How is Pokemon Diamond/Pearl hard? I found it to be about the same difficulty as the rest of em.
Same with SMG. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is even harder than the first.
No offence meant, i'm just asking.

Well part of the problem was back then, I was nowhere near as good at Pokemon games as I am now. At the time I had not fully figured out the rock-paper-scizor formula of the game yet. I mean, I was starting to utilize type match-ups at the time, but I was still ignoring them a lot, especially later in the game.

I've never played SMG2, but SMG DOES seem to have a nasty difficulty spike later in the game, around the last two observatories (forget what they are called) or so. It could be that I maybe suck, but at the same time, I cannot truly enjoy the game for the myriad of reasons I listed in my earlier post. If I play any longer than an hour I start getting frustrated.

An absolutely massive difficulty spike with Fantina and the Elite Four that's missing in Platinum.

And lets not forget the absurdity of fighting all three galactic admins at sky pillar, Cyrus, AND Palkia/Dialga, with no healing breaks between battles and no turning back.

You also don't know true pain until you've faced Cynthia. Her Garchomp was so OP, and her Pokemon had virtually no type weaknesses as far as I know. But even if you did have some Pokemon that were good counters to Cynthia's, there was no way you could counter them all, and even if you could, her Garchomp would just easily take all of them out anyway.

posted a message on Should Mojang start work on Minecraft 2?
    Quote from ANARKY

Why would a company invest in 10 people's salary to make a game thats pretty much guaranteed to sell millions of copies? Dunno bro.

Because, like I said, it would take years. If they made it entirely from scratch with brand new code, using the same amount of people as the ones currently working on the regular game, working solely on the sequel.

You also have to keep in mind that with successful versions on other platforms like the X360 version. Part of the reason why they are here to begin with is because of A: They are coded in Java, which is a VERY multi-platform friendly programming language. And B: They are ports, which are ports of the source code to the new system, with possible minor modifications.

The other successful versions are here because they are ports written in java, they came out quickly. A remake/sequel doesn't have that luxury, one that would probably be largely similar to the original.

There is also the fact that one of this biggest reasons the versions of the game on different platforms are so successful, is due to them being on different platforms. Why on earth would any reasonable person buy a version of minecraft on PC that is very similar to the original, when they have the original on PC?

posted a message on Worst Game You Ever Played
I haven't played too many terrible games, but I've played a lot of frustrating ones. But in terms of the worst, the selection of worst/most-frustrating games I have played is very vague. So I'll list some of the worst, but not the worst.

    1) Super Mario Galaxy. Yes I totally said it, everyone's absolute favorite 3d Mario platformer, and I despise it! Want to know why?

Well, just to put this out there, I love the soundtrack! It is easily one of the best Mario soundtrack's I've ever heard, if not THE best! Now to the things I dislike. I DESPISE this game's difficulty! I mean when you go through the first few sections of the observatory (terrace, fountain) the game is pretty straightforward. But once you get to some of the later galaxy's in the game near the end, the difficulty gets FRUSTRATINGLY hard! Many rage-quits were had, even my most recent play session ended with a rage-quit, and I only played through several missions or so.

There's also the childish atmosphere, it's acceptable most of the time, but when I hear browser Jr's laugh, or see the ending, or confront THAT FREAKING TURRET MOLE (see: difficulty), it's cheesy to the point where it gets annoying, and potentially frustrating.

There's also prankster comets, I cannot stand some of these, especially ones like daredevil (1hp) or cosmic, Especially cosmic (see: childish) comets!

    2) Pokemon diamond/pearl. As someone who still is a fan of Pokemon to this day, this game is an abomi(snow)nation. My first game was crystal, which I still love to this very day. Eventually I got ruby and sapphire, then the original red version (my least favorite version at the time), then Fire-Red.
As you can imagine, I was excited for when the next Pokemon game was gonna come out. So when they announced Pokemon diamond and pearl, I couldn't wait for release, and picked up a copy as soon as it was released.

Little did I know that this was one of the worst decisions I would have ever made in my gaming life.

When I jumped in, I was blown away by the new features it utilized with the DS. But that huge grin on my face quickly turned to a frown as I played on. The soundtrack was mediocre at best, was really lackluster compared to previous titles, and this is coming from a guy who's biggest enjoyment in video games is probably the soundtrack! A lot of the Pokemon didn't look as good as in previous games, or were just bad designs. Fortunately, there were still some good Pokemon designs (piplup, luxury, etc.), unfortunately it was ruined by the cheap/cheesy looking animations/sound effects for them (Why the heck does Skunktank sound like it has explosive diarrhea?) Literally every single Pokemon in the game felt awkward using. EVERY. SINGLE. POKEMON.
But oh no, the problems don't end there! The game is also insanely difficult, insane in the literal sense. I had temporarily gone insane several times in the form of violet outbursts due to frustration with the game (not kidding). Because of all these problems combined, especially the difficulty.

IMO, if you combine Ride to Hell, Sonic 06, and Big Rigs, then it still wouldn't be as bad as this game! This game is the reason I decided to never buy a single main-series Pokemon game ever again, although I might get Omega ruby/Alpha Sapphire!

