Why not just call it corrundum?

    Quote from Wikipedia »

Corundum is a crystalline form of aluminium oxide (Al2O3) with traces of iron, titanium and chromium.[1] It is a rock-forming mineral. It is one of the naturally clear transparent materials, but can have different colors when impurities are present. Transparent specimens are used as gems, called ruby if red and padparadscha if pink-orange. All other colors are called sapphire, e.g., "green sapphire" for a green specimen.

Or call them 'Green Sapphire', 'Blue Sapphire', and 'Ruby' (or 'Red Sapphire' for consistency)?

    Also:
    Quote from Wikipedia »

Corundum occurs as a mineral in mica schist, gneiss, and some marbles in Metamorphic terranes. It also occurs in low silica igneous syenite and nepheline syenite intrusives.

Maybe have it only spawn in marble too? Would make it more rare, could up its availability to compensate, could also color the 'background' of the gem blocks to be marble to match, something different in any case.

I can read just fine, you obviously can't. It was stated in the past that there wasn't going to be automatic crafting systems.

She said there will not be any Automatic Crafting Table, but there will be an automated crafting system.

I'm having some really funky experiences with a Diamond Drawplate. In NEI I have 4 recipes listed for it, all of which list 1331:4 as the damage value of it. However only one of three types of Copper Ingots actually work at that damage level, the one from Forestry. The others don't list output. Even more strange using the IC2 version of copper it displays and output, but when you click on it it disappears and you get your copper back. On my friends client this actually crashes his client. Drawplates are basically non-functional for me.

Fresh Drawplate + RP Copper Ingot = no valid recipe.
Fresh Drawplate + Forestry Copper Ingot = Fine Copper Wire
Fresh Drawplate + IC2 Copper = no valid recipe.

Damaged Drawplate + RP Copper Ingot = no valid recipe.
Damaged Drawplate + Forestry Copper Ingot = Fine Copper Wire
Damaged Drawplate + IC2 Copper = no valid recipe.

Damage Value :2 Drawplate (as seen in NEI's recipes) + RP Copper Ingot = Fine Copper Wire
Damage Value :4 Drawplate (as seen in NEI's recipes) + IC2 Copper = valid recipe, but no output you get the copper back.

Fine Iron wire is created just fine (no pun intended) regardless of damage value of the drawplate.

To confuse matters more it duplicates the drawplate when using the Crafting Table III, but it's visual only. Clicking on one of the fakes makes them all disappear.

Anyone have any idea how to make a fresh and damage drawplates work with any copper as it's supposed to? Or do I have to NEI in everything from now on? :)

This is using Forge 105 and RP b2 and Forestry 1.4.6.1 in SMP.

Hmm, and you are certain that all IDs are perfect? Does it work in single player? Really need to know if it works in single player.

I know she already said the battpacks will never charge anything else but I'd still like it if they could charge the screwdriver too, I'm just too used to that from IC2 xD
    But whatever.

Induction charging requires special hardware, which would be useful here. ;)

But the idea of some de- and re-materializing thingy sounds great, well-fitted into a tech-mod like RP .... even if we have to wait a few more tiers .... +1 :Diamond:

A big balance problem with digital storage, digital signals can be copied, so by making a digital storage or digital transporter you could then infinitely copy something. Transportation should work more like sending the quantum state at near light speed to a remote location.

    Quote from MrByte

Sure, but the vanilla one achieves essentially what I was wanting to do, but far faster. Getting items from point A to B (i.e. clearing out my inventory and accessing the contents elsewhere at a different location at a later time).

I may still move ahead on my system for the simple fact that I still think it'll be fun to solve all of the engineering hurdles involved. Things like the design of the routing machine (pretty much solved), design of the drop-off points (still a work in progress), and the programming of the computers in assembly (not yet started, I may just look into writing a 65EL02 target for LLVM, so I could use Clang to compile C for the 65EL02).

Vanilla one is going to be next to useless on a server. Someone is going to set one up with 6 Filters on it each with a staggered 0.4 ticks to instantly suck up anything in it, then it will be all but useless for anyone else.

Are you suggesting the creation of a unique block for each tool so that they can be charged in their own cradles?

While I don't love how unintuitive the current system is for those unfamiliar with the IC2-similar action, it does "make sense" as the closest analog to the actual action in the real world. I suppose this shows how the limited description of items that the vanilla environment uses creates problems when more complex interaction surface.

Like I have 4 different power tools that share one interchangeable power 'brick', no need. The battery is a uniform type of storage (low power storage?), makes sense for one type of charging station.

