Indeed, I learned about this from Dratnos.

Currently the Girlfriend and I are playing it, and having a lot of fun. My problem in minecraft is I need a direction to go in, and once I do I am very creative. But if I am just doing stuff on my own I get bored to quickly. This challenge gives me projects to work towards, and thus is fun.

One question I did have, the general rule says that items are produced in the factory. However until you get to that stage you do not technically have a factory. Should it be tweaked to force you to create a workshop before the factory?

Hey I was looking for the 1.2.3 SMP version of the map, but am having trouble finding it. Can someone shoot me a link or tell me where to look to find it? The OP just has the SSP stopgap now and does not have the older versions listed. Thanks a bunch!

posted a message on Weird performance issue
Yea looked at that as possibly the source of the problem, but unfortunately when you update the Intel HD driver two things happen:
    1. It disables the AMD driver, thus disabling the switching graphics all together
    2. Minecraft still has the performance issues that I was seeing.

Specifically in Minecraft on the F3 screen, I can see right before it turns solid reed that on Far and Normal view ranges it is running at
    C: 500(ish)/2000(ish)

compared to the companion laptop of this one, this laptop is using a ton more resources than the other laptop. The other laptop typically has values of about 200 at most. I do indeed believe that the switchable graphics are to blame but using the Intel HD stuff on the CPU did not fix it and even though I defined javaw to run as a high-performance program, I do not believe that it is doing so.

    Acer Aspire 7750G-6444

It does have switchable graphics and I made sure it was using the HD chip first thing.

I will double check the drivers for the mobo and CPU. Pretty sure that was in the list of drivers I checked before coming here, but I will check again for thoroughness

Alright I read through the threads present and none of them are really the problem that I am having so here goes:

As near as I can tell my copy of MC is tracking a lot more data than it should be. It is causing it to run with an fps of 9, even with everything set to fast.

    CPU: Core i5 2.3 GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6650, 1 GB VRAM
    RAM: 4 GB DDR3
    64 Bit OS with 64 bit JRE7

I have not altered the amount of ram available for java, but I have set Java as a high-priority process associated with all 4 cores. In the F3 performance overlay, the whole left side is a solid red block.

Here is the trippy thing. An almost identical computer runs it perfectly fine.

Indeed FC. A new day has dawned for Minecraft Forge.

In other news, whats the status of the next version? According to Scokeev he sent you guys the files for the ScotTools API compatibility a while ago, so I was wondering what the status on the update is.

Hey every one. I have several mod ideas i want to work on. I was wondering what the best way to learn java would be? Would like to become a mod developer so any help will be much appreciated. TY

My own recommendations would be either some sort of class at your local college/university or the cheaper alternative, buy a Java book and teach yourself.

Java is extremely well documented and a textbook is pretty much going to teach you everything you need to know. It may also help a lot if you can find someone you can have ready access to like a school teacher or family friend that knows programming to help you with program logic. Sometimes new programmers have problems getting the hang of logic flow when they are first starting out.

You also need to set a goal for a simple project to begin with. Something like adding in a new block is a good start. There are lots of tutorials and you can sort of teach yourself what you need as you figure out what you need to learn.

hey all i have a quick question. i currently have better than wolves just before flowerchild updated to this. how do i go about installing this and buildcraft? and sorry for such a noob question but i can not make heads or tails of how all this is supose to work.

...I am not sure what to say.

First: That does not really belong on this thread, this is about MCF not BTW and pre-MCF compatibility
Second: You are talking about using a depreciated version of a mod

As far as players are concerned just handle this like you did modLoader and put MCF into your minecraft jar, then follow the installation instructions for individual MCF mods.

edit: Obviously use the most recent version. There is no support for depreciated versions.

Hey I know this is extremely generic, so my apologies.

Biome Water is not working with Optifine. As in Optifine breaks it. I tested it once without optifine and the biome water was good to go, and then put optifine on and the water reverted to default color. For testing purposes I had positioned myself in a location where I could see at least two water colors at once.

I know that neither Biome water nor Optifine share any files, and in fact you have to have Optifine to have the water animations.

So any ideas? I know it is not any of the other mods as the problem would exist before I put on Optifine and not after.

Sure they can. Try putting one on the ground first, which will give you a click box that will let you then add one to the side. You can peel up the ground-facing one after. I've never even looked at the painting code, there's no resemblance at all internally. You can place more than one in the same block - six in 1.6.0, but there are 21 new positions to put subblocks coming in 1.7.0, with hundreds of new subblock types available.

And that is why that fellow earlier complaining about your method of having multiple blocks sharing a single ID does not comprehend the beauty of what you have done.

Sorry to go off topic and spam

With a little creative coverplate tinkering I managed to get them all isolated, each row was then bundled together so I have 25 wires into 5 cables, this mod is astounding :biggrin.gif:.

I believe the light blocks can have the wire go right up to them, so the torches can be removed, which might eliminate some of the signal inversion you will get with that setup (based on what I can see anyways)

Anyone know if it's possible to have a matrix of 5x5 Light Blocks next to each other and be able to power each one individually of the others?

with some creative cover plate usage you could isolate signals for what I am guessing you need. Remember that wires can be placed on the outside of cover plates. Have not tested with free-standing plates though, that might be different.

What's the difference between the standard version and the buggy MTL version, even though it's for dual-cores (NOT)?

The multi-threading version is a current experiment that he is doing to see if he can get a little more performance out of Minecraft for people who have a multi-core or hyper-threaded cpu. It actually does make a difference, but it is still a beta idea and thus has a lot of bugs still, as you pointed out.

In terms of features, both have the same features.

If you are having performance issues with the normal version and you have a multi-core or a hyperthreaded cpu then try the other version. If you are not having performance problems or do not have a very very specific reason to use it, then there is not really a reason to use it.
