Well the problem im facing in the game is i feel very limited on where i can travel to, i genuinely build near my spawn point so i dont have to walk for an hour every time i die. And what i mean by minimap is a HUD mini map, of course you would have fog on it for places you have yet to explore. And it would only show bird eye view of the world basically. Similar to world of warcraft or any other mmo you plays minimap. And to keep to the minecraft theme, yeah make it so you have to make a map then it appears in your HUD or something cuz if you die and loose your map... whats the point of having one ahhahaa.
Plus i hate making giant arrrows in the sky etc, just seems silly to me.
I think it would be wonderfull if their was a minimap in the corner, or you could press M and see a map. I get lost very easily haha.
Also if you could put markers on the map to remember where things are.

At the same time, a map is a lot more efficient, so how about this?:
We already have paper, why not making a map as part of crafting. You create a map using a 3x3 block of paper. Then you put it in your inventory and start cartographing (that was probably not a word, but anyway...) by activating it with a right click. Once it's activated, it puts your position as it's start point, and wherever you go from there, it fills out in the map.
Obviously, the map has a limited size, so you need multiple maps to chart out a larger region. Once the map is filled out (or maybe even before then) you can use some key (like 'E') to open the map and look at it. It DOESN'T have your current location, but I suppose it would make sense that you would be able to pin stuff on it.
Any thoughts on this slightly modified idea?

gold being north, iron being south.
2. it shows the direction you are facing. i played this game called carnivores and it was super hard to hunt because it didnt show which way you were facing so i had to move around a whole bunch to figure it out...

oh i was waaaaaaaaaay underground in my mine last night and i could hear zombies above me, thought it was just a glitch lol. Maybe it was a cave or something.
Hey guys, played clasic for the first time last night after seeing a random video on youtube. I useto love lego & creating **** as a kid so i found it addicting and bought alpha.
I found out the hard way that their are zombies in alpha lol, i made a mine at the beach then later decided to go scout out somewhere to build a fort, found a nice cave half way up a cliff and dug it out with a ladder leading to it & a door to be safe at night.
Im having trouble with a few things however, i cant seem to find any minerals other then cobble stone & dirt/sand. I come across some coal hear and their but thats about it. Was wondering if their was any nack to finding certain minerals? & what the best way to dig a mine would be.
Also was wondering how i could make some zombie traps? =D
