A few friends and I are maintaining a minecraft server for a networking class for college. We are in control of building the server and maintaining the server 24/7 using remote desktop and other tools. The other day I put a post on the forums to try and get more people on the server to help stress test it. I responded to 5 People and gave them the IP address. Last night 2 of those people logged on, I'm not sure if both were involved, but someone attempted to grief the server. So we promptly banned both IP's. I really don't understand the mindset involved here, this was a limited invite, not a huge server, so they had to have known that we would remember each name and react accordingly. So why would someone do something like this? What actual pleasure is gained out of acts like these? They did nothing that wasn't able to be fixed in a matter minutes.
