So should I download the regular Minecraft on computer to play this or download this mod without getting the regular Minecraft? I play the regular Minecraft on iPad
You will need to download the computer version to play the mod, as I do not think there is currently a way to add mods to the iPad version. What you do after getting the computer version depends on which version of the mod you want to play. The first version had WAY more things in it, but the second version uses a newer version of Minecraft.
Well, I can't be certain without a crash report, but I think I know the problem. Because your world spawned in some of the LOTR items and (I'm assuming) you had some of them, Java is now having a temper tantrum because it can no longer find the data for the LOTR items. Java has an annoying way of reading code. If you add items, everything is fine and dandy. But if you remove items and Java can't find it, then it simply shuts down.
My advice: Get your world's seed and write it down somewhere. Then make sure your character has NONE of the LOTR items in your inventory, and that you DO have the majority of your vanilla valuables. Cut your player.dat file out of your minecraft directory, then delete the world. Make a new world using the seed you wrote down. Close the game, then delete the NEW player.dat and paste in the one from your modded world.
I will keep this short and to the point. I have a modpack that I assembled for myself and a few friends on the Technic Launcher. Normally there are absolutely no problems, but once every week or so the modpack gets weird and crashes on the Mojang splash screen, but to my knowledge this only happens on my computer and not my friends' computers. Can anyone tell me by the crash report what I can do to stop this from happening over and over?

TConstruct Environment: Sane and ready for action. Bugs may be reported.
I know it's not likely anything will be done about it, since it's the 1.6 version, but I recently started playing in 1.6 again and of course had to use this because it's so wonderful. I have one small problem, I can't get it to switch between settings. I load the world and it says '3 settings detected' or whatever the message is but it's stuck on the first setting, I've tried right clicking and I've tried left clicking (which is what works in 1.7). I've ended up just taking all the things I want and putting them in the first setting and that works fine, but the compass gets very crowded with so many lines showing at once making it difficult to use sometimes. As I said I completely understand if you have no plan to fix it, since it is an older version, I just figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Maybe it's something I'm not doing right? Any help is appreciated.
Hey Plurp, I think I figured it out! I believe you can only switch needles if a trace of something for that set is nearby!
In 1.7.2 and later you will have a LiteLoader tab show up in the top right corner of the main menu. For older versions just search for anything with LiteLoader in the log (Developement console in the launcher).
The problem is that I'm using the Technic Launcher so I can't see the Dev Console...
Yes. While that setting is false, the overlay is rendered over the vanilla compass. If it is true, only the craftable Finder Compass item has the finding needles.
Thank you so much! You were both really helpful! Keep up the good work AtomicStryker!
So sorry if I'm repeating a question, but how do I enable crafting of the item? By default my game turns it off, and I'm not sure where in the config I would turn it on. Help, anyone? (I'm using the 1.6.4 version)

Thanks! Will do!

Well, that helps a little bit, but do you know why it would only be doing that at random times instead of consistently?

My advice: Get your world's seed and write it down somewhere. Then make sure your character has NONE of the LOTR items in your inventory, and that you DO have the majority of your vanilla valuables. Cut your player.dat file out of your minecraft directory, then delete the world. Make a new world using the seed you wrote down. Close the game, then delete the NEW player.dat and paste in the one from your modded world.
-OR-
Just keep playing with the LOTR mod.

Well, I figured as much. Not to be rude, but I did say that in my first post. Would it perhaps be changing the false value in this config?

Thanks again, you're a big help!

Thanks so much! Is the pack.json in the typical place? Also, how do you mark it as read only?
