posted a message on Player in my Private Server!

If you do not configure whitelists and your server is reachable on the internet, you're going to have people scanning for open Minecraft Servers. It's just a very good idea to configure whitelists and allow only trusted players on private servers.

posted a message on Help!! mob trap in spawnchunks

You have to do that unless... you can build with the AFK area at least 128 blocks above the surface.

Mobs farther than 128 blocks immediately despawn [https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Spawn#Despawning].

Current Minecraft mountains already have snow,

but there doesn't seem to be a lot of plateaus with lakes on them,

certainly not biome sized lakes that are connected to a river with a gigantic waterfall off a cliff.

I think things are going to change, according to the new experimental snapshots.

posted a message on Finding Seed for my Server/World

In a remote server, you must be operator to use the /seed command.

Use the /seed command in the server console (if you started with -nogui, you still have a console open somewhere, check the cmd window if the server is local).

After this, you can use the /op command to a player you trust (yourself?) to be able to use commands from a regular minecraft game.

posted a message on Random huge FPS drops in modded minecraft 1.12.2

Yes it seems the RAM goes up to 100% and garbage collection kicks in. Do what TileEntity says and increase Minecraft memory (option -Xmx in java), if your PC has at least 8GB of ram, you can go up to -Xmx4G as suggested.

Also you have incompatible optifine & forge combination, the optifine you're using is “compatible with Forge #2847” and you're using Forge 2855.

As you have the latest optifine possibile for 1.12.2, try to remove it and see what happens.

In the upcoming 1.18 there will be more water sources in mountains, so it's proabably going to happen.

See recent experimental snapshots 5 and 6.

considering minecraft changed so spam clicking isn't effective whats the point? also iirc its not good for the hand/wrist muscles/tendons too

This. People playing pvp on 1.8 or less should simply stop doing that. It may seem funny at first, then you'll realize that many use macros, so it's not fun anymore.

    They won't.

People citing mods don't realize that mod users are a very minor percentage of minecraft, even minor if you add up minecraft bedrock edition, which Mojang and Microsoft tend to converge with the parity project.

posted a message on Nether Highway questions

I prefer top of the bedrock layer, there's still a couple of methods to break the bedrock roof.

Iceways seems the best speed, since even if you do a soul soil highway and have max soul speed, your boots have to be repaired from time to time.

To fall down I feel a slime block is enough, but since you're going to go up as well, you can do a vertical piston bolt or a vertical serie of minecarts (this last can also be used downwards if needs be).

posted a message on Whats the use of spawn chunks

Spawn chunks are overrated. You can now build a vanilla chunk loader with dispensers and a nether portal. It's safer because you can turn it on or off, while the spawn chunks are on whenever you want it or not.

This said, an ender pearl teleporter is nice to have, expecially if you don't use beds everytime, because you can tie the piston that moves the pearl to a daylight sensor and with some circuitry let it activate only if you sleep (with or without a delay to let you break the bed)

posted a message on Using hoppers to create snow/ice
    Quote from deathfromab0v3»

I saw a video of a youtube streamer having an ice farm, he had blocks frozen but above them in the sky he had hoppers catching snow. He didn't break these blocks just opened a chest with a hopper connected further away that contained lots of ice. Any idea how this was done.

In vannilla you have to collect the ice with silk touch.

So probably it mentioned it or they're trolling.
