Usually the frendliest servers are small ones. I go to a small server where if you connected for the first time, there would always be at least one admin that broadcasts "Welcome, (insert name here)!"
About 9 or 10 minutes in.
This thread does not matter anymore, the answers to all the questions here have been answered in the first few pages.
1. People have their own right to say what it is, as long as it isn't repeatedly spammed.
2. To people who keep on comparing real gold to butter, we are referring to MINECRAFT gold, not actual gold.
3. You can never stop people from saying butter. You can't fix that. If people say butter only occasionally, might as just deal with it, like everyone else who isn't complaining about it.
My keyboard died on me, and I drowned. Lost lots of loot like 26 iron. Darn!
I know that feel, I was trying to make obsidian and I slipped and fell into the lava. I had to start all over because I didn't even have enough power to claim land and set a spawnpoint
A random guy wanted to join my small faction. Note that it was my first faction and I was still learning. I didn't suspect a thing, so invited him to join. Turns out he just temperarily left his own faction, which happened to be the strongest faction in the server, to help his faction raid my tiny base. Earlier before this we had found an empty base of an independent player that didn't own a faction whose chests were loaded with much treasure. He proceeded to take my faction' s treasures and left the faction, leaving me in confusion. Then he comes back with his friends, all stacked with enchanted armor and weapons. I ended up weak and homeless, seeking refuge. I was kinda depressed that I was stupid enough to invite someone I didn't know. Then I became better when I realized it was a common mistake faction leaders sometimes do
And yet they're still funny (sometimes). It doesn't matter if it's overused, it might be funny depending on delivery and content of the joke. I still don't see how "butter" being an overused joke makes "I found some butter," annoying. It's just a small nickname. Is saying "I think they should enforce laws aginst pot," more annoying then using the real word, marijuanna? No. It's a nickname.
What does that have to do with butter? People don't fight "down here"? That doesn't contribute to the argument.
The quote was based off a line from the TV show The Legend of Korra. What the quote means is that I go to several servers where some people it butter (sky fanboys, as they are the people who use the term the most), while there are people who hate calling it butter and call it by it's actual name, (who the sky fanboys refer to as "squids"). We simply just don't give a damn what people call it, as long as it is understandable, and in the term "butter's" case, isn't taken seriously.
A lot of the people who use the joke call it "budder" instead. Budder actually IS a drug. A form of cannabis
I have a friend who is aware of this and still calls it "budder". It just shows that facts like that doesn't really matter to most who call it that, in fact, it gives people who have a twisted sense of humor another reason to call it butter.
Glowstone is softer than gold though. Why don't they call glowstone butter?
Again, that's a pitiful excuse for not calling gold butter. It's little children we're dealing with here, who don't use logic very much. Might as well just deal with the fact people say it.
Don't most of people who call it butter call it that way because it has things in common? I mean, butter is extremely soft and gold is the weakest and softest of all the minerals. Of course gold isn't as soft as butter, but things shouldn't be taken literally, especially if the joke is popularized by young children.
It looks like we're all hating on people for having a choice. It's like hating on little kids at Halloween for dressing like Spiderman, because it is "unoriginal" and "overused". The main point of Minecraft (and Halloween) is to look however you want, even if someone else finds it unoriginal or overused.
