I've been recently planning the second installment to my 'Mini Adventures' series in my thread. I'm doing this to make up for the inactivity on my thread that has been going for quite some time now (Though I'm still working on Legends of Argonia), so here's something to get you excited. The basic plans I've got so far are:
- Siege, a difficult 3 wool CTM
- Choose a class to play as!
- This gives you a starting kit and then you are free to do as you please!
- I'm planning straight on action from the start, but resource gathering (such as potion materials, wood etc) is mixed in also.
I've showcased one of the 4 classes available below though poorly made, the Ember Knight!
-snip-
imma just drop dis pic o' dis area i been making off right hur. keep in mind the current version has some hanging tree things that i might be removing, and there's actually variation in the walls in the finished version.
This is a transitional area (meaning no wools) called Vesper Road. I know it still needs some work (some of which has been done since i took this picture) but i thought i'd drop this off
May I question how you made those top-down 1 block wide spires.
Please don't start that conversation again (wanted to reply but decided to stop)...
About the simplicity, take the first area of UT3
It is grayish only, with a bit of vines. It looks kinda the same everywhere, but I (and I know more) did like it alot. Not because of the gigantic, complex feeling, but because of the simple, but balanced style.
Been working on my map a bit, have a feeling something is wrong...
t/c?
Hm... The ground seems a little bit too dark, maybe add redstone torches or if making the ground dark is what you wanted, maybe change those stained clay around to something else, maybe white stained clay
I hate choosing block variation, if you like any of these just say a number... I should just man up and choose something I like but oh well... I need netherrack for what I'm doing, also, If you perfer something else just suggest... *cough*
I prefer 3. There isn't any stained clay because they're too mainstream.

Community question:
How much lore and adventure features do you like in a CTM map?
I kinda like lores added to areas because for the mapmaker may be able to try learning poetry cus poetry is manly and for the players, they can have theories about a certain area and make the map experience greater and when they provide the theory to the mapper, they can just be claim that that was how the whole thing was formed if they are just providing random literary lores to areas.
Are there purple nosed monkeys?
On an unrelated note:
I think colored clay so far is quite useful for making areas within the cool colors spectrum, think about it, we have a dimension dedicated to firey stuff and no dimension for snowy stuff other than taigas, which are everywhere in vanilla MC.
Nah, people forget strength potions gained a massive buff. You can 2-hit anything with a wooden sword and strength 2, and 1 hit anything with a diamond sword.
Edit: Experimenting with stained clay a bit, does this block-combination look alright?
It looks quite nice, add a bit of dirt there if you want to give it a more gravelly feel, I think Stained Clay is going to be the new sandstone
I Believe BMajor did a post about this a few pages back but he provided this cool name generator and maybe it can help with your situation

Is there a Zisteau class in the map?
Solution:
1.) Go to MCedit
2.) Delete all entities
3.) ???
4.) Profit

Looks a bit like a pyramid, there is good block variation though but maybe add a little bit of sand near the water
