Welcome, to Tarria. This is a Hardcore RP server, and at the moment still a work in progress. However, you can get on and help the server grow. We staff here are excited about bringing a (hopefully) great server to you guys soon.

By the way, if any of you have played on the servers Year 2065 or Year 2075, well, that’s us. So take that as a blessing or a curse.

The premise of this server is a hybrid post-apocalyptic/sci-fi RP server where you, the player, winds up on a planet that is practically uninhabited and only recently entered a true “civilization” state, which is tenuous at best. Some races call the planet home, while others are spacefaring and by bad luck had crashed on the planet, which is impossible to escape even with an intact ship. Tensions will arise, and so on and so forth.

Expect the ride to be a bit bumpy. We’re testing out some tweaks to the conventional RP server, such as a more valid application process, and more dynamic interactions between the staff and the players. So stick around and we’ll see how all this will turn out.

    Updates

    Intro

You’ve taken the first step out of your ship into an alien world, bloodied and bruised from a crash but still filled with the determination to at least take a few steps away from what used to be a ship. Your visor quickly brings up customary information of the planet, including the crucial information of the geiger count and the levels of the oxygen and CO2. Quickly, you discover the name of the planet and a page of info floats into your vision.

Tarria is the only known type of planet in the galaxy which is an exception to the conventional rules of gravitational physics. At certain points in its field, the gravity is so intense it can drag ships to the surface except for the largest cruisers. Then, the gravity drops off significantly around the layer of the surface of the planet. Additionally, exhibits a strong electromagnetic field. This field, while not damaging the ship’s systems due to most having some sort of magno suppressor, succeeds in disabling the ship until it crashes into the planet’s surface. All the aforementioned info suggests that there is an artificial system perhaps deep down in the planet causing these phenomenons, but no team had been able to travel to the planet and successfully return in all the years the planet has been known to the Federation.

All pilots and crews are ordered not to respond to distress signals from the planet, due to the impossibility of liftoff. Sentients shipwrecked on this planet are considered dead in the final conclusion of the Federation Assembly. The Assembly extends its sincerest sympathy towards the shipwrecked.

Suddenly, another message is intercepted by your visor, apparently a very old broadcast that has been rebounding in the atmosphere for quite some time.

…:{ Audio log from Federation captain M. Nimitz of the star voyager, Eratrrus
…:{ *slight static* -pon first time sighting the recently discovered planet, Tarria, I thought that I had returned to Earth. I guess looking back at it now it was a little unusual from the start, but everything seemed so familiar at first I thought nothing of it. I hadn’t seen the orbital control tower and when I gave the order to make contact we received no response, that was strange, those techies are almost always on their sets. Soon after, one of my navigators reported to me these… *slight pause* unusual coordinates. I, I had the Specialist double check his numbers. Turns out there was no mistake, I walked back to the center of the bridge, slowly, and made a call back to headquarters.
    …:{ END TRANSMISSION

Are you going to get out of here in one piece?

    Basic Rules

Do not login with a hacked client or use mods that given an unfair advantage.

Mini-maps are exempted from this rule.

This is an RP server, which means you need to RP. Do not spend all of your time building, interact with other players.

Do not run from others players or log off during an RP session. If you have a legitimate excuse to leave then tell an administrator.

Use the correct terms for items and mobs when roleplaying.

Use the chat channels correctly, and when using them do not advertise or spam. Do not post coordinates into global. To use the radio channel you must be near a radio station. (3 different colors of clay.)Global is for OOC purposes, no information should be taken from here and used IC.

When speaking OOC in an RP channel use double parentheses.((You look pretty good.))

Do not take advantage of exploits to farm for XP or resources. Will result in the destruction of such farms without refund of items used to create said farm.

We, the staff, are expecting players to treat us and other players with respect.

Do not use racial, sexist, or offensive remarks.

No staff impersonation. Include this phrase when applying; “This is delicious!” Place at the bottom of your application, required to become accepted.

