posted a message on Can't launch in 14w02c
Not sure if this should go here or technical support.
I would put this on the bug tracker, but I really don't know if this is a problem with my game or something else.

Since 14w02c, I can't launch. It downloads the snapshot, finishes, "Job 'Version & Libraries' finished successfully", it tries to launch, and then crashes and gives me "Client> Error: Could not find or load main class net.minecraft.client.main.Main", and "Ignoring visibility rule and showing launcher due to a game crash".

I can launch 14w02b perfectly fine.
The reason I'm not sure if it's me or what is because ever since the new music was added, I've had trouble with downloading things successfully. Whenever it downloads sounds, I have to check to make sure all the ogg files are whole, and if they're incomplete, I delete them and repeat the downloading process. I think part of it is my internet, all the time it decides to cut off and then immediately reconnect when it feels like it, and it's fairly slow, etc.
But as new features are added, the folders get more and more complex, and now it's ridiculously tedious to hunt down any files that are incomplete and delete and redownload them.

Also, every time it crashes, the "Welcome, [username]" part still says "Ready to download & play Minecraft 14w02c" instead of changing to just "Ready to play Minecraft 14w02c."
I've tried deleting the 14w02c folder in the versions folder, too.

Something strange as well is that my assets folder just has the folders "indexes," "objects" and "virtual," instead of the usual folders. The "virtual" folder has "legacy" which contains the original stuff.
I mention that because I don't know if that's just because of the update or because of a mod or something. I hope it's not because of the snapshot, because if that's the case, it'll just make it even more confusing to figure out where to put modified sounds in a resource pack...

posted a message on Minecraft 2.0: Hints to the Future?
The only things I'd say are directly inspired by Minecraft 2.0 is tinted glass and coal blocks. The initial texture for coal blocks when it was added in 1.6 snapshots was identical to the texture for it in Minecraft 2.0 (a recolor of redstone blocks), and I'm pretty sure the same is true for tinted glass.
Everything else is probably mostly coincidental. Maybe horses were inspired by the joke horses, too.

Speaking of April Fools, I hope this year they do another big (public) fake update, full of the worst popular suggestions to show people why they are bad suggestions.

CUBIC CHUNKS!!!?????? plz plz plz plz plz plz
    Wait no.

Yeah it's probably dynamic/colored lights. IIRC TheMogMiner was hired for helping with the internal systems 'cause he's good with the lighting coding. Also he already made a colored lights mod.

Or an awesome skin update, considering the launcher news.

posted a message on Removal of spawning via Item IDs?
I voted yes, but not for the reason in the poll choice. I say yes because there will be no ID conflicts in mods.

posted a message on What will Minecraft look like in a couple years?
The idea that it will be a bunch of random, pointless features is just plain stupid. Literally none of the mechanics, items, commands or blocks in the game are pointless or unreasonable. Even sponges and bats. Everything recently added, and that we know is going to be added, has a purpose.

I could see development stopping, or at least slowing after the Mod API is out.

The amount of lag 1.7 caused many already is proving this future true.

For everyone I know, 1.7 reduced lag. Do you have Framerate set to Unlimited in the settings?

They better not metal in my affairs.

Wow that was bad. Anyway, that's not going to happen.

    That was awesome.

Maybe Mojang added a new chest which made out of obsidian.

That makes sense. A Netherchest, invulnerable to explosions, sealed by a Blaze rod or Magma cream or something.

posted a message on Quests, purpose, storyline...
Doesn't really fit Minecraft at all. I could see it happening if it was just a little hint of explanation (like a rare book page you can find in stronghold chests, maybe touching on the Enderdragon being evil), but nothing intrusive. Definitely not quests, though.

Just so you know, there's a CustomNPCs mod that lets you create specific quests and NPCs and stories of your own.

posted a message on If You Could Make A Biome, What would it be?
    I have two ideas:

An immense, flat wasteland with the occasional tree, and there could be a huge dangerous structure in the center with lots of unique loot.

Skylands, which wouldn't be just a floating island above the surface, but a gap in the earth that leads to the void, with clusters of floating islands at the top.

I agree. It's a stupid design. It should be changed so that the only limit is to stop polar opposite biomes from spawning next to each other (e.g. snow biomes next to deserts or mesas).

Are there any thaumcraft items that are prone to making lag? Everytime I look at my house, I get a massive fps drop. Thaumcraft related items in my house are:

Research Table, Deconstruction Table, Infernal Furnace, 2 Golems, 4 Arcane Bellows (1 is attached to my regular furnace) and 6 Nitor.

I'd be shocked if Nitor didn't cause lag. I have a ton of it spread throughout my Creative Superflat world and I get a lot of FPS lag lately, and it goes away when I'm not near Nitor.

I doubt it. Golems have functionally replaced a lot of them.

All I can remember offhand is the teleportation and spewing fire (which could be used as a trap, since golems can't spew fire and attacking golems can be killed easily). But I do remember there was a lot more they did that golems can't.

I hope those awesome Golem Animation Cores in the textures get added... I love companion mobs that aren't just normal pets. :D
And I hope the Arcane Seals return too! I cannot contain my excitement!
