Nice job! How long did it take?
The statue took about a week. The islands took around two months of piecemeal construction. The pictures don't capture the level of interior detail in each building.
Oct 11, 2012It's been a while since I've been to the Minecraft Forums, but I thought I'd share this here. This is a statue of the goddess Auriel, worshipped by the testificates of my island empire. No reference photos, 3D modeling software, or any external programs were used in its making. Just creative mode and a whole lot of eye-balling.Posted in: Screenshots
She carries an eagle-tipped staff and a book as symbols of power. Half slabs were used to prevent mobs from spawning on top of her. She's somewhere around 120 meters tall. She resides on Isla Rosa, just to the East of the more populous Isla Tropica.
In contrast to the statue, Isla Tropica was developed almost entirely in survival mode. The island is made up of several residential, commercial, and industrial districts. Each district has a distinct style and culture.
If you want to see the islands firsthand, you can visit the multiplayer server at lithoscraft.com Creating an account on the website will automatically whitelist you on the server.
Jun 12, 2012OmegaLambda posted a message on What would you do if someone broke into your house?I always find it amusing how highly people rate their own home defense skills in these threads. My first move would be to go for an "apparently dangerous weapon" (as per RCW chapter 9.41.010 IIRC). Second, I'd try to positively ID the individual in my house and be sure they are, in fact, an intruder. If they see me I'd confront them, if not I'd call the cops at that point. If I'm outgunned in the confrontation I'd submit, but stay alert for an opportunity to gain the upper hand and subdue them. But I wouldn't attempt any heroics unless I felt my life were in danger. In any case, I'd do everything possible in order to achieve an end where (in order of priority):Posted in: General Off Topic
1: I am alive.
2: I am unharmed.
3: I retain my possessions.
4: The perpetrator is apprehended.
May 30, 2012Usually too much or not enough water will cause leaves to turn yellow. And I don't know of any bug that would cause leaves to shrivel like that. Bugs usually leave holes and residue. Do you fertilize your tomatoes? They might not be getting enough nutrients. Dr. Earth products are better than Miracle-Gro or similar. It's like the difference between organic food and energy drinks. If they're getting plenty of light and nutrients, then it's probably a disease.Posted in: General Off Topic

Im not in it for the money. im just trying to ruin someones life.
What in a kindergartener's life could you possibly ruin by getting them high? Sell it to pilots and surgeons instead. Sell cigarettes to kindergarteners. That would be much more effective at ruining their lives.

The awesome Israeli Tank, the Merkava Mk-4. It is superior to the M1A2, and considered one of the best tanks in the world.
With that chode barrel? It's severely lacking in the manhood department.

It also has a low power/weight ratio and is very slow. And the thickness of the armor doesn't matter, it is the kind of armor that does. And the front is heavily sloped, so the amount of armor a round has to penetrate is much more that the actual thickness of the plate.
I forgot about tanks. This would be my ride:
The leopard 2 A6 is probably the best tank in the world. The best tank cannon around, very high power/weight ratio, it is fast, has a very long range and good fuel efficiency, and its armor will stop just about any tank round from the front and side.
That's nice, but does it have A JET ENGINE? No? The Abrams does.

Speaking realistically, I'd enjoy a Lotus Elise. I'd want it in black with gold rims because I think it's a damn good looking car like that. It's a pity that there's a habit of selling them in awful, vomit-inducing colors.
I like small and efficient cars, so I wish there was an Elise engineered for fuel economy. It's got a super-light chassis, so it'd be doable.
If memory serves, there were two Lotus Elise race cars that were supposed to get something crazy like 60 mpg a few years back. I wonder if I can find something on that or if I'm just making stuff up.... The best I could find at a glance was that their 2011 production model gets 46.7 mpg highway.

In general vehicle category I'd have to go with this baby.
Fun fact: There are 6 men in the world with enough money to build and maintain a Nimitz class aircraft carrier and one with enough money for two. (Carrier cost according to the US Navy and list of the world's billionaires according to Forbes.) That said, it would be the most awesome yacht in the world. You could host some monster parties on that boat.
I don't think I could handle that much vehicle. I'd go for something more like this:
May 24, 2012I once had an internet friendship that turned into an internet relationship, which consequently turned into dust. Online friends are fine for online activities, but RL friends are more versatile and those friendships are generally more fulfilling.Posted in: General Off Topic

Of course I would turn it into the police, and I doubt most of the people here claiming they wouldn't are being totally honest.
I doubt most of the people here claiming they would turn it into the police are being totally honest. I mean sure, finding weed in a soda can is super sketch, but there are comprehensive ways to test things for poison. On the other hand, I guess peoples' responses speak to the demographic of the MC Forums. Those of us more experienced in the real world wouldn't be so quick to throw away something handed to us.
