I never even seen a diamond but yes I do share your frustration of being lost. I spent almost 2 hours trying to escape the deadly labyrinth I created onto myself... :/
I finally escaped after mining all the ores and blocking off dead ends...
my game name is the same as my forum name... and my play style is.. ugh.. well normal? I enjoy building and such. Giant projects are fun for me, although in SP they're quite boring... Looking forward to SMP! I've love to have an actual thriving economy and community of people. I guess in small ways I appreciate a LITTLE rp. Not going "Oh Sir lancalot, who do you do?!" not like that.
TLDR: Im a good architect, I like mining, I like social interactions.. and I behave, I don't go round mic-spamming and burning everything.
I've also had many, many ,past clan/guild participation as a member and leader.. if it means anything.
Looking at the last few posts, I could host. My computer's not that bad, and I could host almost 24/7. (Canada)
EDIT:
[Yes very bad grammar, I'm personally a grammar-Nazi, but I felt too lazy to fix]
The release will work as a downloadable .jar file that can be run from the command line and an .exe that runs a graphical interface for the server.
To connect to a server, you will need to enter the IP for the server, and open up the required ports (the default port is the same as for minecraft classic, 25565)
I have to agree the fron-page is quite lacking in info...
I myself found out about Minecraft via the TF2 blog.
I think your suggestion would prove more friendly to newer players. I'm pretty sure people who saw the rollercoaster video would just pass MC as a some weird 24-bit arcade game xD
(Notch read?)
EDIT:
But then again MC is a indie game, which relies on ACTUAL GOOD GAMEPLAY rather than bombarding the world with LYING cinematic gameplay trailers. Look at MC, it's flooding with people; mostly of whom found out from blogs, friends, and sites (ETC) which I think is how a good game SHOULD spread.
