No you are not the only one believe me. I posted (Here) when I started using 1.8.9 Pre2 and saw the issues while in the Nether. v1.1.5 seemed fine for me in the Nether, but 1.8.9 Pre2 totally breaks, everything is over saturated in red, shadows break, light direction seems off and yes, entities weirdly glow bright when they are near a light source.

I just setup 1.1.5 to roughly the same as 1.8.9 Pre2 and switch them when entering the Nether.

Oh, I fixed this myself in the 1.8.9 preview2. There's actually three separate shader programmes; one for each world. The nether, the end and the overworld. I'm not sure why the Continuum Devs did that, but you can fix the issues by simply deleting the ''World1'' and World-1'' folders within the shaderpack file.

After doing so, it all functions perfectly. =)

Well here is one problem that I see. Your executable is running 1.8.0_91. I attempted to update to that but mine is still running 1.8.0_25. I can't tell if it's the 32 bit or 64 bit. I know there was a thing back in like 1.6 minecraft where you had to have 64 bit java or you couldn't see further than 10 distance. Since I do not use a 64 bit browser the java installer doesn't like to auto install 64bit so I have to get it manually. It didn't seem to take the update when I did it though. Not really sure what's up with that.

My Xmx was only at 1, though minecraft F3 never reports it using more than about 500 mb. My Xmn was only at 128. What is the Xmn value related to?

I do run a full solid state drive system so I have no mechanical fixed drives.

Looks like I got the Java version thing worked out. For some reason it was using an older java version that was somehow installed into a minecraft folder in the program files directory. No idea why it was doing that. I pointed it to the one in the java directory and it's using the correct one now. Also if you are interested there is an 1.8.0_92 version now and it seems to be stable enough so far.

There is another strange anomaly that I forgot to mention. All of the torches in the game have some kind of strange mirror image thing going on where it shows more than 1 torch in a single location which changes based on what direction you are looking at the torches from. Any ideas on that one?

I apologise for taking so long to reply. I was asleep.

In regards to the executable things you encountered, that was because you are running the newest installer/client. I have found that client to be laggy; far more so than the old one. It creates a folder called ''Game'' or something, on your desktop. The normal one has all the folders located within AppData, in the ''.minecraft'' folder. You may wish to use that one instead.

As you see here, on Minecraft.net:

The latest one uses its own Java installation; a standalone one, which I find to be rather lacking in performance. Use the one my mouse cursor is hovering over.

    For the Xmn argument: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/23880891/what-does-xmn-jvm-option-stands-for
In short, it helps with the GC (Garbage collector). Too much can hurt performance, whilst too little (128M) can also impact performance. I find that 256M is just right. The same can be said about Xmx. Even if you never use more than a certain amount, it never hurts to have an optimal amount; just in case you do go over. Too much can impact performance, just like the Xmn argument.

And I'm glad you got the Java thing resolved; it was because as I mentioned above, it was using an actual ''installation'' of MineCraft, rather than just a solitary .exe on your Desktop. I will update my Java, thank you.

As for torches... I can't say I've noticed that. Are you using a specific texture pack, or just default Minecraft? I use a pack called ''Misa'', and I never see her torches behave like that. I also frequently use Default and Faithful (a higher resolution default). Neither of them have shown the torches as you described.

Would you mind taking a screenshot of the torch thing? Upload it to http://imgur.com/ and link it here.

    Edit:

To quiet all future debates, would you please install Speccy and screenshot the summary? It will show something like this:

(This is mine. Speccy seems to hate DDR4 RAM, lol. It's @2133MHz.)

    Speccy can be found here:

    https://www.piriform.com/speccy/download/standard

Please upload the screenshot to imgur, like the torches. You don't have to do this, but I'm sure Euphoria, myself and others will appreciate the clarity.

Okay everything today is a big day.
We are releasing three things today and plans for another thing.
Firstly 1.2 is released it can be downloaded on our website. This version includes many things like
improved POM and support for all resolutions (Definable)
    Volumetric Light
    New Global Illumination
    Improved PCSS
    PBR And PBR packs
    Dynamic Weather per day
HRSSS (New way of making shadows touch blocks and perfect shading [Disabled by default])
And many other things scattered about
Second we have 2 texturepacks on the bottom of the website, one being an extension to chroma hills and the other being an alpha version of pulchra PurePBR. and the last thing we are announcing a shader test server and factions server, this will be a good way for everyone to compare edits show bugs and many more things in the future so keep updated on that.
    http://continuumshader.com

    Hmm.

The 1.2 release seems to have severely impacted my performance. Is it safe to say that it is still a preview/beta? If so, I'll go ahead and return to the version I was using previously; ''Continuum Preview - 1.8.9 - Preview2''. If not, then I'd appreciate some help figuring out what I'm doing incorrectly. As it stands, my usual 50-60fps has bricked down below 30fps. With the ''Pulchra PurePBR'' texture pack, it plummets even further to 19-20fps.

I've changed no settings, other than simply enabling the shaders and the texture pack. Everything was exactly as it was, whilst using the 1.8.9 version. (14 Render distance, etc. I'll screenie all that Info.) Here's a screenshot of Minecraft being the active window, with MSI Afterburner and my Task manager on the right monitor:

As you can see, my CPU is only at 17% usage, and I'm only using 9GB of RAM. What you see on my taskbar, is less than what I normally have open whilst playing MineCraft. I tend to multi-task a lot, and things usually end up being forgotten about. According to MSI Afterburner, my GPU is at 96% Usage -- but that was also the case, with the other Continuum shader; as well as just about any other game I play that has semi-decent graphics. So that shouldn't be considered a factor.

