A clean install will wipe your hard drive clean . This can be a good thing because it makes your computer super fast and ensures there are no malware on the computer . Then you get to choose what software you want to put on the PC . The Windows 10 license is tied to your PC hardware ID now and Microsoft remembers your activated.

Don't be in a hurry to convert to x64 , you can do it anytime . minecraft will play great on x86 with 1 gig alocated to Java's Virtual Machine

Thanks, that's what I thought. I was always good with the default if I wasn't using mods, but when I get mods they tend to use up all of the allocated RAM and cause me to slow down a bit. Whenever I end up doing this, I'll leave a post here with the results. Thanks man, I appreciate it.

I have one (probably) last question. What is a "clean install"? From what I am able to understand of google, it means I need to delete everything and then install windows 10? And, thank you for all the help you have given me so far. I appreciate it. I can almost never get answers from the internet if I don't deliberately say something incorrect.

There isn't a pull down box when I choose "upgrade this PC now", there wasn't one any time at that option. With the "create installation media for another PC" option it does give me an option for that, but I do not have a 3 GB flash drive or USB. Though the default architecture for it is x64, the recommended option for this PC. I assumed it would do that default for "upgrade this pc now" since that was the default for "create installation media for another PC". The bottom line is that there wasn't an option for that anywhere for "upgrade this pc now".

I did pick x64 though. I'll try it again, and I'll leave another post with the results.

your computer has the x86 Windows version , this is for older computers or weaker computers. It can only read up to 4 gig of memory . If your computer is modern It should have Windows x64 OS and then it can read memory above 4 gigs . Google the difference between x86 and x64 Windows so you will know the limitations in memory .You can also go to your control panel and look under the system icon to see what version of Windows you have . If you don't have the 64 bit version of windows you cant use 8 gigs of that 12 gigs

Operating System: Windows 8.1 (x86) version 6.3 max (4 gigs memory)

    MagicLauncher 1.3.1
    java.home: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_66
    java.runtime.name: Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment
    java.runtime.version: 1.8.0_66-b18
    os.name: Windows 8.1
    os.version: 6.3
    os.arch: x86 <------------------------------------------------------- see for a modern computer this should be x64
    sun.arch.data.model: 32

Get someone who knows what they are doing , go here for upgrade ( Its Free)

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10

Get the media creation tool and select Windows 10 x64 bit

Thank you, but do I really need windows 10 for this? I really don't want it and I want to keep windows 8.1.

Under settings Advanced Tab change memory to 1024 , see if that fixes it . Allocating more than 1024 of memory will slow down minecraft . Unless you are using High Def resource packs with shaders .Update your video drivers and update your Forge . On a x86 OS your whole system only has a max of 4 GIGs of memory . giving minecraft memory you just don't have . If you have more than 4 gigs of physical memory and installed the x86 OS by mistake , try a clean install of Windows 10 x64

To make it clear for you to understand Windows x86 can only address a maximum of 4 gigs of your 12 gigs . You must install the 64 bit version of Windows to access the rest of that memory . I guess the Windows x86 got installed by mistake

I've updated my forge, and I have absolutely no idea where to update my video drivers or install a x64 version of windows. It works in the official launcher though. I turned it up to 8 gb and it works just fine (in the official launcher). I'm only half-understanding what you're saying.

When you inject coremods , the order in the list is very important , since the classes can overwrite each other . Try moving up and down . Also try removing code chicken and the mods that rely on it while your doing this

I've just removed every mod from it, I still can't do anything over one GB. I've also tried putting the core mod under core mods, that didn't help. No matter what I do, I can't do more than one GB. This is the log with no mods. http://pastebin.com/3JXjeZ0q

    Hello,

I have another problem (and thanks for your help with my last one, LoRam100. It was fixed, and I notice I acted a bit ignorant. Apologies.)

If I try to put in more than 1 GB of RAM, it breaks. http://pastebin.com/ktEx3un6 (just updated my java to the latest. new link http://pastebin.com/6Qa0u5sf )

My PC has 12 GB of ram, so I can't see the problem here.

    Thank you in advance.

I know that all the mods must be the same version. After looking at the pastebin to see that I didn't use a mod for the wrong version, I see "Can not disable: OptiFine_1.8.8_HD_U_F3.jar". Maybe this has to do with it?

Sorry, I mean 1.8. Whatever the latest version is, I downloaded it from files.minecraftforge.net

I read as much as possible on this stuff before I post to any forums, I avoid posting questions on forums as much as possible.

I get this error about 75% of the time I try to start it up. I have the latest 1.7.10 and 1.8.8 forge versions, and have tried them all. Please help me.

posted a message on Is there a backpack mod for 1.8?

I'm not sure if I'm in the right place, but I need a backpack mod for 1.8. It can't be worn on the torso, it needs to be like a chest you can access from your inventory. If this exists, could I be linked? Thanks.
