This new forum format is interesting, I think I like this. Seems pretty slick.

Anyway, Thanks everyone for more great comments. :D

The announcement of my twitter is new, the twitter account itself, not so much. You must have been one of the few that found me before I even mentioned anywhere that I had an account. ;)

Hi, want to seriously thank you for your hard work, you guys are amazing.

Using this mod in all of our modpacks!

With the experience we gained using this mod to this day we might have a suggestion, could it be possible to set the owner of a block by simply placing it and reverse the effect of the locket to unlock eventually the blocks that you want to?

    Thanks. :)
The locking issue could be done, and I had thought about doing that in the past as a better way of keeping track of the owner of a block. I would have to make it a config option that is disabled by default since the lock and key isn't enabled by default. Although, I'm not really sure I want to put too much into the locking thing at this point since I will be revamping the system after Minecraft 1.8.x comes out since there will be a vanilla NBT tag to handle locking in vanilla. I would like to adapt to that when that happens.

I absolutely love your mod! It's so fantastic to be able to store stuff on shelves in the world. The only thing that really bothers me is having a hard time getting maps to line up properly for map frames. It would be really nice if there were a way to make aligning maps easier.

Palin_Thisnar pretty much described what you can do as of now using pure vanilla mechanics. There are a couple mods out there that were made to assist with the process as well. I can't remember the names off hand or I would point you in that direction.

Also, eventually, I do have plans to add an Atlas item that will help with this and potentially auto-create maps as you explore. I also want it to be able to copy/paste waypoint info from and to map frames. Basically I want to expand on the whole maps thing while at the same time trying to keep compatibility with vanilla maps. I have some other ideas for it too and with all I want to do with this idea, it may take a couple weeks to a month just to code that one item, so don't expect this too soon, but it is something quite high on my list of things I want to work on.

You should add a page where you can post downloadable books for the printing press or add ebook compatibility. I was thinking about typing the text from a novel into a in-game book. But, I knew that would take well over 3 hours.

There is a place on my "Addons" page for books. If you hover of the Addons link you'll get a dropdown with "Books" as an option. I probably should do something to expose this a little better. With the big book and recipe books, book sharing could get pretty interesting I think. I would like to put some thought into more convenient ways to share and organize shared books and stuff. I think that could be an interesting area of the mod to expand on.

If you do type up some books and want to share it, post a link here and I'll be sure to add it to that section.

I love this mod, I really hope you keep updating it for 1.7.2 dispite the new MC update
You have my support on Patreon :) Keep up th awesome work

    Thanks for your support! :D

I hadn't really planning to continue updating for 1.7.2 since most mods should be compatible with 1.7.10. There was only 1 type of error (repeated in 22 spots) I ran into upon updating from 1.7.2 to 1.7.10 so I would expect other mods to update quite quickly. Thats not to say though that there wasn't some other bigger changes that affected other mods that could slow them down. But hopefully the other devs will move to 1.7.10 soon. Your world should update from 1.7.2 to 1.7.10 with no problems as well.

If there was enough demand for 1.7.2 after a future release, I might could be convinced to release a 1.7.2 build, (since its only 22 errors vs over 2000 for the 1.6.4 to 1.7.2 update, which is the main reason I don't plan to update any more for 1.6.4), but I would much prefer to keep moving forward.

    Hi,

I'm using Minecraft 1.7.2 with Forge 10.12.2.1147 and a Bibliocraft 1.7.1 as a single installed mod. When I change I:EnchantmentCostMultiplyer in BiblioCraft.cfg value to anything higher than 15 - minecraft crashes at startup with following crashlog:

    http://paste.ee/p/nc0gE

     java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Duplicate enchantment id!
    at net.minecraft.enchantment.Enchantment.(Enchantment.java:52)
    at jds.bibliocraft.EnchantmentReading.(EnchantmentReading.java:14)

    Thanks.

It looks like it is crashing on the enchantment id. Which is pretty strange considering the EnchantmentCostMultiplyer is unrelated (heh, just realized I misspelled that in the config, opps). I was able to reproduce this though, so this is definitely an issue. I'll investigate further and see what I can figure out.

It looks like you perhaps had a block called a key and code lock block that was in the same block space as a BiblioCraft wooden label. When that block was removed, the TileEntity for the block was not removed and then a label was placed in the same place and since there is already a tile entity there, the label is unable to create its own and tries to read the one from the other block that was left before and since it doesn't recognize it, the game crashes.

You may need to use a tool such as MCEdit to go in and remove that block from the world. I could add an extra safety check to prevent the crash, but this is still an issue, possibly with the other mod. You could test this by placing another one of these key and code lock blocks and breaking it, then placing a vanilla chest in the same space and try to open it. If the game crashes, you may want to report this bug to whomever makes the key and code lock block.

time for screen shots! im using this one to fill my hazmat suit for indutrialcraft 2

    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/17mo5u3zoqxq1hu/AAALa0zbts0K_TBXf7rOr1H5a

its set to craft or move a hazmat suit from the ae system if you break like the helmet it recrafts it and puts it into the stand also i have a armor remover shift click the stand and it removes all your armor and sends it to the ae system (remember to have a redstone signal so that you can shift click all the armor on or off) i build this hazmat refiller because the suit is so very weak
ps the stand has to be filled from the bottom the bus has to be connected to one of the bottom sides to fill with

That is awesome! Nice work. Thanks for sharing. :D

The reason you have to use the bottom block and it won't work with the top is because the TileEntity that stores the actual armor is located on the bottom block. ;)

Am I right to believe that your mod is library themed?

Indeed.Fancy library stuff and wooden things has kind of been my general theme. I like wood things. ;) Through a few things I think I've added might be just outside that general theme, they still are kind of close enough to my theme that I think it works. (Thinking along the lines of the cookie jar and dinner plate).

