It's not about what we WANT, its about what is REAL. I prefer to live in the real world, believing in what can be proven. I believe this life is all I have and I do not want to use it pleasing someone who I believe is not there. It is better to live in the real world than in a lie (I learned that from star trek BTW, people get addicted to the holodeck or false realities).
you keep wishing for your eternal paradise, we non-belivers will work on extending our own life in THIS world (cryogenics, nano-bots, or that thing where we are able to place human consciousness inside a machine/robot/clone of myself at 25 ).

Just to play Devil's Advocate here(an ironic term to say the least), how can you prove that there isn't an afterlife?

There isn't a way to prove that there isn't, but there isn't anything that indicates that there is. Saying you should believe in Christianity just in case is like saying you should believe in fairies just in genies just in case one comes to grant you a wish. If we were to believe things just because there is nothing that proves them wrong, we'd believe all kinds of ridiculous things.

    I just wanna say something.

For those of you that believe life just ENDS after you die, and there is no more? Tell me the truth, you "want" that???

Or would you rather knowing that there is someone who actually has a plan for your life, and after you die, you will live in eternal paradise.

    So.
Option 1 - Die, and live for nothing
Option 2 - Die with a purpose, and live an everlasting life, in paradise. From which you will never get bored of.

Just throwing that out there. If you are an Atheist, why would you not want to believe in God? If it means only good things for you in return.

It's not about what we WANT, its about what is REAL. I prefer to live in the real world, believing in what can be proven. This is exactly right. Sure, it'd be nice if we went to heaven when we died, but a million other things would be nice as well. You don't believe something just because you want it.

Mostly posting here cause I want to follow the thread, don't really have anything important to say.

I'm atheist or agnostic, I'm not really sure. I'm pretty sure the Christian/muslim/jewish god is wrong, a man made thing, but I cannot be sure that there is nothing supernatural out there.

May have already been said, but as a wise man once said "Religion is just a fancy way of saying you're afraid of death". What wise man said that? No damn clue...but I like the quote.

Not in mine. Death is seen as something good that you strive to earn from the world. To forcibly take it (Suicide) or to have it forced upon you (Murder) are seen as bad deaths. Hell, suicide is seen as a unworthy and disgraceful death.

It's not what the religion tells you. what it means, or how I see it, people were afraid of death, so some people told them that death was good, reassuring them, and taking advantage of situation to control people.

This is a great server, mods are broken ATM, so borders are broken but still great, and will be better once borders are on. I am part of the main alliance on the server and we are looking for competition. So if you like to pvp or a survival challenge join this server.

I realize that religion has some good to it. It has it's bad effects, and many of them, but it also has many good effects on the world. I can't say the world would be better off with religion. It's possible, but religion has shaped the world as it is today.

But whether religion is good or bad has nothing to do. Even if say, christianity, had nothing but good effects on the world, and nothing negatif at all, I still wouldn't believe, since I still haven't seen a single thing in my life that gives me good reason to think that Christianity(or any religion) is right.
