What are things in vanilla MC that genuinely creep you out?
I will admit, the zombies scare me a little. Not so much just by themselves, but when they come up to buildings and start crashing and banging on doors. Mostly because it's so ridiculously loud. Yikes!
Also, the annoying ambient cave sounds that you can't turn off. Yes game, I know I'm in a cave, you may stop reminding me now
Is the Wither the master of undead and the Nether (even though it can be built anywhere), and the archnemesis of the Ender Dragon, the master of skies and the Endermen?
Are they intended to be opposites (in a way, ruling opposite dimensions), and thus bitter enemies?
Hm well there are many possible ideas I guess. Seaweed would be cool, make the ocean landscape seem more lifelike. Maybe coral reefs? Now that would be pretty sweet. And of course, fish mobs would be incredibly cool. Sharks have been mentioned a lot, and would be really neat - but if those were added, I hope they wouldn't be hostile; maybe neutral mobs that only attack if you attack them or bother them too much, in other words, how real life sharks normally behave.
Seriously, does anyone else really really hope that the underwater/ocean biome will continue to be expanded upon in the future?
It always kind of made me sad that with all of the other biomes being so gorgeous and detailed, the ocean biome felt kind of neglected. I really love to build things underwater, but looking out a window and seeing nothing but an empty field devoid of any life besides those poor lonesome squid was a bit depressing.
That is why I am insanely happy about 1.8's addition of ocean monuments. Prismarine and sea lanterns are unbelievably beautiful, exploring the monuments is a fresh and fun challenge, and the guardians are really interesting and cool enemies.
If more underwater landscape features and mobs were added in the future, I think that would be amazing.
I know there have been plenty of topics like this, but I'll not bump a really old thread.
So, what are your favourite biomes and why?
For both scenery and gameplay, my absolute favourites are both the plains and the flower forest biomes. I find both often spawn relatively close together, which provides a massive amount of resources and an absolutely gorgeous location for building. It's a nice challenge to try to build something without compromising the natural beauty of the area.
I think the snowy biomes, and especially the ice spikes are very serenely beautiful, though the lack of above-ground resources makes them impractical for survival mode unless you're really looking for a challenge.
I also adore the mushroom island biome, just because it's so unique and cool. All the big mushrooms make it look like an epic fantasy land, and the mooshrooms are my favourite friendly mob in the whole game. Though unfortunately it's quite rare, and true to its name, it usually spawns on an isolated island, usually quite far from other biomes, which kind of sucks and also makes it impractical for survival mode (and because no other farmable mobs besides mooshrooms spawn there, and the only plants available are mushrooms, which can't be eaten raw, and no other plants can grow on the mycelium, etc etc), again unless one is looking for a challenge.
I don't like to build in jungles or deserts, but they are super fun to explore. Plus the jungle/desert temples are rock awesome.
I'm indifferent to most of the other biomes. The only ones I actually don't like are the mountainous ones, simply because they're so difficult to explore, impractical for building anything, and in my opinion, not very visually appealing.
Seriously, as of the 1.8 update, can emerald ore even be found in the game at all?
I have been playing this game for a LONG time and have never seen any, not even once. Heck in my current game, I've found and gathered quite a lot of diamond - but no emerald. None whatsoever.
Also, I notice in the options for making a customized world, emerald ore is the only ore that does not appear on the list for adjusting ore spawns, which I find odd.
Has anyone ever found any? If so, please tell me how on Earth you accomplished this, because I'm stumped.
Hooray, finally a mod that doesn't require Forge.... honestly, I have tried time and again and have never been able to get Forge to work for me, because I also use mods like Optifine and MCpatcher. It always causes my game to either not start period, or to CTD on startup... sigh.
The new version for 1.8 is working perfectly for me. However, one of this mod's niches has always been that it allows you to obtain and use blocks that are normally unobtainable, such as water and lava blocks. In this update though I immediately noticed that these are all missing. What's going on? Is this a bug? Or were they removed?
I'm extremely disappointed because I use water a LOT to decorate and landscape, but this cannot be done very well without the pure water block.
What kind of mobs are you hoping will be added to the game in the near future?
What I'm hoping for the most is more water mobs. Underwater is a really sweet dimension of the game that should be expanded on in the future, starting with more mobs that live underwater.
I enjoy building underwater quite a lot, and I kind of dislike the fact that all of the waters in my game are devoid of any living things, besides squids... it would be so sweet to look out the window and see some fish, or sharks, or dolphins, or whales. Or maybe even sea serpents.
Though I quite like squids. All of the water would be dead without them there; though it's a shame they're all alone. And for some reason, in my game they always spawn inside lakes that are far too small for them to swim around, so therefore I always have to go around making the lakes bigger so they don't suffocate...

But failing that it would be cool if the villages got expanded on more. I love villages. Trading is fun.
