Ladies and Gentlemen, i give you ... Multi Mine.
Skip to 1:15 for the actual mod
TL;DW version
It's so you don't have to point nonstop on a Block, never letting go of the mouse button, to finish it off. You can pause, walk away, mine another Block ... whatever you want.
As of 1.3.2 this mod is completely networked. It works for multiple people on a server, you can take turns beating Blocks, and other peoples half-finished cracks will show for you.
Block Damage is limited to 30 Blocks at a time across the server. It is not saved, it does not interfere with your savegames. Damaged Blocks regenerate "slowly" after an initial short duration. [configurable]

OT: I actually like this quite a bit. I desperately need more dirt and sand though.

Seriously though, that's how I bought Minecraft. Easy stuff.

Here's some inspiration. Go crazy.

I have an idea.
Maybe...
Hold on, brace for it.
Maybe they just...
You ready?
Maybe they can't move player-placed blocks, like people have been saying. Notch isn't some malicious ******* out to ruin our experience, he knows that people like to build up giant structures in a kind of, "I'm bigger than this whole world, **** you," kind of fashion, and he won't take that away. He's a smart guy and, believe it or not, wants to keep this tremendous community together. So everyone chill out and wait for the update. If the Endermen tear your **** apart, by all means, rage like a mother****er, I'll be right there with you. But in all likelihood, that won't be necessary.

I intend to immediately edit their texture so that the eyes are white when non-hostile. However, when they attack me...eyes go black. I can't wait to be jogging around my mine when I suddenly see a pair of white dots, which promptly vanish, leaving only darkness to escape from.
I'm ruining my own sleep, I tell you.

Well then, it's natural.
Wait, what if this kind of thing formed above ground? A tremendous halo looming over the map...I'd cry tears of joy.