It's still crashing on 1.7.10, but I have made an interesting discovery: only the spot on the top shelf furthest from the right (or left, depending on how you're facing the shelf) is affected. I can't reproduce the crash in any other spot.

Ahh, I see now. Thanks. I was able to reproduce this. I'll get it fixed and get out a small update in the near future.

The update of BiblioCraft for Minecraft v1.7.10 is officially released. I seen a shiny new Forge version just went up as well as I was putting together my post. I went ahead and downloaded it and tested before making this post and it seems to work fine. That looks like the first release for the official Minecraft 1.7.10 release.

I also annouced my Patreon page and Twitter pages officially, so find the new release and check out my annoucements on my website, www.bibliocraftmod.com. Enjoy! :)

Heres my changelog snippet to explain what exactly has changed:

    v1.7.3
    *Officially updated for Minecraft 1.7.10
*Fixed signs not shifting forward with the screw gun after the 1.7.1 update (opps)
*Added default support for Blood magic flasks, agents, and daggers on potion shelves and weapon racks.
*Added default support for Gregtech tools and swords on weapon racks and sword pedestals.

    Just an FYI....

I can't seem to reproduce this. If you want to try to get a screenshot, you can use the "print screen" button on your keyboard, then open an image editing program, start a new file, and paste and you should have a screenshot. That should work with about any image editing program such as Photoshop, Paint.net, GIMP, or even standard windows paint (not sure what the equivalent is on mac/linux, but should be same process regardless of platform).

I do have the 1.7.10 version coming really soon, so perhaps you'll have to test with that version and see if you experience the same issue and get back with me.

    Quote from anicet74

    isn't that tinker's construct?

Well, I guess the mechanics are about the same, but I was thinking of another mod. I can't remember the name of it, I don't think it ever updated past Minecraft 1.2.5, which was the last time I used it.

    Quote from Cloud_Forever

No, I was using a vanilla potion. I've had it happen with water bottles too.

It almost always crashes when I right-click the topmost part of the item in question, when I'm standing level with the potion shelf and looking down. You need to be holding an item while you do this.

Well, I tried some more and I still can't seem to reproduce this. I am testing on 1.7.10 though, so perhaps something changed that fixed the problem. I guess you'll have to let me know if you can still reproduce the crash on your end after the update.

    Thanks everyone!

It is almost time for the move to Minecraft 1.7.10. The official release should come later today from what I understand and Forge shouldn't be far behind. There is already a beta release of forge for Minecraft 1.7.10.pre4 which I have used to go ahead and work on getting BiblioCraft up to date.

I've also been addressing some compatability issues that were mentioned such as default support for Blood Magic stuff and GregTech stuff and fixed a couple minor issues. I am planning for a release later today (likely 12-16 hours from the time of typing this). So keep an eye on www.bibliocraftmod.com for updates later.

    Quote from ReTeYeZ

I tried this but most of the keyword are already in the config e.g wrench, saw, sword and so on. I think the mainproblem is that Greg dont uses the normal vanilla tool-mechanics. I asked him for compability with your mod but he said that he needs an API to do this.
Dont get me wrong. If this is to much work for only one mod compability I would totally understand if you dont want to do this but I really would like to show of my Greg-Tech swords(there're alot of them) on the Swordpedestals.

I got this working in my next build so support will be by default. The keywords I had to use to get them to work on weapon racks are "metagenerated_tool" and "gt.metatool". Those seem to cover everything. I have them hard coded them into the check for the next release. As for sword pedestals, I didn't add a way to add 3rd party swords that don't work so I did a special case for the gregtech stuff. I had to do some special case stuff anyway. They seem to have their own custom renderer and don't do fast rendering and they are also offset ever so slightly, so I just did a special case and tweaked them so they look good.

It looks like you had a Stereo from Mr Cray Fish furniture mod in that block space, and when you broke the stereo the Stereo didn't remove it's own tile entity, so when you placed the lantern, it was unable to create its own tile entity since one already exists there. Mr cray fish needs to fix his stereo so it deletes the tile entity properly. You should be able to replicate the crash by placing a Stereo, breaking it, then placing a vanilla chest there as well. As far as your world, you may need to use something like MCEdit to open your world and delete that block.

You have an older version of BiblioCraft that isn't compatible with that version of Minecraft/Forge. Update you BiblioCraft to v1.7.1 and you should be good.

Are the addon mods from 1.6.4 included in the 1.7.1 update of Bibliocraft?

I'm looking specifically at BiblioWoods (for BiomesOPlenty, Forestry and Natura) and I would like to have these included in my up coming modpack.

Currently, no, I haven't gotten the BiblioWoods updated yet. I definitely plan to get them updated. After the 1.7.10 update is complete I do plan to try to spend some time getting BiblioWoods up to date. There is some trees ive noticed that have been added and some removed, so I have a few changes to work through as well after I finish getting the bugs worked out.

    @Nuchaz,

Awesome mod man. This is by far and away my absolute favorite furniture mod of them all and I have used it in every single modpack I have ever played.

The high quality design and aesthetics are the best, bar none! So, before I even get started let me just say, Thank you. Really, your mod has taken modded minecraft to a whole other level for me. :)

Now that I've given due thanks, I would like to make a small request. I have searched far and wide for the item I am about to ask for, but have not been fortunate enough to find anything like what I am about to request.

I would like to ask if you could include a, *drum roll please*, wait for it, wait for it, STOVE!!!

BUT WAIT, I HOPE YOU DON'T THINK I AM ASKING YOU FOR A SIMPLE STOVE SKIN! BECAUSE I'M NOT!

Instead, I am putting in a request for an actual working STOVE!

One where each stove range actually lights up when it is being used. A stove we can place a pan on, which will allow us to place food into the pan much like your dishes do.