Wouldn't this feature be redundant? We can just change the batteries on most any (modern) power tool.
Unless, of course, tech 3. The sonic isn't strictly speaking a modern power tool. Will it recieve an futuristic upgrade once the tech tree is expanded?

BTW, that's really cool to illuminate your work on wireless power. Really quite fascinating.

Even a modern wireless power tools (at least mine) have charging bases, can fit two in at once, I just pick it up and use it when I need it, or change the battery if I need to as it can charge lone batteries too.

Why can't we just charge Sonic Screwdriver in the batbox?

Do you take your wireless game controller and plug it straight into a battery charger? No, it would not fit. Rather you swap it out with new charged batteries or you plug it into a dedicated charging chamber (hmm, which would be useful in RP2...). ;)

    Here is a 100% - reproducible savefile & configs

http://www.filehosti...07/buggywoo.tgz is the download link for the save,
if anyone cares enough to give them an e-mail address
(note: their "validity check" needs a dot in it, yopmail/10minutemail is fine).

Just load and then observe the deployer's content in front of you

At first it does some weird stuff as nearby chunks get generated, then it starts extending, everything is ok.
Then it retracts, broken frames are evaporated.

ps: any suggestion for better filehosting?
pps: My chicken farms and a wheat farm and an incomplete woolinator are also included.

Hmm, I have not tried that save file, but it sounds suspiciously similar to a block breaker oddity that I have been experiencing and seems to happen randomly for time periods then works fine again, makes it hard to replicate...

Eloraam, care to comment on if we will ever see color changing lamps? (Yes, I know the actual light is always white, but hat technicality aside) It would be cool to somehow drive multicolored displays, although I'm not quite sure how the wiring would work.

How I would do it is for it to plug insulated wires into it and which ever one is on it will light up that color

I am curious, what is it about BTW that is fun, and what parts are not fun to you (or anything else)? If this is too off-topic feel free to PM me, I am honestly curious about a complete review.

Just a request. I'm trying not to be ranty here, and i really, really love Redpower, but I am pretty frustrated ATM so forgive me if I don't entirely succeed.

I guess my annoyance is coming from playing SSP for a while with Logistics pipes and then getting back into SMP with only RP2 sorting to run with. All I wanted tonight was a simple way to move ores from a chest to a macerator, dusts to the furnaces, bars to chests. This ended up being a disaster of pipes, wire, cables, and machines, mainly because space was fairly limited due to the room being high up in a tower - and I fully admit to not being anything close to a Minecraft wizard, but it really should not have taken hours to complete this.

Now, I was in love with RP2 sorting for a good while (till I got used to Logistics pipes, again.) When it started out, it seemed like it was going to be an elegant, fast-build alternative to the old Buildcraft messes that were the only option up to that point. However, as more and more has been added, I feel the system has gotten a bit bloated and unintuitive.

My main complaint is the sorting machines, retreivers, and etc requiring Blutricity to run. I understand that the Blutric system needed validating a bit a first, but sorting systems get complicated enough without this, especially in tight areas. Why are we to forced to cram a Blutric wire in there too? I mean, there are only so many faces open by a furnace as is in an automated system what with in/out tubes, transposers and such, IC2 cables if using those machines, redwire to trigger the transposers/retreivers/whatever - though at least I can cheat that with WRCBE - the machines themselves, hopefully an open face so as to not look like ****, and so on. And with PR5, the Frame motors and pumps provide enough reason for Blutricity to exist without sorting machines forcing an arbitrary complication into what should be simple builds.

I'm not asking for RP2 to copy Logistics (though I would certainly love that ;) ) but do we really have to make running a sorting system harder than it needs to be?

Anyways, thanks for all your work, Eloraam - RP2 will always be my number 1 just cuz of the logic gates and such. I just hope that there are some ease-of-life improvements coming someday for the sorting systems.

You *way* over-complicated it. If you do not want to use blutricity or retrievers(why are you using these?) or sorters or so, use filters. A long central bus of a pipe (potentially branching, matters not), with filters off the sides on all to route to areas. Been doing that for many versions, works very well.

Basically, the EntityID needs to be below 128, I.E, <=127 and >=1 (maybe 0), unsure if the ID even matters since Forge might auto-sync it anyway, but it *must* be within that range. Perhaps add that to all relevant sections of the tutorial?

Awesome tutorial by the way, very well done.

EDIT: Any chance of getting the DimensionHandler API usage for client/server on adding a new Dimension?
