    Last question: what is DOF?
    Depth of Field?

    That would be correct. =)

Here's a rather informative video that both explains what it is, and explains how to use it on default SEUS:

When I try to download optifine, it says "this type of file can harm your computer". What do I do?

Google chrome says this about all '.jar' files, regardless of where they come from.

Simply click on 'Keep', and install it as normal.

posted a message on Help me figure out these problems and how to fix these mod problems!

    Based on this:

    cpw.mods.fml.common.LoaderException: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: SoulSReborn/gameObjs/SoulCage
    at net.minecraft.launchwrapper.Launch.main(Launch.java:27)Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: SoulSReborn/gameObjs/SoulCage

It appears that the issue is ''Soul Shards Reborn''. You're attempting to run MineCraft 1.6.4, which doesn't support that version of the mod. The 1.6.4 version is simply called ''Soul Shards 2''.

    Have a look, here:

    http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1285901

On another entirely unrelated note, it appears that your Java is outdated lol. You're running u8v25. There is a version 91 available, at the moment:

Please forgive the newbie question. I have to be missing something stupid. I'm trying to install OptiFine but not having any luck. I downloaded the OptiFine_1.9.4_HD_U_B5.jar file from the website. When I try to open it though, it doesn't run as an executable. It opens the file in WinRAR and gives me the option to extract it to a folder, but there is no setup or install file.

    Just follow these simple instructions:

Make sure that you have Java installed, or you can't do this. The steps are similar on Windows 7 and 8. If you use a Mac, then I've no idea how to direct you.

Could I ask you to please type out a bit more? Whilst the previous two applications were also short, I do feel like it was a mistake to accept anyone who just followed the basic format. From this point onwards, I'm going to request that people put more effort into their apps - as I asked within the opening post. Yours, as well as the two above yours, are seriously lacking. =/

I'm sorry if this isn't something that you wish to adhere to. I just don't want to accept everyone who follows the format, with minimal details. If you're honestly interested in this server, please try again. If I'm asking too much of you, then I apologise, but you'll need to find another server. I'm looking forwards to your potential second attempt!

Ok guys, I got some time to work on the new snapshot content. I added the Stray and Husk mobs but still need to finish the polar bear (lots more work). Also added the new blocks: magma block, nether wart block, red nether brick, and bone block.

They are all "snapshot" ready but I'll probably tweak them when I get more time. Oh, and no, I haven't forgotten the zombie and skeleton horses....sigh. They just won't turn out like I want them.

    Enjoy! :D

    Les

Wow. This is awesome... Thank you, Les! I was curious if you'd be posting about it, soon. =)
And don't worry! I'm certain that all us Misa lovers will be happy with what you come up with. You seem to have mastered her specific art style.

    Mod..?
Just use the official Mojang launcher, found on https://minecraft.net/
In the launcher, you click on ''Edit Profile''.

    It's really not that difficult.

What do I copy when manually installing optifine without forge or java? There is a "patch" folder inside the jar which looks like it would be all that's needed, but I've tried that, following the rest of the "complex" installation instructions. I've also tried copying everything over, with the same results of minecraft starting unmodified.

Maybe those instructions need to be updated?

    Quote from t_i_mm»

In my post it is abundantly clear that I am trying to install without java or forge. Just because you are unable to grasp why someone would want to do that does not mean my post means something other than what it says. Plus, there are instructions in the OP on how to do so, but they don't work. Those instructions should be updated to at least say they do not work for the latest versions.

I know you were just trying to be helpful, but sometimes the most helpful thing someone can do is keep their mouth shut.

Tim, just install Java (there's nothing wrong with it) and then click on the .jar file you downloaded. It will open this interface:

After you've clicked ''Install'' on that interface, you can happily play MineCraft. None of the instructions are outdated or complicated, in the slightest. There's no need to be rude to others. This will literally take a second or two. Why go through the hassle of manually copying over the files, instead of using the integrated installer that Sp614x has included in OptiFine?

You can find Java, here: https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

If you have a 64-Bit OS, you ought to install the 64-Bit version. If you're honestly that paranoid about installing Java, you can easily uninstall it, after installing OptiFine.

That said, I don't like the new client's Java version, so I don't use the one Mojang has bundled with it. I find that using a proper installation of Java, yields better performance.

EDIT: Is there any way to change the microphone to my headset? Or does it automatically do that when I plug it in?

    You're welcome. =)
And um. There's only a few options for the microphone, but yes. I think it should automatically use it, as long as you have it enabled. Here are the settings:

This might seem redundant to say this, as it has already been posted... but, you ought to list your full system specifications, before anyone can say 'yay' or 'nay' about anything. Here:

Operating system name: (Windows 7, Windows 10, etc.)

    Processor: (i3-140, i5-140, Pentium E140, etc.)

Graphics card: (Intel HD, GTX 560, HD 7650m, etc.)

    RAM:

As others have also said, Bandicam and OBS are most likely the best choice; regardless of your system's hardware. For high-end Nvidia GPU users, Shadowplay is by far the best option, though. You can find OBS, here and Bandicam, here. Something else to keep in mind is that OBS is entirely free, whereas Bandicam isn't. Bandicam will limit your recording to ten minutes and place a large, intrusive watermark over every video.
