posted a message on Where to get amazing internet speed...
    Quote from slango20

I doubt you could get 50/20 on a home connection, the best I've seen is 50/5, then again, I live nowhere near you (you could always check the website of your current provider and search for a better plan, but if you use DSL, switch to cable)

Are you referring to where OP lives or what? I could easily pay for home internet speeds that fast where I live. (I don't because I don't need it) I'm not quite understanding.

posted a message on Razer Blade (2014) or MacBook Pro Retina 13"?
    Quote from darkcraftersssss

For the same price as MacBook Pro retina 13 256 gb I could get the razer blade 256 gb...

I also like OSX better than windows. Maybe they will put dedicated graphics in the next 13 inch MacBook Pro.. Even a nvidia gt 840M or gt 830M would be better than intel iris... Not going to get my hopes up as that's probably unlikely.
I could always use an external gpu like a gtx 750.. It's not movable though... And that's why I have a desktop...

I might just get the razer or sager.. See if the battery is acceptable and performance is good. If not, I might get a MacBook Pro retina 13" instead.

Stop deciding between Razer Blade and Macbook. You could either get a mobile powerhouse or a slow stovetop that you can cook your eggs on.

If you're ever going to get a laptop for gaming, the only two companies you should even be considering is Lenovo and Sager.

    Quote from MrKillerToad

You can build a computer for 300-350 bucks, that'll run minecraft with some decent higher FPS. Then again, you could spend 2000 dollars, and not worry about dipping below 3124109283124 FPS (exaggeration)

Long story short, you can build a PC for what exactly you want it too do. Instead of buying a $2000 "gaming" laptop, that'll maybe half as fast as a $600-700 PC.

Half as fast is pushing it.
Gaming laptops aren't completely godawful when it comes to performance. I'm not saying they're as good as desktops - they aren't, and never will be.

Unless you travel a lot and want to game without hauling a tower around with you, or really need the mobility, there is no reason to have a gaming laptop.

That will hardly run vanilla Minecraft. Don't expect to go anywhere near Tekkit on that thing. Sorry.

    Quote from Zombie 101

I actually don't have a hard time running shaders, I don't really want to use SEUS because it makes my GPU temperature extremely hot and Chocapic's and Sildur's old shaders kept it at a good temperature. I've tried Sildur's Vibrant Intel and they crash my drivers as well. Sildur's light is buggy for some reason they don't crash.

Graphics cards are designed to run at extremely hot temperatures. They can survive and thrive at ~80-85c.

The only thing I don't like about this otherwise incredible mod is the Z target.
Minecraft combat is simplistic as it is, a good portion of the skill comes from a player's aiming ability. Due to being able to lock on perfectly, this would greatly simplify PvP rather than enhance it.

    Quote from Flenix

I seem to be crashing when I run the shader mod; even without selecting any shader packs.

As soon as I try and log in, the screen freezes and flickers between the last two frames it had very rapidly.

I'm using Forge 965 and shaders 2.2.2. I've got a Radeon HD 7950 3gb GPU, AMD FX8100 8-core processor and 8gb RAM. I am running a modpack, but others have shaders working in the same pack, so it's not a clash issue. (Ask if you want details, don't wanna seem like I'm promoting it as it's my own pack :P )

Any ideas? Really want to get shaders working :(

Also, if I select the Lagless Shader pack before joining, it will load, but this is all I see:

What's that GUI mod you're running?

The waypoints function is the cheating

Waypoints are just saving specific coordinates into a log file for the minimap. Not cheating at all.

Most mods are compatible with shaders. Heck, you could actually install shaders into FTB Monster and it'll work.

    Quote from XSSheep

^that doesn't include the ram price - for some reason it was dropped. Also I'm pretty sure the shaders work better on nvidia cards from what I've heard. (770's are the same price as 280x's now anyway so that's not really an issue budget-wise)

I believe AMD and Nvidia are about equal with shaders at this point. Nvidia just has more support for shaders.

Correct. 8 GB would be desirable. If anyone wants to give me any other suggestions, please do so. Thank you Quanni, I will look into this.

You could go a bit over 800 and get 8gb, or drop the GPU to a 760.

Only get a Macbook if you absolutely have to. You're not getting optimal performance for the price you pay.
