posted a message on How would I go along with creating a large-scale custom RPG-inspired map?

So, I've created a custom narrative and lore for a world that encompasses mods for Minecraft, including (but not limited to) the Twilight Forest, the Betweenlands, Nether Ex, Botania, Thaumcraft, Wizardry, Ice and Fire, Minecraft Comes Alive, Lost Cities, and Roguelike Dungeons. I'd like to create a representation of such a world in Minecraft itself, featuring a narrative that players can discover and get immersed into, and feel compelled to learn more about the world and follow its questline, rather than feel like they're on a thin-veiled cardboard box of a "story" they can break out of at any time.

However, there is a problem: this world requires a custom-made geography, featuring hand-picked biomes in hand-picked positions, where multiple such biomes are from mods (namely, Thaumcraft and Biomes O' Plenty) and thus likely wouldn't be readable by most map editors. Worse, this map would require several large-scale constructions (ruined cities, villages, landscapes...), and key placement of specific mobs (usually the larger and more powerful ones, as well as human[oid] NPCs), as well as loot in chests and such. And then you throw in the fact that there are three other dimensions to deal with, each with their own structures. (And, in the Nether's case, biome arrangement...)

It doesn't help that village residents would also have to talk with the player, and give quests and guidance, and I can't help but wonder whether that can be accomplished with an existing mod, or would require me to create an entirely new mod of my own. (I hope not, because I'm beyond terrible with Java.)

I wanted to ask if there's any software or mod(s) that could help me create this game world, to design the shape of the landscape and assign biomes to each region - whether modded or vanilla - as well as to design structures and spawn mobs, dungeons and structures (especially Thaumcraft crystals) - again, whether modded or vanilla. I know there is World Painter, but I don't think it lets me assign biomes at all, let alone modded ones. I also don't know about how it handles structures. Please note that this would be a pretty large world, so it can't be a tool that cherry-picks blocks.

Same; I didn't want my account getting nuked, so I kinda half-returned. And yes, I agree on the maturity bit.

Sadly, those are no longer there.
We have you, but you rarely post.
In the year 2019 will be 10 years of MCF, but I guess that there will be hardly anyone who has contributed anything in OT.
I hope that in these years there is someone, who as you say, has half a decade.

Forums are just less interesting these days than they used to be half a decade ago. Everything's on-demand, like Discord, which overshadows time-based conversation methods like forums. (That said, I think forums are almost always 100x more polite than Discord servers, as they're easier to moderate.) I, a fellow 2011er, hardly post here as well, though I do come here kind of often, prowling for threads to chat in. It's just that almost none ever seem to appeal to me or capture my interest these days, which reflects on a low post rate.

Ah, I do admit I kinda miss the times from 2014, where the Minecraft Forums were pretty much my only method of socialization. And also because those truly were simpler times; my life has been really hard on me since 2016. God, my life nowadays just sucks.

I recently came back to my MCF account, and it was like stepping on an ancient tomb covered in dust and vines. It's been so long since I last used this account. I frankly changed a lot over the years, especially on the gap between 2016 and 2018 (I haven't used this account on 2017 at all). I'm downright embarrassed of many things I found buried within my past activity.

I hope nobody judges me for my past self's immaturity... especially since I was very young for most of the time I've had this account, considering I only turned 18 this year.

posted a message on Mekanism v9.4.0 - Industrial Turbines, Thermoelectric Boilers, Fusion Reactors!
    Quote from Robijnvogel»

Not sure if that's the issue, but that's not the latest version of Forge you're using.

I updated Forge, and the game still refuses to load worlds, giving me the same error. It's a problem within Mekanism itself, since as I said before it only does this while Mekanism is installed. The game mentions a lot about rendering errors and missing pointers and recipes, which indicates the mod was coded improperly.

Of course, I'm not a specialist in Java, so anyone more proficient in the language is more than welcome to correct me in case I'm wrong(as well as point out a solution to this problem).

posted a message on Mekanism v9.4.0 - Industrial Turbines, Thermoelectric Boilers, Fusion Reactors!

Playing with the 1.7.10 version, installing Mekanism causes Minecraft to refuse to open worlds at all. Removing Mekanism allows it to open up worlds again. I only have the core module installed, and the game does not generate an error log, so I'll just post the game output, starting from the moment it tries to load up Mekanism.

posted a message on MachineMuse's Modular Powersuits - Finally updated again!
    Quote from EzerArch»

Was GC supposed to charge MPS armor? I didn't know.

I found out, by accident, I could use Mekanism charge pads. That was a nice surprise.

I remember doing so in a very old version. It was slow, but it worked.

    Quote from lehjr»

I just tried it in Galacticraft's Advanced Solar Generator and it does work, but it is very slow, so I'm not sure what was happening in the original issue. When I was playing in 1.7.10 in the past, I liked to use a reactor from either BigReactors or from Mekanism (fusion reactor).

It didn't work at all for me; the item refuses to attach itself to the "charge up" slot. I just would like a simple, lightweight mod that lets me recharge the PowerSuits and power up the forcefields from Modular Force Fields, but both only accept items from those huge industrial mods that add tons upon tons of things I'll never use and will just bog down my game.

For the Power Suits, I could get away with the Kinectic and Solar power modules, but in my save I want to set up a base in a custom dimension with no sunlight, so the solar power would be rendered useless and I don't think the kinectic energy would be enough to suffice.

EDIT: For some reason, this mod is now demanding me to install Smart Moving, crashing until I do so. I really don't want to install Smart Moving(After I went through a massive hunt just to look for a mod that lets me power the goddamn power armor itself, sadly Mekanism crashes on launch so I went with the very heavy Thermal Expansion) since it adds a lot of complicated stuff that just doesn't interest me. Is this even intended? It only started doing this today.

posted a message on MachineMuse's Modular Powersuits - Finally updated again!

I seem to be unable to use Galacticraft's blocks and features to charge up this mod's Power Suits. I use the latest version of both(1.7.10) and Numina version 0.4.0.131.

    Banned for partying hard.

    It doesn't count because
he only appears at the very endy end of the game
At least it didn't until you SAID WHO IT IS

    OT:

Banned because I'm angry due to the reasons mentioned above.

    Touché.
