Thank you so much for adding fabric support!

Your minimap and world map were the only two things left that were keeping me on Forge. They are essential to me, for me to play Minecraft in any context. My friends have been bugging me to move to Fabric for a while now, lol.

I recall reading in the past that you said you would consider adding Fabric support. Is this still on the table?

Hi, I've been using your mod for a couple of weeks now and I love it. But yet I didn't figured out how to create an image of full world. When I go to mods doesn't allow me to click on config. Or is it somewhere else? I couldn't find a guide for this, can you make one step by step?

I play on singleplayer. thanks :D

The settings for the world map are not in Forge's mod settings. Xaero has his own ingame settings menu, which I have bound to the F9 key. I don't recall what the default is, but check your keybinds to see.

It has its own section of keybinds:

This is what the settings menu looks like, and the button you need to use:

Ok, I know what's wrong. Having Optifine deobfuscates func_187508_a() to getSprite(). Likely accidental, so it should probably be fixed on their end.

Thank you, I'll open an issue on sp614x's GitHub for this.

Unless you want to? I'm not by any means a developer, and you could probably explain it better than me.

Hey, so uh. The developer of OptiFine just added Forge support today, to the latest 1.15.2 preview (pre14). However, I'm now encountering a crash similar to the one I had with OptiForge, which I pestered you about on the minimap thread. This time, I'm correctly posting on the world map thread, lol.

Here is the full crash for you, via pastebin: https://pastebin.com/svK15GRm

It's worth noting that the minimum version of Forge supported by the latest OptiFine preview, is the latest development version of Forge - 31.1.63. Not sure if that would have anything to do with it, but I doubt it because I was using that version with the previous OptiFine preview (pre13) and your minimap/world map just fine.

Others have also confirmed this crash, in the OptiFine discord server:

Hello, got a question about optifine compatability,

In update 20.7.1 you state that you fixed safe mode compatibility with Optifine for 1.15.2. How is that possible when we need forge which is not supportet by the latest pre release of optifine

There is an open source project called "OptiForge", which aims to add Forge support to OptiFine's 1.15.2 previews. It was created by one of the main contributors to common Forge issues, Zeker: https://github.com/ZekerZhayard/OptiForge

This is what Xaero was referring to.

Been getting this issue for a few versions of optifine connected textures where the glass panes don't connect correctly in certain directions. Glass blocks are not affected. I checked these forums and reddit to find other people with same issue but i cannot find a fix. This even appears in optifine only versions of the game no resource packs loaded. And a friend of mine with brand new hdd / windows install and fresh game install has the same exact issue. So I can rule out old files and resource packs entirely since they don't exist to begin with.

    urrently using "OptiFine 1.15.2 HD U G1 pre13"

Please post this on the official OptiFine GitHub, by opening an issue. The developer doesn't check this thread often any more, whereas he responds to GitHub issues rather quickly.

    OptiFine's GitHub is here: https://github.com/sp614x/optifine/issues

I'm uncertain if this is because it's easier for him to use, or if he just hasn't had time for anything else.

Thanks for reporting! I have already received a report for this but I appreciate it either way. It's a compatibility issue in the world map mod and I'll fix it in a future update.

    Yup, you're welcome. =)

I'm glad it's something you're able to fix, then. Also, I guess I goofed up and misread the crash report lol. I read it as minimap, not world map, which is why I posted it on this thread instead of the world map one.

Since it's on your end, I went ahead and commented that on the issue I opened on OptiForge and closed it.

    Thank you for responding.

Hey Xaero, I guess I need to bug you about something. I'm not 100% certain your minimap is actually causing this, but since the crash report is pointing the finger of blame at it, I realised I should ask about it anyways.

Today, I decided to try an open source project called "OptiForge", which aims to add Forge support to OptiFine's 1.15.2 previews. However when using your minimap in tandem with this, it crashes as soon as I attempt to open the debug menu (F3). Obviously your minimap functions flawlessly without this.

