posted a message on Minecraft, Already being pirated
    Quote from KikiAngel »
I think it is horrible that people pirate this game. The people who play it, and put it on the pirating sites obviously must know enough about it to see that in order for it to expand and improve, Notch relies on the profit made from selling copies and donations - he doesn't even ask a ridiculous amount for it! If you like Minecraft, show respect and buy it!

Pirating this game is just plain wrong, as it isn't made by a wealthy and huge company, but by an independent newly started one.

Some people just have no morality.

    Judge more why don't you?

Pirating the game has nearly no adverse effect on Notch. He doesn't lose a sale, he doesn't get physically harmed in any way, and if anything, it helps him because of advertisement. Many people would never buy the game without a chance to pirate it first, so one could also say that pirating is actually directly bringing him sales, in combination with the advertising.

I haven't pirated it but I'm not going to condemn those who do, or act as if I am better than everyone else. Mainly because I don't listen to, and don't view the morals people lay out for me as absolute, and automatically condemn everyone who disagrees with me without thought or consideration.

No adminium outside bedrock, please. I like the keep idea, maybe even creating entire castles if you're lucky/unlucky.

With the rollback, is chunk 0,0 once again the best chunk to place these things on?

Also does anyone know a recently updated program to use to find chunk 0,0? (If possible, with MCEdit?)

Torb what he means is if he changes the title, then all of those people's votes will have gone towards a different title, and the pole wouldn't be trustworthy.

I still don't see the irony, or what all the hoopla is about magic.. It's really not a big enough deal to.. make such a big deal out of it.

    So... like the force?

Look around some people's avatars on this forum, then look at some game designers out there and some people who suggest stuff on other games.
Some have a really unnatural affiliation with evil, cults, and demons.
Those are the people I'm afraid of.

Your getting a little silly now. This is a forum about a lighthearted mining game, where farm animals roam the earth, and you can punch through cubic meters of log.

This is kind of ironic, really, seeing as you're supporting adding necromancy into the game. And I'm not trying to insult you specifically, I'm just saying I really don't support that kind of thing.

    I'm sorry wait,
#1 Where does he support necromancy?
#2 What exactly is wrong with necromancy? (considering it doesnt exist in the first place)
#3 How the hell is that ironic?

How is someone sick for joining a cult? Cult =/= bad automatically. Yes those who sit there and sacrifice people for the sake of appeasing a god (or really doing anything that ultimately hurts someone in the name of a god) could be considered bad people, but only in the same way that people persecute gays because they think that homosexuality is a sin. Misinformed maybe, bad, not automatically.

I don't see an issue with spawning things. It really doesn't fit minecraft, but if someone found a way to make spawning, summoning, etc fit the theme and balanced, then I don't see what could possibly be the issue.

My god there is nothing wrong with magic. Maybe you shouldn't be so uppity about everything. I don't think it should go into the game fully for gameplay reasons, but there's nothing wrong with a touch of magic. Implementing magic into the game does not harm you in any way, and if it would make a lot of people happy, there's nothing wrong with that.

posted a message on Skills and Levels
I really really don't want Minecraft to become a grindfest.

If I join a server, I want to be on even grounds with every other person in the server, except for hard earned tools. (Which still don't take long)

I don't want to have to cut down 100 trees to get slightly faster woodcutting.

I don't want to have to hunt 100 skeles before I can hunt spiders.

I really don't want to enter a multiplayer server and have someone who spends their whole life in the game be able to literally run circles around me while killing me.

Besides, even is this was implemented, how could it be implemented? If it's server to server, then every time I try a new server, I'll have to start over. If it's universal, then it will be fairly simple for anyone to set up a hacked server and get tonnes of XP no problem. One great thing about Minecraft is that everyone is always on equal terms all of the time. The only thing that makes you successful in this game is your own wits and/or skill, not how much time/patience you've got to mine 10000 stone blocks to finally be able to use diamond tools! Instead the biggest obstacle for diamond tools is not how long you've been playing, but how much effort and exploration you've done into the bowels of the earth.

Oh and before you say you're XP level is a matter of effort aswell (Mining 10k blocks isn't easy), the difference is one is not fun grinding, and you have no choice to do it if you want to do anything at a decent pace, and the other is entertaining spelunking, or if it suits you, strip mining. Adding a skillset will influence players to do pointless boring things to get more experience, and will force people to do it. Not having skilsets allows players to decide when they want to go searching for diamond, or if they want to clear out a mountain or even dig through rock for two hours if they want.

Shouldn't all the dummy buttons be wired to the reset?

Yeah I noticed that aswell. Running down the line hitting all the buttons from left to right (appears) to open the door.

I'm currently working on a schematic for a programmable combination lock using 9 buttons, but its a ***** to make.
