it's not so much "blind devotion" as it is "being patient and knowing that **** will get fixed." There's a difference between bitching about bugs and actually reporting bugs so Notch/Jeb/etc can deal with them for the next patch. So put this in perspective:

You are Notch/Jeb and are on bug report duty. Are you going to:
A: Look in the actual Bug Report forum and/or thread
B: Look at the 1000+ topics of people bitching about bugs
    C: Play Skyrim

If you said anything but A you're doing it wrong. As noticeable as the 1000+ "OMFG MINECRAFT IS BUGGED" topics are, the best place for them to deal with, gather info, specifics, etc on the bugs is from the people who aren't acting like spastic 12 year old XBox Live gamers in the bug report forums. Most of the people who've been playing Minecraft since day one (hi) understand this since the day the game was available to purchase and furthermore, knows Notch and Co. will fix the bugs as they have been since day one. That's why you see these people telling the whiners to shut up.

    1) You still haven't answered my post.
    2) 1 year is a suspiciously long time waiting for lanterns to be solved. And additional water content. And modding API. And flying transport. My my, does your patience endure. Or maybe you're just attempting to forget broken promises?

Small problem here...most (if not all) of us bought the game before the "official release". So this argument is more of people who haven't pre-ordered the game like we have.

As for full games being glitched and bugged to hell, i point over at Magicka; though the game has had near constant updates and patches to fix many many problems the game had since release. Minecraft is no different in this regard and we -are- going to get more patches and updates to fix the current (and possibly) future bugs/problems. As far as i see it, you guys are like a nagging housewife who is TRYING to find things to ***** at her husband, dispite him trying his best.

Seriously, if all you people want to do is ***** and whine about Minecraft, stop playing, don't buy the game, give it to someone else (if that's possible) or hell, go email Notch for a refund since you aren't satisfied. Pretty sure he'll do it while making a :sad.gif: What's the point of you playing the game for the past 0-2 years if your gona whine and ***** about every little thing under the square sun. No, really, i'm ****ing serious... get a refund. Go email notch/jeb/whoever..ask for a damn refund or delete the game or give it to someone who actually wants the game.

The game clearly isn't up to any of your standards so just get your money back or get the **** out if you can't do that. You clearly don't like minecraft..stop playing it. Stop dealing with it. Stop looking at it. Stop pretending you love the game when you constantly put it down and beat it like an abusive husband. Simple--****ing--solution.

We could do with a nice thinning of this "fanbase" anyways...i miss the community during InDev...

I now carry over your wondrous, awe-inspiring philosophy to other aspects of life: I have a friend who used to be a great, fun guy who balanced work and play. Over time, he degenerated into a narrow-minded, anti-social slug who totally forfeited his effort into his work to go and play video games. Following your logic, I should stop being friends with the guy and just dump him on someone else, or even better, the street. After all, I kinda realised after a while he DIDN'T fit my moral standards or work ethics and I kept complaining about him. I should stop dealing with it. Stop looking at him. Stop pretending I love him when I constantly put him down. It's PERFECTLY REASONABLE. Right?

But it IS still in beta stage.

There is absolutely no indication that minecraft is fit for an official release at this point in time apart from the version number and price tag.

While I agree, be prepared for a lambasting by the Notchelites. I think it would go something like, "Your totally wrong and screwed up man because the label says 1.0.0 man! Dur! Get a life!"

    Along those lines.

...please, for the love of God, shut up. Notch stated that this is more of a milestone release and Jeb has confirmed that the game will continue with development. What part of adding two little words to something changes it? It's still the same Minecraft we've been playing, but now you all are criticizing it for its flaws because it is a "full release".

You all complain that Minecraft needs to have a stable version of the game with no bugs, yet when Jeb takes the time to fix these bugs for you, you complain about that too. I honestly don't understand the logic of some of you people sometimes. We've had damn near too many topics about this on this board and it needs to stop. Admins should start removing these kinds of topics for God's sake

I find you extremely adverse to criticsm. Before 18 Nov, complaints of all kinds, whether trolling or constructive, were shot down with the "it's in BETAA" argument. Now, when the full release is out, criticsm is STILL squashed with your new-fangled "development will still continue" argument. Granted, I give Mojang the generous benefit of the doubt that development will continue, but is that any adequate reason to ban and discourage criticsm? If anything, complaints and issues about the game during "beta" stage (it was actually just a nametag for Notch to have extra time to develop it) should have been rounded up, organised, and sent off to Mojang for review. ALL OF THEM. It would probably take Mojang just a few minutes to sift through the real, valid arguments and the trash. But NO, the community takes a hardline, "all criticsms are illogical and half assed bcos Notch is always right" stance. I've seen several posts of "Hey, where are the lanterns?" or "When will more water content be released" which got shot down with the "shut up man notch will release it at 1.0.0" argument. I honestly don't understand the logic of YOU people!