Staff will never give you items or teleport you, do not ask them. This means that you can not ask a staff member to teleport to the last place you died.

Players may not come back onto the server until their application(s) is accepted.

No pvp logging, if caught you will be killed on respawn. Once again, if you have an actual excuse, notify an administrator beforehand.

    RP Rules & Etiquette

These blocks are breakable during RP: Block of clay, glass, gravel, ice, leaves, bushes, pumpkin, redstone wire, sand, block of snow, snow, and wool. Use your brain on this mostly; in real life you’d maybe be able to move a crate, but not break down a solid metal door.

When showing an action in RP use the command /me or a * at the beginning and end of a sentence. *Beluga tickles Quinnhatrik.* or /me tickles Quinnhatrik.

Constructions must be realistic, no 1x1 towers, no floating structures. Use supports, use wear and tear. Keep in mind anything that has came to this planet did so by crashing. Dirt is not a liable building resource.

Stealing is allowed, but only when the victim is online. Same rule applies when breaking blocks in an RPly fashion. Not sure if a player is online? Ask an administrator.

If a structure is lootable, an OOC sign will be placed at the entrance stating that it is abandoned. If you want to be sure, ask a staff member to check that the building is unoccupied.

Pre-established motives must be established before a player attempts to kill another player. Ask a staff member if you are unsure your motive is sufficient.

After killing someone, whether it be in RP, RP PVP, or PVP, place a sign saying the state of the body (Method of death, position of body, or if you cleaned up the scene, make a small indication that something had happened, e.g. *drag marks are seen leading out of the room*).

Characters can not be revived after they die, they’re dead forever. No cloning machines, etc.

Any information that a previous character was aware of, such was locations and items, is now voided. You can not retrieve items from dead characters or chests left behind.

    Gameplay Mechanics

Communication is broken up into a set of channels, each channel serves a different purpose. Below is a list of all the channels accessible to a normal players as well as a brief description of what they are used for.
Global All OOC information is sent through here, no RP in this channel.
Radio Has an infinite range, must be near radio equipment to use.
    Shout Range of 50-75.
Talk The most common channel for RP, has a medium range.
Whisper Channel used for RP stealth or secrecy, has a range of 3 to 5.

    Player Application

Now to shape your character’s backstory and personality. Your character can come from a number of different backgrounds depending on their race. They could have been a smuggler, an intergalactic trader, or a soldier in the Federation in their past. Now they’ve found themselves shipwrecked on a deserted planet and must find their way to survive. Please fill out the application as best you can, reading the criteria carefully and taking everything into account when shaping their backstory, such as your character’s race.

If you’ve played on any of our past servers you may remember that the application process was sometimes long and frustrating. To avoid those problems we’ve made the application format much smaller and instead will test your role playing abilities in-game. Roughly after a week of play time a member of the staff will engage in RP with your character.

    RACE NAME

    Lore:
    Physiological Description:
    Advantages:
    Disadvantages:
    Skin Examples:

    VALOSHAN

Lore: The jungle planet of Tonnek is home to vast purple seas, dangerous predators, and trees that seem to reach the heavens. This massive planet is inhabited by a proud, space fairing race known as the Valoshans. These reptilian warriors were thought to have evolved from a vicious species of animal that hunted in packs. Many of their predatory features are still evident after millions of years of evolution.
The Valoshans were generally known for being an aggressive, war-hungry race before being reluctantly accepted into the Federation. Civil wars were extremely common, the planet almost destroyed on several occasions. Honor was always a key factor behind all the bloodshed. Many Valoshans lived only to prove their worth in combat.
Conditions on Tonnek have improved significantly since then, although their violent reputation is still recognized among the other races in the alliance.