One whose GUI has a box for each burner and one for the oven as well!

While we are at it, the stove should run on redstone dust (or blocks) as if it were electric!

As if that weren't enough! The stove should only consume fuel when a cookable/smeltable item is present. In other words, once items are done cooking/smelting then it should cease to use fuel.

Lastly, the stove should appear stainless steel or possibly even be customizable like your chairs currently are!!!

    YES, YES, YES!!!!!

PHEW, that was a little exhausting.

In any case, thanks for the mod and your time.

    :D

    Thanks!

A stove might be a little away from the general theme I have going, but it is a neat idea. It makes me think of a mod I used to play that had a pan, and you could put the pan over an open fire and place 1 piece of food on top by right clicking with the food in hand that would cook and it was done all without a GUI. I always enjoyed that mechanic. I'll have to put some thought into the idea, try to figure out if there is a place in my mod for a stove like block. ;)

    Web site is down.

Should be back up now. When it says "Error establishing a connection to database" it is usually a sign my server ran out of memory and closed the database from running. Likely soon I will look at upgrading my server with more ram and trying another approach to solving the problem. Seems to happen anywhere from once a week to once a month. Anyway, should be good for awhile again.

Huge Thanks for all the great comments everyone, I'm going to try to get caught up here. Been quite busy lately on another project (non-minecraft related, Unreal Engine 4 based) which eventually I will announce on my website. Hopefully I can make the leap to be a full time indie developer. ;) BiblioCraft will still remain a high priority for me though no matter what though, I couldn't play minecraft without it anymore.

It seems that Forge for Minecraft 1.7.10 is growing very near. As soon as that happens I will make sure BiblioCraft is updated and runs alright on 1.7.10. I am hoping we finally hit a stable build for awhile and more mods start migrating up to the newer version.

Since this seems to be a place to make requests and I don't see a similar request in the forum anywhere, I'll just ask.

Would it be possible to include Blood Magic potions in the list of allowable potions on potion shelves? Or is it just a config thing where the ID would get added to the config in some section?

I freely admit that I didn't go looking for a config option before I thought to ask this question.

    Kzorith

I am glad someone was able to help show you how to fix that with the config, but I will also see about adding default support for these in the future. I just recently got into Blood Magic myself, thanks to Agrarian Skies, and definitely want to support it by default.

Nuchaz, if you're considering adding autocrafting-type blocks, what would be really welcome is a simple packager and unpackager. Something that would take (for example) nine iron nuggets and spit out an iron ingot, or vice versa (and likewise for items/blocks that combine 4:1 such as Industrialcraft 2 tiny dust piles). It could either be two separate machines, or one with a switch to make it either pack or unpack, but it would need to be able to have items piped in and out of it to be useful.

RedPower2 used to have a packager/unpackager set, but is long dead; Factorization has a packager but not an unpackager, and is mostly uninteresting (unless you like its new servos), except for its item router, which is being removed, and its barrels, for which Barrels Mod is a better replacement anyway ever since they were simultaneously bloated and nerfed into ridiculousness; Thermal Expansion's Cyclic Assembler can do either job, but is verging on overkill for such a minor task.

Something like that would be pretty handy. You make a good point about there not really being any real convenient options. The only other thing I can think of that you didn't mention would be Applied Energistics, but that is quite a bit more involved than even just a cyclic assembler.

I'll throw this idea in the pot, let it steep for awhile, and see what comes out. ;)

    Quote from Durand1w

That makes sense and I like the new system better since it increases the variation while staying true to the existing mechanics. As far as the wood value itself, is this stored as an actual field in NBT? I know that lanterns show the metal type, but with map frames and weapon cases, there doesn't appear to be a separate field for this information. The ID itself is simple WeaponCaseTile or MapFrameTile. If it isn't a visible value where I can edit with NBT explorer, then I'll just let the players know what to expect. I'm already doing other changes to the level.dat and .mca files to correct a few other items.

The wood itself is stored as the meta data, which in NEI for example when you have the tooltips that show ID's, you would see "blockID:metaID". Kind of like the same idea as the damage value on items, but on blocks were limited to just 16 values (0-15). I haven't used NBT Explorer (though it sounds handy for emergency world saving situations) so I can't really say how it would be listed there.

    Quote from Auric245524

I just got a neat idea: Doorbells. It'd pretty much just be a fancy button. If someone didn't want it to output a redstone signal then it could be disabled by using a screwgun/hand drill.

lol, that could be hilarious to have someone ring your doorbell. Thats a pretty good idea with the redstone too. I'll have to keep this in mind and think on it awhile. ;)

Could elevators be a thing in this mod? Like a single elevator block that takes you up (or down) to the next elevator block in a column?

I'm not sure I would want to add an elevator block. Open Blocks has a real nice elevator block, though I'm not sure if that is updated for 1.7.x yet. If hope, hopefully they will soon, I do enjoy those elevator blocks.

    Nuchaz,

Great work on this mod. Just started getting into it and ran into this problem on MC 1.6.4 Vanilla Upgrade (plus a couple other mods):

Now this world crashes with this same error everytime I try to load it. Can this be fixed in-place (removing/editing data in level.dat or similar)? Any suggestions on how best to proceed?

Something definitely happened to your bookcase blocks it looks like. There was a lot of changes to NBT going into 1.7 and I really had a hard time getting worlds to update properly. Durand1w had some good ideas on how to fix up some of the errors, but I personally haven't been able to update any of my own worlds from 1.6 to 1.7 successfully either without at the very least, losing most of the BiblioCraft blocks. It mostly has to do with the block ID's going away in 1.7 (technically, they are still there, just hidden, and determined on a per-world basis). I'm not really sure of any other kinds of workarounds other than just to start a new world.

