I'm having problems installing. When I go to open the .jar file (1.14.4), nothing happens. A window seems to appear for a split-second and then disappears. Then nothing. Ideas?
really its texture is awesome, my congratulations! are you planning to publish the new version when?
Thank you!! And yea, I’ll release what I’ve got so far. I’m on vacation right now, so it’ll be another two weeks or so till I am able to post it. It won’t be updated for the newest version of Minecraft, but it’ll have all the textures I’ve made so far.
In other news, I’ve been visiting some Art Deco spots in London and Los Angeles, so (eventuality) expect some new textures!
Love the look of the new blocks, can't wait for the latest version, quick question though. What block did you use for the ceiling in the first photo of the gallery, you know the one with the really awesome and intricate art deco design?
Sorry for the late reply, I’m glad you like the pack! I believe that ceiling is the bottom of magenta wool blocks. Though maybe blue wool.
The floor on the right is actually the floor in my bathroom. The black marble has a random CTM and came from the entry way of JW Sexton High School in Lansing, MI. I visited it in March 2016:
I haven't mentioned recently enough that I love this pack. I'm now rectifying that mistake.
I love this pack!
I don't play Minecraft anymore, and yet I stay subscribed to this thread just because I love seeing your textures. That's not something that I can say for a lot of packs. I love Art Deco, and I love how you're bringing it into Minecraft. I also especially love that you're putting the original inspiration for your textures in each of your posts. It gives me an entirely new appreciation for just how amazing this pack is!
OK, I've said my peace. Please resume your regularly scheduled being awesome.
Thank you so, so much! It really does mean a lot to know folks out there appreciate this stuff. It is a labor of love for me, even though I only seem to work on it once a year or so, heh. My last burst of activity, in April 2017 was when I was on paternity leave. Now I recently lost my job (I'll be ok) so I'm putting a little more work on my pack. I traveled for work at my last job so when I had some time to kill between conference stuff I would check out the local art deco sights and snap some pics. Not all of them yielded good, usable stuff for the pack, but there are some gems in there. I'm still going through them. And I'm always on the hunt for some good pictures online that have an open license. I just found a nice trove of pics I'm currently combing through. I'm not super proficient, so each texture takes quite a bit of time. But I'm learning some tricks and getting better.
Anyhow, getting positive feedback definitely keeps me going. I'm glad you and Glimmar remember me and my incredibly incomplete little pack.
Howdy folks! I've spent the last 6 years sporadically working on an underwater city I call Aquain. I also have been working on a custom resource pack to go along with it. The city has been built online on a survival server, and while I like the community there the server I'm on is unfortunately dead. To their credit they've never wiped it or closed the server, but they've stopped updating it and I'm generally the only person online when I play.
So I'm looking for a new, more popular (50+ people online at once) server that would allow me to move my city to. I know this is a big ask, most servers wouldn't want to plop in a big project like this, but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask.
Here is what I'm looking for in a survival server:
1. I'd like some kind of teleporting or /home system. My city is really big and walking from one end to the other would use up all my time, heh.
2. Ideally some kind of market to buy & sell blocks. This isn't a deal breaker, but it would be really nice to have.
3. A way to protect my city from griefers & mobs. I'd hate to log in one day and discover that half of my city is destroyed.
4. A server/map that is updated to 1.13 and will continue to be updated.
5. A map that won't be wiped. I'm slow but dedicated to my city. I don't want it to be erased a year or two from now (or 6).
Other than that I'm pretty flexible. I'm a pretty serious, mature player, I don't care about games or events or anything else. I just want a nice place to build where I can maybe get some help or show off my build to others. If you want to welcome a new player and a new build to your server, please let me know, thank you!
At the moment I'm experimenting with lots of interesting emission effects (an Optifine function that some of you will remember from my newly introduced glowing mushrooms) on zombies, zombie villagers, etc.
Also the realization that I can now have multiple extra paintings in the pack that can all be displayed in game simultaneously (not just by slowly animating one painting through a list of paintings as before) and these extra paintings can exist along with animated paintings. Therefore it's now possible for me to have many stationary and/or animated wheels, machinery, control panels, etc. along with a much greater choice of paintings, posters, decorative panels, etc.
This one Art Deco design has taken me me a couple of days to get to the stage where I'm happy with it in what it produces when placing the block in various orientations! Yeah...I'm slow! I get it!
Four more on the back-burner and 11 more to start from scratch.
I'm looking for designs that are architecturally pleasing as well as providing some useful decorative functionality for floors and walls both interior and exterior. I'm also into 'Art Deco' at the moment, as you can see from the above screenshot. I know, Art Deco is not strictly Steampunk, but I also love the Bioshock world view and that has very successfully merged the art and the genre.
Hope you like.
Oooh, getting into art deco? Welcome to the club. Fantastic work as always.
And here are some columns using polished andesite & diorite:

Holy crap, this looks amazing. I'm super impressed (and jealous)!
That tiered end table is incredible.
Any chance your textures/models would be open license for other (*ahemthisoneahem*) packs?

And a hastily thrown together facade with some of my new textures:

Crap, I swore I was finished for the day, but then this texture caught my eye and I had to add it on gold blocks:
This one came from the Parkview Square building in Singapore. Gaudy and amazing art deco.

Ok, another new one! With a full CTM too (mostly). A brown rug:
For this one I was able to use a rug in my parent's house:

Glad you like them! Here are some more, hot off the presses! The sides of light gray concrete.

Extra paintings?!?! Best news I've heard all day.
