Overpowered. Say you use up a diamond sword to almost being broken, then you pull it apart and put it back together. Instant repair.
And even if you could not put in anything that is damaged, you could just use whatever item you want for as long as you need it, then just pop it apart and use the materials in something else.
Just seems like it would make it so you don't have to go out and collect as many materials;
I would assume it would take durability in mind and give you materials accordingly, if it would accept tools at all.
A nearly broken diamond sword, say about 10 uses, it would probably only give you a stick or so.
Really? Really?
Your saying a sandbox game( Which is a game you do whatever you damn well please in ) is turning into an RPG by adding a few new survival elements. Like everyone else here, just don't use it. You don't need enchantments, you don't need potions or the nether. You can avoid strongholds and the end. But everything that has been added, save hunger, is optional. Its still a sandbox.
I'm assuming by negative feedback, you mean people flaming because your opinion isn't theirs. I honestly like the jungle biomes if they don't have massive hills in them. The grass remind me of what the swamps looked like before they got the overlay and once you clear out a swath of the trees. (The 1 block ones are rather annoying, though ) and find a stronghold, you can make a nice mossy, cracked, and regular stone brick temple type home. (Or cobble, mossy cobble if you like that). So even though they can be annoying and they do slow down many computers, its hardly enough to flat-out say people shouldn't like them because you don't. Its an opinion, just like those people posting the best seed threads.
To all the people complaining about books needing a binding. Take a second to look around your house. Likely all of your books have paper covers including the hardbacks. It's true, I have a few moleskein journals and my yearbooks appear to have some sort of petroleum-based product covering them but everything else is paper. And don't tell me 'minecraft is set in the past' because it's not. It's set no where an no time. It's a setting 'free agent'.
Even though minecraft has no set in stone era to it, its commonly noticed as medieval with its own quirks. This is noticed in the regular texture pack and the fact that minecraft has no modern technology. Redstone and most nether materials would be a quirk, considering Glowstone is light giving stone and redstone flows not with electricity, but an electrical-esque magic. The original piston mod had them made of metal and were futuristic looking. When Mojang implemented them, they reskinned them to give a more primitive feel, being made of stone and wood, not metal. So I can safely say that MC is regarded in a medieval fashion, with fantasy quirks.
well it took me about two days but i finally found cows and lured them to my house... its more of the fact that its a pain in the ass. And i still think its a dumb change even now that i have my cow supply and what not
Because putting paper together with no binding makes sense. I think they should include string in the recipie for bindings too.
This belongs in the suggestions forum, but this has been suggest 100's of times since they were introduced.
The current tool system we have now is fine. No need to tweak it.
Also, like Obsidian and Lapis, its an ore that that serves a use and decorative purpose without being a material for tools and the like.
I love you cadika. I'm not here terribly often, but you seem to be some fresh air among all this nonsense raging.
As for my opinions on the update, I lag considerably less now(Using a low-end graphics card on a 6 year old PC) and makes minecraft worth playing. I don't mind the updates, even though i'm not fond of villages. But hey, I can walk around them and leave them be, so all is well.
Probably because its all classified under Protection. Protection is general ,the others are specialized forms of protection, still taking the protection slot. So, in short terms.
I think this, along with an idea I saw floating around before would make an interesting combo. Giving them longer ranges to shoot from (Sniper Skellies) and then, in case of a cave or other such tight areas, have them use a randomized "panic" fire rate at close quarters with their usual strafing. Even if it was only on hard, it'd make the skellies much more dynamic.
This is just a glitch. Not new in 1.3, I had been bothered by it since 1.2.5, and probably before that also. It seems like that they can walk trough fences sometimes.
Indeed. It's something to do with the hitbox of fences and they glitch through them. Also, animals don't like being cooped up in small places. They'll move and stay at any door like structure if the area isn't wide open.
So mac=bad automatically? I get 120 FPS on my MacBook
I personally don't use a Mac, so I couldn't say. But what I was getting was a generalization.
Most single-cores and macs( I'm assuming its with how Apple makes them) Saw a decrease in performance with the update due to all the extra strain from having to run a server and the game at the same time.
Maybe you have a newer one with the power to handle the strain. Thats a good thing.
The old challenge used to be:
1. Never stay in one place for more then a day
2. Never return to a place you once visited
3. Shelter must be built for night ( No 2x1 holes, sorry!)
I feel that is what make a nomad challenge a nomad challenge. Unless you could quickly and easily find diamonds, you usually didn't get any. Also makes your worlds massive. ( Good for survival seed exploration! )

I like dismantling the new structures and reusing the blocks in my creations. Its a good source of all the pretty sandstone I love.