I have to say, what a great and fun mod!

I have a problem tho with 1.7.2 version. Previously, I was playing with bibliocraft 1.6.4. We did a ton of modification on a particular map. Now, I loaded that same map on a 1.7.2 server (just as I used to do it with 1.6.4) but now, I can't see any items that was previously there before. Someone knows why?

I did installed bibliocraft and forge. I can see every bibliocraft items in the inventory, but when I try to place an item in my personnal inventory, it says << there is no such item with ID BiblioCraft:BiblioLamp>>...

See my previous response. Updating worlds from 1.6 to 1.7 minecraft is not very reliable right now and I'm not sure there is much I can do to fix it.

Here are some sconce models I made recently in Wings3D.

I could easily smooth out the models for more detailed games but for Minecraft this should be sufficient.

I've seen you add all sorts of model-based lights to the game and I want to learn how to do this myself. Wings3D can export to OBJ, that Forge has an importer for. I can tessellate the quad faces to triangles and/or set the UV's if need be. I don't yet know what transform the models need to look right in game.

Part of what I want is for the sconces to illuminate a broader area than a single light can handle. To that end I will need an invisible emitter block with no bounding box and only light. Then I could code a search test in a particular direction to place the emitter, stopping at an obstacle or a fixed distance. If the obstacle is next to the sconce then no emitter is placed in that direction. The sconce will maintain an array of the emitters it creates so it can destroy them if broken.

I want the sconce block to choose its model based on how it's placed. The wall sconces should point out from the block it's placed on. Common code belongs in a virtual base class from which the real objects inherit to make new sconces easier to manage and maintain.

Very cool. One thing worth mentioning, with the forge OBJ importer, the model must be all quads. tris won't even render in game or will cause minecraft to outright crash.

You pretty much got the right idea for larger scale illumination it looks like. I thought about doing something like that myself, but never got around to it. It seems like it could be kind of expensive too if it wasn't done just right. I worried about the invisible light sources and interaction with blocks such as pistons. If you could convince the pistons it was an air block and/or it were to get destroy upon piston motion or block placement, kind of like grass. I definitely think it could be done though, just may be a little tricky.

The position based model is pretty easy, all I basically do is get the face when the block is faced in the Block class with the "onBlockPlaced" method, which I then save an int variable determining the style type (floor, wall, or ceiling) based on the face that was clicked on when placing the block. Luckily, that method gets fired before "onBlockPlacedBy" which I use to grab the tile entity of the block that was just placed, grab the angle (based on player yaw) and save the style type and angle to nbt on the tile. Then I just pull that saved variable on my TileEntitySpecialRenderer and render the appropriate model for the style.

I'm having some trouble with the http://www.bibliocraftmod.com website. My anti-virus software (which is usually quiet as a mouse about everything) is blocking it claiming it's a high risk website carrying something called Mal/HTMLGen-A (link to info page).
I would usually asume it's just anti-virus software being alarmist, but as I've literally not encountered blocked pages before EVER I thought I'd bring it to attention.

I hope it's nothing serious and something just got triggered accidentally, but yeah, it's a possible risk. Website's been looking awesome lately by the way, great job ;)

Thats a false alarm. That is an issue I have been having with Sophos for quite some time. I've tried submitting a thing to them to prove I was safe, but no luck. I've read that sometimes google analytics can fire off that warning from sophos. I don't know how true that is, but if that is the case, I can't really do much about it other than let you know, its just a false alarm. I think there was an update for google analyics, I'll update my code sometime and maybe that could fix it. At least it would be nice if it would be that easy.

The two grim-faced truncated cubes are upgraded furnaces. The one on the left is a double oven that cooks two stacks of items at a time. The one on the right is an infernal oven that cooks four. The "crown" on the infernal furnace is a chimney that accelerates the ovens.

If you want the OBJ's to build into Bibliocraft then give me a destination to send them. Either way I want to learn how to incorporate models like this into the game as blocks.

Nice work. I definitely think you should put together your own mod with this stuff. It is incredibly satisfying to be able to move from creating a model to getting it into the minecraft game world where you can interact with it. :)

We love your mod and all the features it adds.
Would be such a heartbreak to remove it :(

Thank you for your work, and your help on this case i hope :)

Definitely something bad has happened there. It looks like the world is trying to render an item of either the cookie jar, the dinner plate, the measure pole from the tape measure, or a disc rack. It could be something wierd with a cookie jar. You could going into the BiblioCraft config and disabling rendering of BiblioCraft stuff. If it is a rendering issue, than it shouldn't crash and you should be able to hopefully find and remove the offending block. Otherwise you may have to use something like MCEdit to find and remove the block to save the world.

Something terrible happened to one of the writing desks it looks like. It is difficult to tell what exactly, but you may need to remove the offending desk. I can't really tell, but if it is a rendering issue, you can disable rendering in the BiblioCraft config file. If the server is running fine and it only happens with the client, then it is likely a rendering issue. After you disable rendering, you should be able to go into your world and remove the offending desk (and get your books back safely) then after than, go back to the config and re-enable rendering. If that doesn't work, you may have to use something like MCEdit.

Ok, yeah, the first was a debug message I forgot about, which I went ahead an removed and I also got a fix in place for the second thing. So should both be fixed in the next update. I'm not sure if I'll get out a small bugfix update before 1.7.10 or if I will just get out a good 1.7.10 release with the fixes. It depends how far off 1.7.10 is I guess.

Have there been any problems with the configuration files? I loaded the mod a first time and wasn't able to use it until the configuration was deleted.

I know a couple of times my update checker derped and put a bunch of garbage in the config which broke the config. I'm pretty sure I fixed that issue though, but I suppose that is a possibility. Other than a couple isolated instances that I know of, there hasn't really been any config file issues.

