posted a message on What's the best 1.13 resource pack so far?

I haven't been able to find any that retexture all the new stuff - turtles, phantoms, conduit, corals, etc. It can't be that no one's done it yet? I see resource packs that say they've been updated for 1.13, but seem not to have textures for the new blocks and mobs. If someone can point me to something good - especially in higher resolution - I'd sure appreciate it.

posted a message on New Bed textures help

Thank you Mihro, although I already had the files from another pack, and my problem was getting my old bed texture pieced together onto the new one. I have it all figured out now except for the legs, and some of the problem seems to be that the new bed is apparently different proportions than the old, and the legs on my old texture are not going to match up on the new - I will have to go back and re-work the texture some.

I was also wondering if there is any way to keep the files for each color from applying that color to the whole bed? My texture has some wooden parts, and the game now turns not just the fabric parts but the wood green on the green bed, magenta on the magenta bed, and so on. The texture doesn't look near as good when the wood is tinted in weird and unrealistic colors. Is there no way around this in 1.12?

posted a message on New Bed textures help

I'm having a little trouble altering my previous custom bed textures to fit the new ones in 1.12. I can't even find a template for the new ones. I can see some people have it figured out as there are resource packs out for 1.12 that have new bed textures that look nice. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks very much.

By the way, I get that the bed is an entity now and you have to edit the file for each bed color in the entity folder. I just don't quite see how the texture in that file is fitting on the model. Thanks.

posted a message on Never gets past "Downloading Native Launcher" screen

So I finally did try uninstalling Webroot from my computer - it didn't seem to be the issue. Even without it I continued to have problems with the new launcher - over and over again I tried uninstalling and even manually deleting all Minecraft folders and files from my computer, and re -installing with the new launcher. A couple of times it did install and start up with the new launcher, but even when this happened, if I closed the game and tried to start it again a second time, I couldn't.

Eventually I found that the website still has the old Java-based launcher for download, and after updating my Java I used this and it is working. I have Webroot back on since it isn't interfering any with Minecraft, and getting rid of it didn't help. I do wish I could use the new launcher though, since it says that it is "faster" since it doesn't rely on Java. I wouldn't be tied to having to update Java every so often, as well. Can you think of a reason the new launcher isn't working for me, knowing now that Webroot wasn't the cause?

I can't find Control Active Processes in my control panel, maybe it's called something else since I'm running Windows 7? I did make sure Windows Firewall was set to allow Minecraft and Java.

I'm not sure you read my questions and concerns about getting rid of Webroot. I'm looking for help getting Minecraft working, but without losing a program that is important to my system's security, and which hasn't prevented us from playing Minecraft for the last several years. I really appreciate your help with that.

Also, I tried turning off Webroot's Realtime Shield, Web Shield, and firewall, and Minecraft still wouldn't start. If it was Webroot blocking the game, I would think that would make a difference. I do appreciate your help and don't want to be a doubter, but if Webroot is the problem it has a funny way of showing it.

    I did remove Akamai.

Do you mean uninstall Webroot temporarily, just until I can reinstall and run Minecraft the first time, and then I can put it back on and it won't interfere? Webroot has done a great job of protecting my computers for the last three years, and I have most of a year left on my paid subscription, so I don't really want to just scrap it. And it hasn't interfered with Minecraft before now - is it just the new launcher it doesn't like?

MInecraft stopped launching after going to that newest launcher a few days ago. Eventually I deleted the came and all folders, and re-installed. But when I try to launch, the little "Downloading Native Launcher" screen comes up, with a progress bar that moves toward 38.81 Mb, and when it gets to the end it resets to 0, and continues endlessly. On rare occasions when it gets to the end it has brought up another larger window, as if Minecraft will start. But this window is blank, and remains blank - nothing happens. The only thing in my .minecraft folder is a file called launcher_log, when I open it the contents are as follows:

    [0213/224557:INFO:LauncherAppBrowser.cpp(24)] Work dir is C:\Users\Matthew\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft

    [0213/224557:INFO:ClientHandler.cpp(182)] Creating launcher window.

[0213/224557:ERROR:child_process_launcher.cc(533)] Failed to launch child process
    [0213/224604:INFO:ClientHandler.cpp(149)] Shutting down!

Deleting and reinstalling isn't helping - please help.

posted a message on Spider textures no longer work

I had been playing Minecraft version 1.8, when at all, and just finally upgraded now that 1.11 is out. I'm finding the spider textures in my resource packs do not show up. I'm talking even packs that have supposedly upgraded to 1.11. Can anyone think what is wrong? Did the spider model change size/shape, or did the name change that the file should be called, or something else??

You know, the little symbols that float out of the bookshelf into the enchanting table book? They aren't replacing. Even if I just take the file out of someone else's pack and drop it mine, in-game you just see the default symbols. Any guesses why? It is unmodded Minecraft I'm trying this in, version 1.8.8. Thanks.

posted a message on Has anyone made a truly round shield model? Not a blocky "round-ish" one?

This is for a resource pack for my own private use, and I'm ok with not being able to use banners on the shield. Although I would have thought you could just edit the banner designs files so they fit.

Ok, does anyone know of a pack with a high poly round shield model, if that is the only way to get the desired effect?

How with a high res texture? Since it won't fit the model?
