I just think he is failing as a president. I'm moderate and think that the past 4 years haven't been up to par. He makes a lot more excuses then other presidents (sometimes rightfully so) but still. He knew what he was getting into. He even said that he would be a one term president if he didn't cut the deficit in half. Btw, this doesn't mean I like Mitt. I just think people should vote more on who's going to try and help fix the economy, not who they would like to sit down and have a drink with

Anyways just my thoughts

I own a server, everyone treats females on there fine. I don't allow sexual harassment but I don't make a big deal about it ether. If you want to try to fit in and have everyone treated the same don't try to label yourself different. Every player on my server is treated the same. You do not get extra "rights" for being a girl. Nor do you get extra "rights" for being a boy.

Sexual harassment is for kids and immature punks... So is greifing and stealing and acting up. I don't like immature punks and people that are there just to cause trouble...
If the thing is girls not finding "safe" servers, I don't think the solution is to draw more attention to it. That would just make it worse, just find the ppl doing it and tell them to shut up, report them, etc. If there are a couple of corrupt files on a PC do you delete the whole hard drive? Just saying, not trying to sound harsh or anything just what I think btw females AND males are both equally treated on my server they don't make a big deal that they are a boy or that they are a girl. They just get along and play together. Maybe on some of the other servers this is a bigger problem so I can't say that much but it for sure isn't a problem on mine. Anyways, hope you can make it a better place for girls on MC cause I won't deny the problem isn't there. I just think you should go about it a different way is all.

I totally support women not being harassed, but there's something I don't understand.

How do they know you're a woman?

My wife sometimes plays. She doesn't log on the server and go "HI GUYS IM A GIRL". And so people don't know she is.

Some people thought I was a girl on one server. I didn't correct them either way. I don't care.

Gender is an irrelevancy in Minecraft.


edit: oh and just saying, harassment isn't tolerated on the server I play on, at all, of any kind.
and one of the main 3 admins is a woman, who is awesome.

So after reading this, I have a few thoughts.

First, as has been mentioned, I've never seen this happen, ever. The only people I've seen actively get attacked, are the ones who actively put information about themselves out, without being solicited. This ties into my next point, which is as such:

How do they even know you're a girl? I've never seen gender come up, unless someone comes in talking about how they're a dude or a girl. I've never seen someone get asked this question. The only conclusion that I can draw is that you're either a) announcing that you're a girl in some way, b ) or leading yourself into situations where it would come up.

One might say "Why is this a bad thing? I shouldn't get discriminated against because I want to tell people I'm a girl!" And ideally, yes, you would be right. But the issue comes in that the more people know about you, the more htye will make fun of you. If you're homosexual, you will get made fun of. Black. Latino. White. Suburban. Smart. Dumb. Tall. Short. People are not nice. Women do not get targetted anymore than any other group (especially gays), the less information people have about you, the better.

Which is where my next point comes into play. Why is gender coming up at all? This is Minecraft, a video game about blocks. We are essentially playing with virtual legos. Where in the world does gender have a role in this? Leave it out. I don't care about gender, and from my experience, most other people don't either. The only time gender or any other trait becomes an issue is when people make it an issue, whether by accident or on purpose.

I am sorry that you've had bad experiences, that sucks. But this is the internet. It is notorious for trolls and just generally very annoying people whose sole purpose is to make life as annoying as possible for other people. Griefers, trolls, etc.

I would recommend what several other people have said, and find a more mature server (there are listings on numerous websites), and just avoid the topic of gender entirely.

I have literally never seen this happen on the various servers I've played on, but maybe I'm really lucky/good at ignoring idiocy.

I think you're just getting bad luck with servers. You just need to choose a good one based on a simple guideline:

If one or two idiots bother you and are told to shut up/are banned by the admins and/or regular people, you just got a tad unlucky there, stick around for a few and see if it's a common occurrence.

If the whole server starts doing that ****, leave.


Also, "pretend to be a boy" isn't a good tactic. You'll either be constantly bothered by hiding your gender, or someone will find out and things will go to ****. If people are asshats, leave. Servers are a dime a dozen, you're not missing a damn thing by getting the hell away from the idiots.

If you don't want the issue to ensue, then either don't openly announce you are female or don't play on said server where you are being harassed. I play on multiple servers where people get along just fine without needing to ask for "Female Rights" or "Male Rights". So, yes, I do find this topic to be quite silly and see no need for it to continue.
