Warning: Trolls are allergic to this suggestion and it is LONG!
Greetings to you, miners of diamonds! As you know, in 1.8 leveling and experience was introduced into the game. However, it serves no purpose as of yet, and even in 1.9, from the pre-release, we can determine there will not be a use for it in 1.9 either. So here is what I want experience to be.
Okay, so we already know that enemies drop experience orbs when killed. First of all, I think that in your XP bar will be text that displays the percentage of completion in the XP bar. At the top will be a panel that tells you your skill points (later on) and your current level, like that of PaperBatVG's latest video. Every time you level up, you will gain skill points.
You gain five skill points whenever you level up. As you level up, you need more experience to level up, so it is easy to farm skill points at lower levels, but as you level up it will become increasingly more difficult. Skill points could be used in bulk to purchase perks (read on) and skills. Skills will alter things such as speed of mining blocks, damage done, and so on. Here are a few I know of so far:
Archery - Determines your damage with the Bow and Arrow.
Woodcutting - Determines the speed of cutting with axes.
Mining - Determines the speed in which you mine stone and various ores (obsidian included).
Swordsmanship - Determines the damage you do with swords.
Learning - Determines how much experience you need to gain a level.
And so on. I think these would add to the game and make leveling and experience something to focus on when you start a world. Now for the perks.
Perks would be like skills, but you would spend five skill points on a single rank of a perk every level. Perks give you certain traits and special abilities, like faster sprinting and higher jump height. Each perk has three ranks, and each rank gives 1/2 more effectiveness than the previous level. Here are some examples:
Fast Feet - Increases overall movement speed by 5%.
Strong Legs - Increases jump height by 1/2 blocks and reduces falling damage.
Resourceful - Gives you a 10% chance to get two of whatever block you break.
Slayer - Increases damage dealt by critical hits by 5%.
These are only a few examples. There will be lots more in the future. I propose the level cap to be 50, giving you 500 potential skill points. This can add to the game, and if you are a miner, you can get certain traits and if you are a fighter you can get others.
Thank you for taking the time to read my suggestion. Please leave feedback, and if you like it, recommend it to your friends. Thanks!

True_Capitalist_Radio posted a message on Eclipse DaysEvery first of the month, like the paycheck of a ghetto capitalist, there is a 50% chance of an eclipse turning. (By month I mean minecraft month) There is a day where the sun is blocked by the moon itself. When this happens, mobs spawn rapidly and vastly, all throughout the effected land. But the bad part is, no matter what difficulty it is, the mob's power is increased by 20%. Their eyes grow red (Spider eyes grow red-er) They glow bright, and the night is even darker than normal. (Maybe theres a benefit on the eye glow thing?)Posted in: Suggestions
Another interesting effect of this, is that redstone, torches, yellowstone, and any other source of light is gone. They don't disappear, but they just turn off. Yellowstone is still there, but it just doesnt glow. Oh, sorry I just realized it was called glowstone. Anyway, all light sources turn off, leaving you to hide in your house, with the chance no mobs spawn in there. Dont be scared, once the light reshines back on you, you can use all those sources again.

Kleevage posted a message on Island City [WIP] Updated 9/03 (clock tower and cathedral)Hey all, I'm going to be posting screenshots of my WIP island city. I'll update this thread as I build, and I'll make separate threads for larger buildings that I feel are worthy of more individual pics (like my wizard tower seen here). I hope you enjoy them!Posted in: Screenshots
Entertainment District
Library
Hotel
Live Theatre
Art Gallery
Clock Tower
North Docks
Trade Ship
Homes
Wizard Tower (Click for more pics!)
Cathedral (Interior not finished)
That's it for now! If you'd like to see anything in particular, just ask! I haven't done the interiors on a lot of the buildings so far, so I'm not posting that for now (and may not at all). All feedback is appreciated! -