Physiological Description: The Valoshans are best described as a saurian race, with an appearance similar to that of an Earth reptile. Just like most reptiles, they are cold-blooded. However, they actually give birth to live young.
On average, most males stand around 6-7 feet in height and weigh roughly 300lbs. Females generally stand a bit shorter with a much lighter build, usually only weighing in at around 200lbs. A Valoshan’s skin color can vary from dark green to an almost lime coloration. Some Valoshans are known to have different shades of brown or yellow skin as well. Eye color varies only slightly in the species, ranging from light blue to violet.
They possess a pointed snout filled with long, sharp teeth. Their clawed hands have three fingers and a single thumb, while their feet have two toes facing forward and one in back. A Valoshan’s legs are digitigrade, meaning they have three joints in their legs: one bending forward, one below that bending backwards, and an ankle joint. Valoshans also have a long, serpentine tail, length ranging from about 4-5 feet long. This extra appendage is generally used to balance Valoshans when they lean their heavy upper bodies forward, as they do when running at high speeds (some Valoshans are even known to run on all fours, the balance their tail provides comes especially in handy here). Their tail is also extremely muscular, allowing it to be used as a surprisingly effective weapon, or even as an extra arm.
The average Valoshan only lives to about 40 years of age. However, unlike humans, Valoshans will not grow weak or show any signs of old age until their last couple weeks alive. However, Valoshans also reach full maturity much faster than humans, being considered a full adult by age five.

    Advantages:
    • The physical strength of the average male Valoshan is usually between that of 2-3 men
    • They are very agile, able to run at high speeds and leap great distances
    • Decent sense of smell, strong enough to pick out anyone hiding nearby
    • Keen eyesight
    Disadvantages:
    • Valoshans are unable to swim due to a large amount of muscle and a lack of body fat
    • They are very susceptible to disease and radiation
    • Their bodies are not able to survive in snowy climates for extended periods of time
    • They are only able to ride specially bred mounts ( mules ) due to their weight
    • They have a significantly shorter life expectancy than humans. However, Valoshans will not grow weak with old age
Template Skins: WiP (Work in Progress)

    KAULTRIK

Lore: The planet of Tarria is home to many deep caverns and grottoes filled to the brim with noxious gases. While inhospitable to many, these caves are home to the most vile and putrid of creatures, which mainly involve some fungus, cave snails and the Faultrik. This blackened, putrid race of evolved lizards are fragile in appearance and strength, but their light weight and slim appearance allow them to avoid conflicts and rely on their cunning nature to get them out of danger.
The Kaultrik are known by the also native race, the Ber’ei, to be thieving nuisances to many they come in contact with as they have spent many generations not progressing on their own technology but rather stealing advanced technology from others. Even then, they mostly care about appeasing their ruler by bringing them riches to add to their collection. They strike at night for their black hide allows them to blend in and the fact that they would burn up in the sun and most likely go blind due to spending their entire existence underground. They also prefer more cramped indoor spaces to live and walk on both four and two legs at will, but they prefer crawling about walls and ceilings as a quicker mode of transportation.
With the new arrival of this reptilian race and a recently crashed ship carrying the humans, new opportunity for wealth arises as well as competition and danger.

Physiological Description: Pitch black hide camouflages this slender race in the darkness. They are a very reptiling looking race but are not cold blooded and rely on the damp, noxious caves they call home to survive. They lay eggs along their cave floors and wait about a month for them to hatch making their numbers multiply rapidly.
They are a small race as males height comes in at about 4-5 feet but females also fall in at the same range. They weigh about 70 lbs and their skin tone varies only from soot black to dark grey. Eye color is typically bright green and they see extraordinarily well in dark spaces but in daylight they are blind.
They carry an extended cranium that stretches behind their head and have a slender neck supporting it. Their lips are sharp and pointed acting as skin teeth and have an extendable tongue like a frog. They have the ability to swim due to the pockets of water that develop in their moist caverns and swim rather quickly. They posses three pointed fingers and balance their slender figure on 3 pointed toes that dig into the ground beneath them as stilts. They use both sets of digits to climb walls and ceilings as well. They are short and as such not very fast on two legs but can reach speeds of about 40 mph on four legs, they would be best described as spider like in nature. The normal home dwelling Kaultrik lives to be 60 years of age but the more dangerous, outdoor dwelling Kaultrik that expose themselves to the outside elements cut their lifetime by a quarter or even in half. They reach full maturity at age 3 and gather survival tactics very quickly. The males go on to become thieves while females stay home and continue to make more offspring and keep the eggs away from harm.