I absolutely adore this mod! It is a must have when you have thaumcraft plus it makes everything so neat and stylish at the same time! Its on my cannot live without list that's for sure. Keep up the super work!

I do have one suggestion though, I know most of your items have a semi interactive practical side but have you ever considered doing a grandfather clock? There are mods that have tried but nothing beats your design styles. It would tie in so nicely with the victorian era you seem to have going!

The thought did cross my mind at one time. It would be kind of cool to have a nice clock that was maybe a little easier to read than the minecraft vanilla clock. I would have to do an animating swinging pendulum for sure. I could even add some practical value by letting you output redstone at certain times of the minecraft day or per interval or something. Hmmmm, I'll have to think about this some more. I do like the idea the more i think about it. I'll throw it in the idea pot and let it steep a while. ;)

    Quote from krwminer

    Nuchaz,

First off thanks for all the hard work on this great mod. I *never* play minecraft now without it.

Before 1.7 part of my game play was to collect and duplicate enchanted books of single enchantments. I always found the levels of experience required by the printing press to be fair and with a lot of work I could get a collection of enchant books that I most used.

Now I find that this does not work so well anymore. With so many books being multiple enchantments, (most of which I do not want), it is cost prohibited to copy enchanted books for the most part now.

What would really awesome is some way to copy only selected enchantments. :D

    What do you think?

Hmmm, that is something I am going to have to put some thought into. I wasn't aware 1.7.x was giving multiple enchants per book now. It would be kind of nice to be able to separate the enchantments to separate books. I'll do some thinking on this.

There are options in the BiblioCraft config to change the cost of enchanting, so that is an alternative option for you if you wanted to make it a little cheaper.

    Quote from ReTeYeZ

Would it be possible to make the Toolracks and Sword Pedestals compatible with GregTech 5 tools/weapons?

You should be able to open the BiblioCraft config file and add new keywords so that stuff works for now. I'll see about adding default support for it though too for a future release.

Hey Nuchaz, I have a request.

Firstly let me say that your mod is probably the best funriture mod I have seen! You have shelves, chairs with different colors, tables, plates... oh wait you know what you have because you made it. Anyway as you can tell your mod is in my top awesome ten list. I have one request. Be aware I am not a modder so I am not sure how this stuff works but I was wondering if you could make the newest update with the crafting tables and bells downloadable for 1.6.4? Me and my friend are having the worst server spawning problems and are afraid to update Minecraft because of this reason. I thought mo creatures did it so I was wondering if you...could?

    Thanks :)
Unforchantly, I don't have any plans to backport features to 1.6.4. The update was a huge one and a lot of stuff changed between 1.7.2 and 1.6.4 and it would just be too time consuming to do so. I pretty much plan to just keep moving forward. I seen on twitter where Searge mentioned they were working on MCP for 1.7.9 so hopefully within the coming week I will be able to update to 1.7.9.

    Quote from Auric245524

But those don't fit well with magic themed mods. When I first saw the fancy crafting table I thought I finally got an auto crafting table that would fit well with my selection of mods. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. You could always add a new block that autocrafts stuff and keep the fancy crafting table how it is now.

yeah, fair point. I'll consider the idea of a separate auto-crafting table at some point. It would be nice to have something somewhat simple that would work with just vanilla even and maybe hoppers in and out. It probably wouldn't be that hard if I used the recipe books and such as the recipe plan and did something like that. An internal inventory would be good for that kind of block. Yeah, I do like the idea as an additional thing and I could definitely see myself using it. I'll put some more thought into this sometime and see where it goes. :)

    Quote from Auric245524

Hey Nuchaz, how would one go about making new models for your blocks? I remember you talking about it a few times in the past and more blocky models seems to be a fairly popular request. I'd like to take a look into it and see if I can come up with something.

So now with Minecraft 1.7.2 all my models were added as resource pack stuff so I am thinking that now you should be able to make resource packs with models to replace any of the OBJ models I have. I'm not clear on the process of putting together a resource pack so I can't elaborate on that, but it should be doable.

If you open up the BiblioCraft jar file (something like winRAR works, I imagine 7zip should do the job too) and navigate to the assets\bibliocraft\models directory you'll find all the OBJ formated models. You can extract these and then open them up in your prefered 3D modeling app. The main requirement to replace my models would be to make sure you have the same number of parts all with the same names as my original model. As long as that requirement is met, you should be able to replace the model no problems.

For models that use custom texture maps, you should be able to UV map your new models any way you like then just replace the matching texture in the assets\bibliocraft\textures\models directory with your own.

Most major 3D apps all support OBJ import/export, so that would be the only main thing you need from your 3D app. Blender is a good free solution that supports this. If your a student you can get free student licence for 3Dsmax or Maya, those both support OBJ as well.

It's insanely practical :) I kind of wish the new crafting table had a whole new texture though rather than using the existing crafting table's top. What can I say, I like my variety.

Anyways, just wanted to let you know that I added (ongoing) support for Bibliocraft to my resource pack Fibercraft.

Thanks for all the hard work and for making Minecraft that much more enjoyable :D

    Thanks! :D
I'll be sure to post a link to your resource pack within my addons section on my website.

I was able to track this down. If I search the region .mca files and find the mapFrameTiles, removing the entries for waypoints and restarting the world fixes the crash for that tile(s). New waypoints do not create a crash. From looking at the block that was having the issue, the MapWaypointColors was not defined. I can search the region files for this and fix it, I'm just not sure if anyone else will hit this issue.

Update: I have tested this on several test worlds and it is reproducible. After a 1.6 world successfully starts on 1.7, the MapWaypoingColors that were defined prior are removed. Setting the color manually in the .mca files fixes it and future restarts will not drop the value again. It must be something done/happening during the conversion process itself.

