I agree with fm87 also, If you can find the product key sticker on the computer case or documentation if you have it. You can grab any copy of windows 7 as long as it is same version "home premium, business, ultimate, etc", each version has 32/64 bit. There is many places to get a ISO, but you will need a legal key in order to do so. If I recall, you may be able to download the Trial from Microsoft and then burn to DVD and install, then activate it with your key.
I found the Product Key, thanks. But I do not fully understand what I do now. Also, what is an ISO?
You do not need to re-buy windows. If the CD key is still on the bottom of the laptop just use someone else's disk (make sure it's the same version) and enter the key. Or burn a copy. (Just make sure it's the same version as the product key on the bottom of your laptop.)
I cannot find a CD key on the bottom nor do I know anyone with Windows on a disk.
Any chance you know the Model number and make if possible and what Brand "Dell, HP, Compaq, Etc". I know most computers from 2 years ago some still came with recovery DVDs but some did not. Some companies, such as HP for example will offer recovery DVDs for a small fee. However there is reason why, but I will not go into detail.
Would the Model Number be the same thing as the Product ID? Also, it says "ASUS" in big letters on the monitor, leading me to think that that is the brand
Most computers now a days do NOT come with a recovery DVD. However there is a hidden partition on your Hard Drive"s" that contains a recovery DVD, aka Recovery Partition.
If you can give us the model, brand name of the computer, then we can locate the information that may help get a recovery started. Note, that most of the time this will not delete your files and just puts them into a folder called Windows.old. That is if you select it to do so, if not it wipes the OS partition and re-installs "factory" style, like when you first turned the PC on.
The model is ASUS Notebook K60IJ Series. The brand name is ASUS