Actually now that I've written this post, I realize Pokemon Diamond/Pearl IS the worst game I have ever played.

posted a message on Should Mojang start work on Minecraft 2?
For all the reasons the OP stated, Mojang could simply make a complete overhaul of the game's engine and convert it to a different programming language that is easier to optimize. But that would literally take years, and probably isn't even worth it. I mean, something like the plugin API takes nowhere near as much work, but they've been working on it for over two years now, with no sign of nearing completion. Heck, they've been working on 1.8 for almost a year now.

I hate to break it to you, but this will most certainly never happen... Unless Mojang spontaneously decides to hire around ten or so people just to work on it, but why on earth would they ever do that?

50% cleared to bedrock was around 1.5 million blocks. 3rd Quarter I've started is maybe 40% done ~330k-400k

I would be finished by now but I got hooked on Path of Exile. Regardless keep up the hard work, anyone can do this crap in creative but survival takes dedication...

You should build the dome city from logans run with that, once you are finished digging!

posted a message on What are Enderman??
I've always thought of them as one of two things.

    1) Inter-dimensional enigmatic Aliens with the ability to jump between their world and yours. Their home-world, may or may not have been destroyed somehow, becoming what we now know as the end. I actually kind of got this idea from a cool server I played on once, where it's a humans versus aliens type thing, with endermen posing as the aliens who blew earth apart.

    2) Our far-flung descendants. In the very VERY far future, a catastrophic cosmic event of some sort causes the over-world to get completely annihilated. This event (possibly the universe reaching the end of it's lifespan?) causes the overworld to become a yellowish-barren wasteland and get blown apart. Only a small chunk of it survives with the help of the then-hyper-advanced human population, who, in a last-ditch attempt to save the human species, preserves that small chunk by sending it to a small artificial pocket dimension that they created. Everyone then moves to that pocket dimension to live on the barren rock.

After all that they make it their top priority to ensure that civilization itself comes prepared for this, and they attempt to make so by traveling back in time via what we call "end portals". They travel back to the time Steve lives in, and, for the most part, remain passive observers. They hope they can change the timeline for the better, to allow the continued prosperity of human civilization through this catastrophic event.

Somewhere along the way their bodies evolve/mutate into what we call "endermen" to adapt to living in the dimension we call "the end".

So the next time you go to the end, keep in mind that you may just be traveling 20 billion or so years into the future! But hey, that's just a theory, a game theory!

Port Follius? Follius is based off the word "Folium", which is Latin for "leaf". Or at least according to Google translate... Seems like a pretty fitting name for a town.

posted a message on Best Way To Find Diamonds???
Go to Y = 12 (eye level) and start digging. Branch mining with a tunnel every 3 or 5 blocks is really useful for finding diamonds at this level. If you don't know what branch mining is, then search "Minecraft branch mining" on you-tube or the wiki.

You can also use mine carts if you decide to make a staircase mine. So if you are mining for extended periods of time, you can take the diamonds (or any other ores) you've mined at any time, and send them up to the surface in a mine cart just in case you die! Then you can maybe choose to put a furnace and a hopper in front of the entrance of your mine on the surface, to create an automated smelter for your mine carts to unload the goodies into!

    Have fun! :)

posted a message on What kind of server are people looking for these days?
Here's my advice: Create the kind of server you would enjoy playing on! If you like vanilla survival, then by all means, create a vanilla survival server! If you like intense pvp action, then by all means, create a pvp server!

People don't seem to understand that you don't create a server to get as many people to play on it as possible. You create a server because of the passion and enjoyment of managing your own server, to create your own little world, where you make the rules.

I may not have ever owned or managed a server in my time playing minecraft, but for petes sake! Multiplayer minecraft is not a business, it's a game!

    Quote from TheMisero

This is going to become a thread spammed with replies like "OMG FULL RELEASES WERE THE WORST!!!1!!!!11!!!"

Beta 1.8 and release 1.0 were the worst things to happen to Minecraft. b1.8 is self explanatory, 1.0 added potions and enchants, which still remain the most unbalanced (possibly game-breaking) features in the game to date.

Sorry, it just had to be said.

7 months isn't terrible. Aside from that, there's a ton of bugfixes, additions, and performance improvements.

Good to know. Also, they're adding guardians and sea temples, so that makes the long wait worth it now! I sure hope they squashed some of the major bugs!

    Quote from oCrapaCreeper

Oh come on people, they're not rushing an update for once. Be happy the final release will have more content and maybe less bugs than a typical rushed update.

Sure it isn't rushed, but it's been almost a year! And the change-log's bug-fixes are probably going to be useless minor bug fixes that most people don't care about.

In beta, an update would take no longer than a month.

This update is taking an entire year, about as long as minecraft's entire beta stage took. For what? A new silverfish re-skin, 3 new new stone variants, a slime-block, and possibly pointless minor bug fixes that don't make much of a difference? Sure, that's some neat content, but for 10 months of waiting (and counting), thats pretty lame.

This update better have some major bug fixes, and I mean MAJOR! They better have fixed at least few long-standing major bugs, because if they don't, then this was practically an entire year of waiting for nothing.

This update may not be rushed, but it's horribly slow.
