you except if they are just stupid.
3. KNOW HOW TO DO YOUR OWN CONFIG!!! ( Only hire devs for plugin making or complex things) :
I can't believe some people except devs to do the simplest of things like essentials and perms if you don't know how look it up :P.
4. Don't Download Spawns:
God I've seen so many servers copy and paste spawns it's annoying and unprofessional
5. Have Fun!:
If your stressing over a release date day a free day with some staff and play something it never hurts to have fun.
6. Don't think about money at first!:
Yes you can have a donation shop (that's fair!) but don't beg for money it's annoying and makes people leave the server before they do anything.
7. Don't bribe for staff:
Paying staff may be a stretch but like giving Helpers or Mods OP is kinda like "oh hey I want you to be as powerful as an owner but your a helper"
8. Don't give your IP before your in at least a beta!!! (Staff is OK):
I've seen so many people give out their IP's before they have anything installed and that's kinda just like really dude :P.
9. Don't Beg for Votes!: Yes have vote rewards as an incentive but having a pop up in peoples faces makes them feel like they have to and they'll do it once instead of daily.
AND LAST but not least
Be a good friend: You may not know it but sometimes your co-workers can be your best friends and they'll be with you longer than the server if it doesn't last like 5 years lol.