Here is the crash report: https://pastebin.com/ijqAwnhF

Here is the issue I opened on OptiForge GitHub: https://github.com/ZekerZhayard/OptiForge/issues/9

More information can be seen there, in that issue. Hopefully it's not something you need to fix, but I'm letting you know just in case.

Six months after you submitted it, I'll address your post as best I can.

Yet you keep bumping the thread thereby enabling people to read the OP within this thread.

Yes, my posts essentially cause this thread to be bumped to the top of the list. However, would you rather I ignore posts on this thread and let them go unanswered as I have done for the past six months?

    Quote from Ikonic»

I.E. most people read the OP and then post, they don't typically read all of the posts in between.

This is something I have an issue with - it irritates me to no end. I expect people to actually read things, and realise that the opening post hasn't been updated. Following that, I would expect them to check the latest posts on the last page. If they had done so, they would have realised they need to use our discord, or website instead.

    Quote from Ikonic»

You have taken the liberty of speaking on behalf of all the server users, yet the OP remains, without edit, and clearly instructing readers to post here to gain access.

Liberty? I am the one who manages the server. The one who owns it is aegisjester, and much like myself and many others who previously used this forum, we have moved to other platforms. Unless I ask him for his account info to edit it myself, it will remain as is.

    Quote from Ikonic»

Also, what evidence do you have that supports your claim that this site has been "abandoned by the majority of the Minecraft community"?

I have none, but I very much doubt I need any evidence. These forums were once the focal point for general Minecraft community interaction. As time went by, people slowly began to move to other platforms, such as reddit and discord. There's even an official Minecraft discord, where all of the Mojang, and Microsoft developers are.

There were two final nails in the coffin - first the twitch/curse account merger, then the rescinded shutdown announcement. Very few people use this graveyard any more.

    Quote from Ikonic»

Perhaps you believe that since the OP hasn't updated this thread to meet with your approval that therefore s/he is inactive and the majority of the minecraft community is as well?

This line is just nonsense. It almost seems like you're projecting.

    Quote from Ikonic»

I'm super curious though as to where you get this from because MCF is one of the highest referral sites for other MC sites within the MC community. 2.2K for example compared to 1.5K over at PMC and only 562 over at curseforge. You get a larger number of outlinks in a community that has more active users posting those links than on other sites.

If you haven't been keeping up with the Minecraft community, that's on you. I have no stats to show you, and I'm inclined to believe you pulled yours out of thin air.

What I can say, is the official Minecraft discord server is nearing 500,000 members, with 100,000+ online and actively interacting with one another.

    Want proof? https://discordapp.com/invite/minecraft

The official subreddit is a bit more lopsided, with over 2 million users, and only around 12,000 active ones.

    Proof again: https://old.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/

The point is, as stated, the Minecraft Forums as a whole, are defunct. Not just this thread. Sure, a handful of people still post and create threads here. However, user retention is at an unfortunate low since most users have relocated elsewhere.

There appears to be a problem with networking. Servers do not show their status on the Multiplayer screen, and if you try and join a server you get:

    Not exactly, but yeah.

I delete the old jar, and then drop the new one in. With this last update I updated Forge from 31.1.14 to 31.1.16, and your minimap mod from 20.4.0 to 20.0.4.1; the keybinds were kept. So, maybe whatever was causing it in Forge is resolved now.

Ummm. It's not intentional but does it even happen? Key bindings are not stored in the jar file, so I don't see how it would happen. Forge is responsible for this, btw.

Hmm... I wrongly assumed it was your mod, then. I wonder why Forge resets it. Any ideas why?

Also I do know the key bindings are stored outside the jar file; I've manually replaced it before when they get reset. I just assumed that for some reason your mod overwrote existing keybinds every time I updated to a new version. If it's forge's fault, that makes it more confusing to me since I haven't updated that for a good week.

Oh well. It's not a serious issue, and I'm fine with having to rebind them.

Hey Xaero, I'd like to ask - is automatically resetting all keybinds to default every time I update the minimap intentional, or a bug? I've been meaning to ask about it, but I kept forgetting because it only happens when I update lol. It's not a huge bother, just a minor annoyance.