Glad you was able to work out a solution. Waypoint Colors were broke due to how NBT handling had changed from 1.6 to 1.7 minecraft. I just had to adapt best I could. They basically dumped the method I was using and favor of something different. The new way is a little better I think, so Its all for the better I suppose.

    Quote from Durand1w

On updating a 1.6 world to 1.7, I have encountered one other issue that was mentioned ass a possibility. Weapon Cases are retained, but the wood type is randomized for old cases (red lined cases are now acacia, etc). Looking at the region.mca files, how/where is the wood type for each tile entity defined?

Previously, in 1.6.4, I used metadata for each case, the first 4 meta values would have been oak with each of the 4 colors interiors. Since the update added 2 more woods, I had to change something since I was using all 16 meta values for 4 woods with 4 colors. Now I just use the first 6 meta values for the different woods and have the interior color pulled from the added carpet that is saved to NBT. So anything of meta values 0-3 was oak is now meta value 0, anything 4-7 was spruce is now meta 1, 8-11 was birch and is now meta 2, and anything that was meta 12-15 is now meta value 3.

Thanks everyone. I am hoping to find some time maybe this weekend to try to get a small update out with some tweaks and updated translations. Apologies for a late response to some of these, I've been crazy busy lately and haven't really had a chance to sit down and go through the forum.

Awesome list of new features, especially the fancy workbench. What would be really cool (like you need new feature ideas at this point lol) is if it could be aware of the various pipes and ducts from other mods, so that if it detects a pipe attached to it, and the other end of that pipe is attached to an inventory object like a chest, it would automatically see if the needed recipe items are there and pull them in to craft the item. I'm thinking especially of the transport pipe system from project red that's included in the Attack of the B-Team mod pack, since it can inventory a huge amount of items, the fancy workbench would have a large inventory to pull items from.

That would be fancy, but it is a little outside of what I wanted out of the fancy workbench. Mainly because I made it more like the vanilla crafting bench in that each player that uses it has their own crafting grid. You could pipe into/out recipe books, but that is about it. I did it like that partially because I had a bad habit of leaving stuff in other types of crafting table (like the old project benches from redpower
or other things like that) and I would end up with messy crafting benches full of stuff that would be in my way. I also felt that there is quite a few really good options for tables like that already so I wanted to do something a little different.

Honestly, if you want a crafting table with an inventory you can pump stuff and maybe do autocrafting I would just use the thermal expansion cyclic assemblers (my personal fav auto-crafting table) or the ME crafting systems (the ultra fancy! ;) )

Really like the new 1.7 updates. I have run into an issue with updating a 1.6 world to 1.7 related to rendering map frame tiles. I have 2 crash logs below, so if you can make any suggestions, that would be great. I know where the maps are in the game, so I manually changed my player position and approached another map site with the same crash. New Map Frames with Maps don't cause a crash in 1.7.2, so my guess is that it is related to how the block information may have been migrated?

That is an odd error. I see it has to do with the lists of variables I store in the map frames. It is like the map frame is failing to read off some saved data and creating an empty array.

When you say a 1.6 world to 1.7, do you mean like a Minecraft v1.6.4 to Minecraft v1.7.2 or BiblioCraft 1.6.x to BIblioCraft 1.7.x? The bibliocraft update didn't include any changes, however, there was a big change on the way map frames store and read off data on the minecraft update from v1.6.4 to v1.7.2 due to vanilla changes to code I had to change it, mojang broke the old NBT methods.

Hmmm, that shouldn't be happening. I have an MCPC+ server setup on my local machine and during testing I hadn't seen this issue. That might be some MCPC+ issue. I guess if it doesn't go away with newer updates of MCPC+ let me know and I'll investigate this further.

Looks awesome. I'm stuck at 1.6.4 atm but this almost made me switch.

I know you won't make the newer versions work in 1.6.4 and I won't ask for it but if you ever change your mind I wouldn't complain. :P

About the new big book btw. Is there any chance of adding a way to put in pics like on the signs? That would make the book double-awesome. :)

I thought about doing that, adding images to the books, and I still might in a future version. As it is, if you measure by lines of code (which is a terrible metric, I know, but it can give some rough sense of the complexity of things) then the big book had already become the 2nd most complicated thing in BiblioCraft. So I decided to draw the line there for now. I wrote that right before doing the fancy signs too, so the item images thing in GUI's was still kind of a new thing for me. Now that i have some experience with it though, I bet I could pull it off real nice. I would want to do ghost items though, I think that would be best. So yeah, its on my someday list. ;)

    Quote from Dweller_Benthos

After fooling with book cases a bit, it's nice to have them back to back to make a "library row" but they each take up half of two separate blocks. I'm still on the 1.6.4 version used in Attack of the B-Team, and haven't had a chance to try the newest version yet, but antoher feature idea, lol.

Double-sided book cases. Takes up one full block, but has shelves on both sides to make easier rows of shelves and aisles in between. Though I suppose putting rows of regular book cases would do the same thing, just not line up on individual blocks.

I had kind of wanted to do this before too, but I hadn't wanted to take the time on it since it would basically be another block and I would have to deal with the logic of placing single sides bookcases and copying items from one inventory to another. I don't think it would be too difficult, just a bit time consuming setting it all up. I might do it eventually though.

    Quote from TowerOfGlass

I'd love to see something like the cookie jar, but showinng the item the jar contains (while a visual representation of how full the jar is, like the cookie jar has would be a nice bonus, I'd be happy even if it always showed just one of the item.)

They'd be wonderful for organizing ingrediants and compnants in a workshop.

This is another something I've thought about doing, esp since it has been requested a decent number of times now since I came out with the cookie jar. I mainly made it like it is because it made my laugh when I was making it and thinking about it like that. I might eventually update it though to add some more features like that.

