I might just be doing something wrong here... but is changing the function of the various sides of the machines not currently working? I wanted to try to fully automate my miner... but it won't take fuel or tools out of chests nearby.
My resource pack has (as many do) a custom zombie skin. This mod, however, has it's own textures for zombies (male and female, clearly) which don't fit in with the rest of the world now because they're the default texture. I suppose that it makes sense to do it this way because most resource packs don't have a female zombie texture, but I'm just wondering if there was another specific reason as for why it was done like this.
That is to say, would I break the thing by trying to replace the default male/female zombie textures from this mod with with custom ones?
Out of curiosity... why is it that the player's body can utilize any skin downloaded off the internet, but the zombie bodies can't just use the texture from my resource pack?
The 1.8 version seems to have quite a few issues left to iron out.
I keep finding stacks of blocks whose icons are the generic error icons... piston traps activating crashes the game... some weird stuff going on. Still, it's been a blast so far. I love the design of the dungeons. In fact... if I can ever manage to clear this damn thing out... I intend to live in it. Just gotta find all those pesky pressure-plates and bust 'em up.
-Edit-
Now I'm very confused. I hadn't been able to find one of those pistons involved in the trap, on account of the area being dark and full of mobs. I'd assumed there was some kind of issue with it pushing one of those odd blocks with error icons or something... but it turns out that ANY piston crashes the game. Which means I can't really confirm whether it has anything to do with the dungeon itself or not. This is the first time I've come across a piston since installing Forge and all my mods again... so I didn't really think to try it out normally.
Now I've got to do some digging. Could be that the weird blocks in the loot and broken dungeons is just a symptom of some other broken mod.
Never seen the chest bug, are you on the 1.8 version? As far as Dark Oak it should have a EMC value but ill look into it, perhaps there is a recipe in your pack making it too cheap to have a value. You can override it with a custom EMC value by holding it in your hand and typing "/projecte setEMC 256" where 256 is whatever value you want it to have.
Thanks for the command. I still hadn't figured it out, so hopefully now I can give it a proper EMC. Strangely, it's the only wood type log that doesn't have one for me. Wonder what's up with that.
As for the chest, yes. I'm using the 1.8 build. It's showing up perfectly fine once I place it in the world, but for some reason the item image is nonexistent. It's not too much of a problem, except I worry I'll accidentally throw it out of my inventory and lose it if I'm not careful.
Any guesstimate as to how far your 1.8 version is from being complete? I'm debating whether or not I want to start up a new world. I'll probably do it looks like I'll be waiting a while on the wasteland... but I might be incline to hold off if it's just around the corner.
Aside from the oddness of my Alchemical Chests being invisible in my inventory, I've yet to encounter anything I'd consider a bug. I'm still trying to figure out why Dark Oak logs don't have an EMC... but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that that was something I could fix on my end with a config or some command or something?
Anyhow, good stuff all around. Very competently built, and just like I remember EE2. I've been waiting a long time for someone to do this properly, and I am not disappointed in the least.
ok so sorry to be this kid but I need help. Ever sense resource packs have come out I've had nothing but trouble with them... I'm trying to install Last days and I just cant get it to work, I've tried all sorts of things from just placing it in the resource packs folder, to using MCpatcher, to converting it with Texture Ender and even just unzipping it, I cant seem to get it... I don't know maybe I'm just bad at this! haha but please if someone could help me out with some better instructions then the four steps it gives you on the first page I seriously would appreciate it so please any detailed instructions I really appreciate! thanks!
Right. First things first, make sure that you've got the right version resource pack and that it was properly downloaded. No errors, broken files, anything like that. happens sometimes on the server-side of things, so if I sound like that broken-record tech support guy don't take it personally. It's just standard procedure.
Assuming that the files you got are indeed 100% correct, you SHOULD be able to just open up the resource pack folder in your .minecraft directory and stick Last Days in there. If this is what you're doing and it doesn't work, I don't rightly know what the solution is. The whole installation process for resource packs is almost identical to that of installing regular texture packs. Just a differently named folder.
(Be sure you're not EXTRACTING the Last Days file, too. Again... these are just the basic 'help I'm having trouble' answers, so sorry if it seems like I'm treating you'd make every idiot mistake in the book. And hey, even if you are... we all gotta start somewhere.)
Now, there's supposed to be a language file... and it DOES show up... but it seems to do nothing.
I looked through here, and I saw a few people saying that it was causing crashes and what-not when they tried to load it up... but that's not the problem. The problem I'm having is that it changes nothing when I select it.
I'm a bit too busy at the moment to throw anything together, but I'll probably drop in and see about whipping something up in the character department sometime soonish. Assuming, of course, you folks still have room for me.
The problem you're getting is an item ID conflict. When two items from two mods share the same ID, instead of crashing, one overwrites the other. However, the recipe remains, so you're going to get weird things where the recipe for one thing gives you another thing.
Just muck about with the configs, that should fix your issue.
Aha! That explains why I wasn't getting any crashes or error reports, despite the fact that things were very obviously going wrong. I've never really run into this problem before... but recently... I've been a bit enthralled with all the awesome options available to me. Guess I'mma go tweaking some of those item IDs and see if I can't fix it.
Thanks for the heads up. I was getting a bit distressed... thought I might have to give something up!
I keep getting this problem cropping up with certain mods, and I'm curious as to what might be causing them.
I'm pretty sure the recipe for what I'm guessing is a nuclear reactor, nor the recipe for various other industrial machinery of some sort (I vaguely recognize it... but I can't quite figure out which machines they are) aren't supposed to be giving me a Hepatizon Axe. Other such strangeness has cropped up with other mods... so I'm not suggesting that it's this... I'm just curious as to whether this has come up with other folks before and what, if anything, I can do about it.
I run a lot of mods, and I don't use a special launcher of any sort offering compatability (because they lag my already-laggy game to high hell. The joys of having a High-End PC that's 3 generations out of date)... so is this a fixable problem? Or is this just one of the hazards of running too many mods at once?

I'd give anything just to have an up-to-date mod that allows me to ignore Mojang's horrible anvil and everything catastrophically wrong with it.
None of the old mods changing repair, anvils, or anything are up-to-date. I've been scouring the net for a week desperately, to no avail.

This sounds interesting. Very interesting.
I'm going to have to track it.

Here's hoping that you do... this is too good to be left by the wayside.
Easily one of the best looking Wastelands I've seen in my long search.
