$500 more than the dell, not $500 total.

Ohh i read that wrong lol well i guess if you have the money why not but i would have rather tried to teach her and spend that extra 500$ on my rig.

    And never buy a laptop.

    Laptops are baaad, mkay.

Laptops are fine for the average person that wants a mobile computing device. Not really cost effective for a gamer though.

F* yea. Have you ever tried to teach an old person? Screw that noise. Besides, it was only like 4-500ish more than the Dell anyway, not a grand.

My time and frustration avoidance is definitely worth that :smile.gif:

You have a point lol i tried teaching my 70 year old grandma how to text the other day and i gave up after an hour. That's good that it was only about 500 i wouldn't buy one but i guess if i had the money i would pay that to keep them out of my hair lol

lol... gee that guide isn't biased against Mac, is it? :smile.gif:

They have their place. I got my mom a Dell workstation with Windows 7 and I'd hear from her every week or two asking about this popup or that error or how to do something. I repo'd it and gave her a Mac, haven't heard from her since. At least, not about anything technical lol. So yea, Mac is good in some situations.

So you paid 1000$ or more instead of just teaching her basic computer skills or just teaching her to google?

posted a message on Does anyone know how I would go about learning to touch type?
I took to classes that were required in school and i can type about 120 words a minute now. Just spend a lot of time on the computer and try to force yourself not to look at the keyboard. Practice makes perfect.

i think it's just me, but i can't read anything in those pictures :tongue.gif: try hosting the image on something like imgur or whatever will keep it at full resolution.

sadly if people are dumb enough to buy alienware pcs or whatnot, they probably don't wanna read through these photos :/

Is that better? I switched to imgur, i have been using photobucket but not anymore lol

wait the hdd has a 4 pin and 2 sata connectors? Do you have all of them plugged in? I'm not sure but most of the hdd's i have seen only have one power and one data connector. Try just plugging in one power connector and one data cable instead of both power cables.

Disregard what i said i read it wrong. I have no earthly clue lol

pretty much, though technically your correct that its not even a remotely good choice, i'd rather have quality then a roaring flame breathing thing in my desk

we also need a comedic mac photo of some sort for entertainment purposes, may i suggest the shaving with a bowling pin?

Well maybe i will get lucky lol becuase i know we have to post these pictures at least once a day and it gets annoying eventually.

Good luck getting a sticky. And the thing with macs and alienwares, though, is it is not actually incorrect to buy them. It isn't the wrong thing to do. It's kinda like killing someone, which everyone would disagree with, versus going to college and majoring in veterinary medicine to become a doctor instead of going to medical school. It is not at all advisable, not technically wrong, but people will still do it.

So what you are saying is it isn't exactly wrong it's just really stupid? lol

posted a message on Why NOT to buy alienware and mac.
So have noticed that people keep asking if alienware and mac are good and if they should buy them. Everytime we have to tell them the same thing, that they are wasting their money. I thought i would make this thread in hopes of getting a sticky so that we don't have to continue telling people.

    Don't waste your money people.

XBox pros: Better online community, more games, i like the interface better than ps3.
    cons: paid membership.

PS3 pros: blu ray player, 3d, free membership, not as many annoying 10 year olds with mic's lol
cons: almost no one has a mic and those that do never use it.

The 460 is about $130, and is much worse the slightly more expensive 6870.

OP, get the 6870, or, if you can stretch it to ~$220, the 6950, or, at ~$240, the 560ti 448 core.

The 448 core can provide the same performance of the ~$350 6970 and 570. I would strongly recommend it.

I was saying why would you go for the 550 when it has the same performance as the 460 and is more expensive. I highly reccomend saving and getting the 560 448 core because right out of the box it has almost the same performance as the 570 and if you overclock it it can almost have the same performance as the 580.