Ah didnt know about the carpenter wall, even though I have used that mod for a while. Thank you :) .

Your new version is very cool.

Got another idea! A secret bookshelf that you can open with a button (redstone) or a book. It will swing open backwards or farwars. The drill will change position of the secret opening book.

I almost had started working on something like that awhile back, but ran into some logistics issues on how to get it like I would want. Technically, there is a little trick you can use on any bookcase with the screw gun or hand drill to have a pseudo secret door. if you have the bookcases at the back of the block, then stand on the same block and right click with the screw gun/hand drill moving the bookcase forward, the player will clip into the bookcase allowing you to walk through to the other side, lol. Not exactly the secret door I've always imagined, but it is a sneaky little trick you can use to walk through a bookcase. ;)

    Mod suggestion:

Been thinking on this one for a while and did not know when to mention it.
Is it possible to change the chairs so you can put carpet under them just like you do the tables?

That might be pretty easy for me to do. I'll look into adding that feature. I do agree too that would be nice to have, esp with the fact the tables already do it and the seats look nice around the tables.

    Quote from Zeno410

I'm having a very problematic bug where maps are disappearing from map frames. I had all my maps up on a map wall of acacia map frames. I lost maps 7,8, and 9, but not 10. I may have lost 6 too, but I'm not sure. I still have a copy of 6, so that's not significant, but those were my only copies of 7,8, and 9. The maps are still in the data folder so I suppose I can cheat them in, but it's still disturbing.

Try using the screw gun / hand drill and see if you can still retrieve the maps from the frames, maybe they just aren't rendering? Vanilla maps can be a little troublesome sometimes. I'm not sure why else they would or even could disappear. The map frames essentially are just a chest with 1 slot that only accepts maps. Then I just read info from the map and read other data from the block that stores information about pins, rotations, and stuff.

    Hello Nuchaz!

Thanks for putting in a lot of time and effort to bring us this excellent mod! Much appreciated! But..

Bug Report! - Filling Shelves Causes FPS Drop

    [ 'Bibliocraft' v 1.7 - 'Minecraft' v 1.7.2 - 'Forge' v 1060]

I have experimented with this thoroughly and have discovered filling shelves with lots of items causes a massive frames per second (fps) drop.

    With Other Mods Activated

FPS With 25 empty shelves: 45
FPS with 25 filled shelves: 19 (Down 58%)

    With No Other Mods

FPS With 25 empty shelves: 480
FPS with 25 filled shelves: 378 (Down 21%)

Quite the Difference! Obviously the more strain on the system, the more exaggerated the difference, but the fps drop definitely exists with 'Bibliocraft' by itself. My brothers and I would love to use shelves on our server, but sadly, they're too resource heavy at the moment... Hope you can optimise them a little!

    Kind Regards,

    Little_Spectre.

This is something I am not sure I can do much about. You could use fast graphics mode to increase performance. Theoretically you should see a similar performance drop if you have the same number of items laying on the ground rendering. The potion shelves can be the worst since potions tick with the fancy effect, and 12 potions on 1 shelves means 13 things are ticking (The shelf, plus each potion). It is basically just a consequence of trying to rendering basic minecraft items all over. Almost all of the performance needed should be client side rendering though, the blocks should be pretty much like any chest or tile entity as far as a server is concerned.

    Quote from Alex5000

Can you add the pedestal, the fancy sign and the fancy crafting table in the 1.6.4 version? Please i love your mod

I don't really have any plans to back-port features. It is just a lot of work to do so, esp with everything written on 1.7.2, which is some areas in the code is quite different from 1.6.4 so some things would have to be done from scratch again. I just don't have the time to try to maintain new features on multiple minecraft versions. Even though my main survival game is still 1.6.4, heh. (Only casue of Jadedcat's Agrarian skies, that pack is so addictive! ;) ) But yeah, if it wasn't so much work, I likely would, just so I could have some of my new features myself in my agrarian skies world.

I keep hoping that soon we will get to move to Minecraft v1.7.9 or something newer. Nothing I can do about it though, I'm stuck with whatever version forge is at and I am pretty sure they are stuck at whatever version MCP is at.

posted a message on BiblioCraft [v2.4.5]-Bookcases, armor stands, shelves, printing presses, seats, clocks, the Atlas and more! Updated 06/21/2018
BiblioCraft is updated to v1.7.0! Download it hot of the presses from www.bibliocraftmod.com

Feel free to leave any questions, comments or feedback here on the forum, on my website, or on github. Enjoy! :D

