I can't believe you find hard to be easy. You sir, are amazing at combat.
Ohh yes being amazing at combat has everything to do with it. :smile.gif:
I was outside and a creeper blew up 2 spaces away, then I got jumped by a spider and attacked 3 times, finally to top it off another creeper came up and blew up 1 space away and I was still alive. (I was playing on hard) HOW IS THAT HARD!!!
I was on SSP with no armor and this was only my second night on the map. Sure this would have been hard if the dang mobs actually did any real damage. I know people dont think this is supposed to be an rpg or not supposed to be that hard, but Notch has stated he is trying to make the game play harder. I know there is talk of a nightmare mode coming up but with the way game play is now, I'm very disappointed. There is no point to have mobs if they do not kill you with ease on a hard difficulty.
That's what he's saying, but I'm sure that at least these updates will have months between them, simply because Notch does a lot of other things. Even now when he's working on the biggest update.
So he'll probably work on another game and randomly do something for MC. Maybe.
Luckily there's such a thing as a very active modders community.
The thing is, after the final push the game will not take any new radical turns. So, the game should become a little bit easier to update because they can just work on adding more game based content instead of actual development. It should get a lot easier to push out updates since they wont be reworking the code. Though its yet to be seen if they will update the code as they get it done or wait for a big release and give it to us all at once.
actually it doesn't..in math yes, but not in the instance.
I do not think any of them releases will be pushed back, since it is in Mojangs best interest to get them out in 1.9 so they can be tested for release of the finished MineCraft on November 11. Also I think there is other stuff they are going to try and add as well.
But if you think about it. Breeding, mob bosses, npcs, skill points, volcanoes, and stuff on the nether all need to be fully tested so that the game stays balanced. They need to release this or they will have problems in the final release. Which really isn't the final release, just the final release of all the major changes. Then they will go out and work on making the game more fun/better. (hopefully)
If anything does get pushed back, I would think it will be the volcanoes since that is not fully important.
I don't know if this has been posted (seen threads voting for ways to change it but nothing about it being as is). So I am a little curious. I see a lot of complaint and seemingly just as many "get over its".
I do imagine there will be changes to them in the future (whether it will stop them from messing up player blocks is an unlikely but who knows) but this poll is about them how they are now. Rather than what you'd prefer to see them become.
I personally like them. I think it's a bit more interesting having a mob that does more than just straight out attack. While it can be argued their block stealing is pointless I think it gives them more personality and purpose than others that just wait till they see you and run and until then walk circles.
But thats just my opinion and I'm still a forum noob. So those of you who can't stop yelling vote your opinion now! (or say why or why not.)
(Note: there's plenty other threads to have a moan about either side and would prefer this thread not to be another repeat)
They really are not all that pointless, seen how they do stop most mob grinders. Which I think was their point, or a little + side to their creation. I love the Enderman, and everything that they do. Like you said, it gives them more personality and sets them apart from other mobs.
I have not seen any other game with a mob like this, so that is really impressive. Great job Mojang. :smile.gif:
I just think its going to let you select which biome you would like to start on. I'm not sure about anything, but I doubt they would have added that if it wasn't going to be put in 1.8. Since not all of 1.8 is released, maybe we will find out all we need to know on 1.9.
The final price also depends if they have the option so you can buy the cross-platform license, so you can play it on live via phone, computer, and xbox360.
I have no idea how the coding is right now, nor do I even know Java. But I do know a little about C++ and how coding works. A simple easy way to change Enderman so they target player placed blocks would be to change the drops you get from mining/digging/chopping blocks. Like right now when a tree is chopped down it gives out a wood block. And right now Enderman target wood blocks. Instead of having the world generate wood blocks, have them generate blocks with the same texture as tress but just with a different name. So when that block is chopped/broke it drops wood. Then make an exception for the Enderman not to touch that block. That way when a player places that wood, the enderman only target player placed blocks.
This would be a simple easy change, that would not take to much time to code. This would make enderman creepy and make survival an actual challenge.
but they shouldn't touch naturally occurring wood blocks because that makes it yucky.
That possibly could be done. I was thinking another longer, smarter way, but the most simple way could not make it lag so bad. So lets say when the world generates it spawns the wood trees (lets call that nwood). All you would have to do is make it when nwood is chopped, it gives pwood (player placed wood). That way when you place pwood, enderman know they can take that wood. (You wont need any extra tables or nothing with this way, all you need is a new item.)
Right now I believe that when the world generates it sets up the wood. Then when a player chops the wood it looks to see what wood it is, then it gives them the item it corresponds to in the code. So instead of dropping the wood it drops now, you just create a copy of that same wood and call it a different name. Then tell the enderman that they can pick up that block but not the original wood. (No idea how Java works though, but it should be close to c++) -Sorry I dont know how to explain it better, but this could very well work and only take about 2 hours to change depending on how big the code is. Well 2 hours to add in the exception for the tree code and about 10 hours to change all the coding.
Hmm that could very well work and doing it this way will make the enderman target player made structures. That would be sweet. :biggrin.gif:
When I got the real version of 1.8, I would think Notch would add it back. I get on and see that the F key wasn't added back to 1.8. Will we ever get the F key back?
Umm haven't ya'll noticed that they are trying to get RID of mob grinders. Spiders that are 1x1, enderman that can move blocks, and I believe there is some other stuff as well. And btw, if you dont like Enderman getting into your mob grinder learn a little bit about them. Its not hard to get rid of them from your mob grinder, all you got to do is make it so they dont live to touch your blocks. Heck you can even make it so they cannot spawn in your mob grinder. Before you go crying about a new feature that is here to stay, 1.10 might just very well be the official release, read up and learn about them.
They should make Enderman move a block every 5mins and place it within a 40 block radius. Also you need to look at it from a game stand point, Enderman are here to balance out the game. You get rid of that block moving and you just got rid of what makes Enderman special. Not only that but you unbalance the game. (Mob grinders give you unlimited loot and make the game unbalanced.)
I have said more then once that I believe it will come out on Friday or before. Jeb and Notch seem really keen on getting this release out there. I'm pretty sure they can get all this done and taken care of by Friday. Let us just wait and see. but a fools dream is still a dream. :tongue.gif:
And why did Notch say he fixed it on twitter, yet it wasn't fixed in PR vers. 2?
Something happened with the code. Notch fixed it but they didn't put it in the pre-release 2. They came out with the pre-release 2 before he fixed that code. So dont worry, it will be out in the real 1.8 release, which should be on Friday I think.

Didn't they change it to F3+F?

This is one of the new mobs they are putting in to make the game harder.

Yep but that one has it written out perfectly. If you keep looking at his interviews, you will see he is still going this direction.
Edit: Here is the interview: http://www.accelerated-ideas.com/news/notch-answers-minecraft-18-questions-at-pax--dragons-and-trading-confirmed.aspx
"Is the hunger bar optional?
No. This is for performance reasons as well."