Here's a question: Why is the minecraft community so divided over the "Minecraft has gone astray" topic? Why? What made minecraft go down this partiucular, broken promises-rpgish-less sandboxy path? Was it because Notch doesn't care? Or maybe he's too lazy? No. We've seen that he is very in touch with the community through his twitter posts and minecon, so obviously that's not the answer. It's because he didn't know what we wanted. All this time, the legit complaints and ideas that would have greatly improved the game have crushed along with the real trash. BY US. So, the only message Notch got was "Hey, we think your'e doing fantastic, just keep making what you want!!" As a result, he did make what he wanted, which actually wasn't what many of us wanted.

You are making an argument against a complaint raised about the result of a game which is marred with broken promises, caused by the very essence of your argument. It is so ironic and sad at once, that the minecraft community has been painfully divorced with this argument, and that you now attempt to patch up the divide with the thing that split it. Good job.

    1) In the same place as you set javaw.exe to use the Nvidia processor, in the Nvidia Control Panel, scroll down.
    2) Nvidia.com!

Well, I tried to install the 280.26 driver, but every time I download and run the installer it keeps saying "installation failed" at the first step and I can't continue. Did I screw anything up?

Are you using the Latest LWGL Lib?

No, but then again I thought that wouldn't really affect performance that much would it?

If you want to melt your laptop that sounds like a good idea.
Try forcing on Vertical Sync for the javaw.exe, this will cap you at 60fps but should help with it overheating.

What drivers are you using the for Nvidia card?
The 285. series have issues with Minecraft, so try the 280.26 is you haven't already.

Being a noob, I have to ask: 1) What is vertical sync for javaw.exe. 60 fps is good enough for me anyway.

    2) How do I change my driver? Or how do I even know what it is in the first place? 0.0

Maybe try upgrading to 1.95. If it doesn't work you can always just revert back to 1.8.1.

Edit: I Googled ThrottleStop, I'de use its monitoring features to see if anything interesting happens CPU before adjusting things. Though you could always use the Task Manager for that...

Already tried to switch to 1.9. pre5. No noticeable change.

So should I use throttlestop to boost my laptop and (hypothetically) increase minecraft performance and stop the lag?

How was it before you tweaked the .exe? Unlikely, but maybe you discovered a memory leak or similar by giving it too much RAM to leak to. You know, now that it can affect another 3.75GB of memory it's making a noticeable difference.

How are other programs once you close Minecraft (or even while you're running it)?

The fps decrease was faster with the original exe, altering it to run at 4GBs just slowed down the process. Other programs and 3D games run fine on the laptop, with little to no lag.

    Quote from Deadalready

What version of MC are you running? There's a memory leak problem with MC that's apparently only just fixed in version 1.95

As a short term fix you may wish to install "Gamebooster", make sure OpenGL support is on and drop your view distance to normal. Yes it sucks but the problem isn't with how you're running Minecraft as far as I can tell ~ but more with the programming probs inherent within Minecraft.

I play 1.8.1. And I have tried gamebooster, which strangely sped up the fps decrease, so I uninstalled it.

I did some research and found some programs that might be able to help. Do you guys think ThrottleStop could solve the problem?

What type of surface are you using it on?

If it's a hard surface, you may want to get one of the cooling stations that you can set it on that has auxillary fans to help draw heat away. You might also try elevating it 1/8-1/4 inch using some small risers on all 4 corners.

Another good option is running some compressed air through it to blow out any dust.

If it's on a soft surface, move it to a hard one.

If I recall Speed-Fan Requires certain motherboard chipsets to work. There may not be a setup that will work with your laptop as most are a propriety design for the motherboard.

Everything you're stating just sounds like a throttling issue to me more and more. Over time degredation, goes away but comes back after a brief delay, and returns faster than before if you don't leave it for an extended period of time.

I have a cooling station, but it's really rickety and won't last long if I carry my laptop around often, which I do. That's why I hope to find a program that will change fan speed to allieviate this heating up process.

    Is the laptop getting hot?

It may be a thermal throtteling issue as minecraft is very graphics/processor intensive (despite not looking like it).

Yes. Now that you mention it, I think its overheating. But when I installed speedfan to attempt to change fan speed, the program didn't list any fans that speed could be changed, so I'm still stuck. Do you know any other more user-friendly fan speed control programs?

Reloading the world works for me.

It does work, but to a certain extent. If I close a world and immediately reopen it, the fps starts out at 40-50 fps, and decreases at an increased rate. I need to leave a world to "cool down" for about 10-20 minutes before it starts out at 70-100 fps. :tongue.gif:

Is your performance in Minecraft set to Max FPS?

Yes. And most animations and stuff are turned off. And this problem is quite annoying, since I play minecraft for extended periods like 3-4 hours. So sadly, mehing isn't an option.