    Advantages:
    • Born stealthy, their black hide camouflages them from unsuspecting enemies when in unlit areas.
    • They can see extremely well in very dark places.
    • Are esteemed alchemists and craft poisons to sap their adversaries.
    • Immune to poison, as it runs through their blood.
    Disadvantages:
    • Sunlight blinds them completely and singes their skin.
    • Outdoor elements can have permanent damages to them if they expose themselves for too long (A full day or two)
    • Fragile frame and not the best at hand to hand combat, prefer the more subtle approché.

    BER’EI

    Lore:
The Ber’ei are sapient species native to Tarria’s colder regions. Evolved from indigenous arctic apes, the Ber’ei are a fairly recently evolved species – they are only approximately 800 years old. Ber’ei are nomadic, travelling in tribes made of up family members. The Ber’ei have yet to understand farming, and as such forage for food and hunt the creatures that inhabit their mountains. The Federation deemed the Ber’ei a “Primitive Developmental Race,” meaning that they were meant to be left alone until they develop into a more intellectually complicated species. Unfortunately, ship crashes caught the attention of various Ber’ei tribes and Ber’ei began to interact and coexist with the survivors of such crashes.

    Physiological Description:
Ber’ei are simian creatures native to the cold mountainous regions of Tarria. They resemble a cross between humans and Earth apes, or what one might refer to as a “yeti.”
The Ber’ei are hardy creatures with a thick coat of coarse hair covering their entire bodies. This hair provides the creatures with warmth as well as protection, as blades and even small-caliber bullets have a hard time penetrating the outer layer. This hair layer is also extremely heavy, and as such the Ber’ei are fairly slow moving in order to compensate.
Male and female Ber’ei both stand at around 5’5” with little variation, though males are slightly larger than females. Female Ber’ei weigh around 180lb and males weigh around 240lb, though around a fifth of this is hair. Not unlike polar bears of Earth, Ber’ei have ash-grey to black skin with coats of hair ranging from yellowish white to light grey to reddish to, very rarely, snow white. Ber’ei eye color ranges from brownish-black to blood red.
Ber’ei are squat and sturdy in build, with muscular, bulging stomachs and tree trunk-think arms with powerful hands for gripping the snowy mountains they live on. Ber’ei are not built for running, as they have short, muscular legs with large feet. Ber’ei feet act as natural snowshoes, allowing the Ber’ei to walk on thin ice without slipping despite their weight. Ber’ei possess three pairs of sharp canine teeth for meat tearing, along with wide jaws and large, sac-like cheeks in which they store extra food for later consumption. Ber’ei have acute senses of smell, which helps make up for their staggeringly terrible hearing caused by their tiny ears.
Ber’ei are quasi-intelligent beings. They are quick to learn, even being able to learn different languages within their vocal capabilities. However, their general level of comprehension is lower than that of, say, humans. Generally speaking, Ber’ei seem to be interested more in the “what” than the “why” or “how.”

    Advantages:
    • Increased Strength
    • Heightened climbing capabilities
    • Great sense of smell
    • Adequate eyesight
    • Protective, warm hair
    Disadvantages:
    • Slow of movement
    • Inability to stay in warm climates for extended periods of time
    • Somewhat clumsy
    • Relatively low intelligence
    • Bad hearing
    Template Skins:
    http://www.planetminecraft.com/skin/berei/

    HUMANS

Straight up vanilla humans. Not much variation among them except for those with synthetic parts.

    ROBOTS ETC

Considering that a “race” of robots is unlikely to appear, any robot/android/cyborg application will be considered to apply for the person submitting the app.

You included the new sections to the lore, but your skin does not look like an old man. I would at least expect someone at his age to have a quite big amount of gray hair, due to the stress.