Here's my graphics settings, in OptiFine and my client settings:

I play on a 1080p Monitor; ''Maximised'' Windowed mode, with the task bar at the bottom. The game resolution ends up being... 1920x1018. I left the ''advanced'' shader options, well enough alone. The only setting I changed within ''Shader options'', was the profile selector. I changed that to Ultra, then to Low when that caused such extreme Fps drops. Even in Low, my fps was around 30.

Something seems a bit off here, as my fps shouldn't be this low. In case you need a refresher, my Hardware is as follows:

(Speccy seems to hate DDR4 RAM, lol. It's @2133MHz.)

Now that all of that is out of the way... I've also some proof, for the aforementioned superior performance. I recorded a good number of videos with Continuum and my favourite texture pack. I'll link two of them:

The first one, was before Stazza85 offered me their Motion Blur fix. So it has the white pixelation. The second one is obviously within a Flat world, but it's not your typical ''dig four blocks down and you hit the void'' type; as you can see via the coordinates and my small dungeon/basement. So I feel that it offers comparable hardware stress to a normal world.

Not certain if I need to state much else... if you need me to clarify anything, list anything else, etc., then simply ask me. Looking forwards to a reply. =)

There's an OptiFine update, people! It has been updated to version ''B2'', up from ''B1''.

    You can find it, here:
    http://optifine.net/adloadx?f=OptiFine_1.9.2_HD_U_B2.jar

This added ''better grass'' support for Mycelium and Grass paths.

In other news, I've decided to play MCL+ full time now. It will be my primary focus, from this day onwards; no more RuneScape, RoboCraft or anything else for quite a long time. The past year or so, I have done naught but start and abandon projects. I then always leave for weeks to months on end, only to play RuneScape. This won't be happening any more.

I will finally be completing a proper Base -- something that I have not done since the original MCL, back when I built my huge inverted castle (basically, a 'hidden' castle, that expanded underground for a good 20 storeys, and was over 1,000 blocks in both the x and z coordinates.) in 2013. I've been spending too much time, goofing around and getting distracted.

As for current progress right now, I've completed work on my own personal Blaze Farm; I didn't like the look, nor the slowness of the public one. Here is a short video I recorded of that; no shaders this time:

OptiFine is a client-sided modification. It doesn't change any server mechanics; even in locale single player. So no. Spawn chunks are left alone.

I was simply stating, 3 seconds to select the window and click close. In other words, I was indicating that windows opened by Adfly can be closed normally and are not these impossible super magical popups that require a system restart and OS reinstall like some people make them out to be.

And if someone's still paranoid about it, there's Adblock and Adblock Plus for Chrome.

I'm never without it, personally. Also, plenty of sites out there that can decrypt an AdFly link. But yeah, it's really not worth all the hastle of trying to avoid it. Wait five seconds and click 'Skip'. Easy.

Exactly, consumer Ivy Bridge's do not support 128GB of RAM. Also, his other posts, asking for help because he's struggling to run a very basic little map mod even when it's on the lowest quality setting because his PC is maxed out and only has a small HDD

I smell a "Hey everyone look at me, look at all the money I have... look at me look at me..." kiddie post.

Yes, that processor specifically only supports up to 32GB of RAM. However, depending on the Motherboard's memory controller, it can support more. For example, the ASUS P9X79 Deluxe Motherboard can increase that to 64GB. They may have a motherboard that ups their limit all the way to 128GB; such as the ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition. It is not impossible, but yes. It's unlikely, in my eyes.

I didn't wish to ''call them out'' on their claim, so I simply accepted it and answered their question to the best of my abilities.

Well thanks to the help of Matteo the author of Realistico resource pack I have managed to work out the problems I was having rather fast. It seems that the render quality was a huge performance drain on the card without much of a noticeable difference in graphics quality. I'm still not really sure what the difference is. I tried turning from 2.0 to 1.0 over and over and really can't see any difference in quality however 2.0 is 14 FPS and 1.0 is 40 FPS. Hope this helps anyone else having issues with FPS performance!

There is now only one issue I really have with this shader pack which seems to be common among shader packs... When it's raining outside you get this effect of blur on the screen where I guess water droplets are hitting your "eyes" and it is a really annoying feature. Is there any way to turn this effect off? It is extremely unnatural and I'm not sure why developers think this is an accurate representation of real life as this effect does not happen in real life with or without eye protection.

In the same menu that you choose the Render quality, Shadow Quality, etc, click on ''Shader Options..'', which is below those settings.

Then click on ''Weather'' and you'll see an option called ''Rain_Lense''. Turn that off.

Also, on a side note, you shouldn't be at that low of fps, with your listed hardware. I'm always sitting at 60-50, with an i7-6700, 24GB of DDR4 Ram and a GTX 970. I've even recorded a number of videos with Continuum, such as this one:

Try turning both the ''Render Quality and ''Shadow Quality'', to 1. You ought to easily cap at your monitor's refresh rate. Like you said, there's no noticeable difference between higher values and 1.