Here is a copy of the changelog: :)
    v1.7.0
*New Block: Fancy Workbench, an upgraded crafting bench with the ability to create recipe books and has a storage space for 8 books on the front as well as a 9th slot for a active recipe book. Comes in all 6 woods. Place items in the crafting grid and a vanilla blank book into the active recipe book slot and click the arrow to create a new recipe book. With the recipe book in the active recipe slot a ghost image of the recipe will appear in the grid. Another arrow will appear above the book, click that to automatically load matching ingredients from your player’s inventory.
*New Item: Recipe Book, created with the Fancy Workbench, a Recipe Book will remember a recipe and assist in showing the ingredients and the pattern. Right click to open the GUI to see the recipe inside the book as well as a list of ingredients. The player can also write a short page description of the recipe and save the book. An unsigned book can be overwritten in the Fancy Workbench, but a signed recipe book cannot. Signed recipe books can also be copied using the printing press.
*New Block: Fancy Sign, This sign comes in all 6 wood colors and can be placed on the floor, wall, or ceiling. A screw gun or hand drill can be used to shift the sign from the back of the block to the center or to the front of the block. To open the GUI, sneak-right click with an empty hand. In the gui you can place up to 2 items/blocks which can be zoomed, positioned, and rotated anywhere on the sign. You can have up to 15 lines of small scale text, or scale the text up for larger text with fewer lines. There is also a button for adding the formatting symbol from Minecraft to make text formatting on the sign easy. There are several tooltips within the GUI that will help explain how everything works.
*New Block: Sword Pedestal, By popular request, This sword pedestal accepts most any sword, including modded ones, and emits a redstone signal when a sword is present. Can be created with any color wool or can be dyed after creation to any of the 16 Minecraft colors.
*New Block: Desk Bell, a simple desk bell that “dings” when right clicked. Will also accept a redstone signal and will “ding” upon receiving such.
*New Item: Big Book, Tons of editing options including buttons for all the available formatting options Minecraft offers as well as up to 8 “chapter” tabs that will each bookmark a selected page. Per line saleable text. Up to 44 lines of text per page on the smallest text scale. A “first page” and a “last page” button. Up to a total of 256 pages. Full printing press support for signed big books, though due to complexity big books are saved as raw NBT data and as such are not editable outside of Minecraft.
*New Item: Slotted Book, A simple one page book with a slot that will accept item stack. Player can type in a custom title and short description in the book. The title will change the name of the book so it looks just like any vanilla signed book. A great way to hide your secret items amongst your books!
*New Item: Hand Drill, A low tech version of the screw gun. All the same features and functions as a screw gun, but with a different look and new sounds.
*New Mechanic: Bookcases can be adjusted to sit on either the front or back of a block by right clicking with the screw gun or the hand drill on a bookcase.
*Expanded Print Press support: Supports the new Recipe Books and Big Books. For each of these, 2 separate files will be saved to the books folder in your config folder (SSP) or in your world folder (SMP). A basic file with a couple of lines of basic information for the typesetting table to read and a .dat file that contains the actual NBT compound tags from the books. These pairs of files can be passed around and shared freely allowing Big Books and Recipe Books to be copied to any world. This opens the possibility of stuff like sharing recipe collections or guidebooks for certain mods.
*Added a recipe for the reading enchantment. Simple place any enchanted book plus the reading glasses (or tinted glasses or monocle) into the crafting grid to make an enchanted book of reading that can be applied to a helmet of your choice.
*Fixed the Reading enchant, turned out to be broken after the Minecraft 1.7.2 update so it didn’t work in BiblioCraft v1.6.x branch.
*Fixed hoppers pulling stuff from labels. Labels should now be immune to hoppers.

Can we expect the Bibliocraft addons to be updated soon? Natura, Forestry and Biomes O Plenty have versions for 1.7 at this point in time. Perhaps maybe you could make an addon for other mods that add trees, such as Thaumcraft, and Witchery.

Hopefully. :) I would like to get those up and running sometime in the sometime near future.

    Quote from Rozarik

I apologize is this has already been answered; I tried looking for an answer but was unsuccessful. But I'm curious to know if this upcoming update to BiblioCraft will be compatible with 1.6.4 minecraft? In all honesty, this is my favorite mod ever created due to the customization it gives to the player, but I also manage a modpack which resides in 1.6.4. Some of my most desired features for BiblioCraft are coming in this next update and I'm just hoping that it will be compatible with my current version.

If not, then of well - sad day for me. But nonetheless, I just thought I should ask.

Keep up the awesome work Nuchaz. You're my favorite developer!

Unfortunately I don't have any plans to backport any new features to Minecraft 1.6.4. There was a ton of changes coming into Minecraft 1.7.x and it would be very difficult to backport. So yeah, any new releases will be for Minecraft 1.7.2 and beyond.

Mmmh ... nope. I'm in Singleplayer

Hmmm, I really don't know what is going on. I am getting close to my next release, so after it is out, grab that and try it, if you still have problems, let me know and we'll try to go from there.

    Quote from Sto3IV

Can you add thaumcraft support in some craftes?
    For example, this item:

I'll have to look into that, it is definitely a real good idea. I kind of wanted to use iron nuggets like that too, but I didn't really want to add just nuggets to the game for that recipe, esp with some of the other mods that I know add those. If there is a forge dictionary entry for iron nuggets I could just use that as an alternative recipe and hopefully forge would just made it work when thaumcraft or any more that adds iron nuggets and uses the forge ore dictionary is running.

    Quote from Excepto

The mod is really awsome. But I have 2 problems first that when you have all the wood could you make them resource pack compatible because for example if I use the redstone book and play on sphax then it is quite obvious it isn't a normal plank block. The second is that when I sit on a chair and then get of it moves me about 3 block forward.

Eventually I would like to have more support for resource packs and I have been building my models in such a way that the default texture is mapped to them so resource packs will work with the new stuff. But all the old stuff was designed with a certain texture layout and aren't easily adapted. It is something on my todo list I want to do eventually, but Its easy to put off because I could also spend the same time adding fun new features, so I usually just end up doing whatever excites me the most on a certain day. So yeah, one of these days.

The second thing, as mentioned previously, is a vanilla bug and out of my control. I imagine it will be fixed when forge updates to 1.7.9 or whatever version.

hmmm, I can't seem to duplicate the issue on my end. Were you on a server? If so, was it a forge server or a MCPC+ server?

If nothing else, hopefully the 1.7.0 update I am working on will work for you. :)

    Quote from Yusunoha

I agree on that, getting certain enchants too often that are not really worthwhile to get all the time. having it so you can get the enchant through a different type of enchanting does really sound more interesting then what I suggested, especially as vanilla enchanting often isn't really that attractive to use, so if there was perhaps another way of enchanting, to get certain enchants, that would really be more interesting

I've added a new way to obtain the enchantment that will be part of BiblioCraft 1.7.0. You will be able to take any enchanted book, doesn't matter what it is and throw it in a crafting grid with some reading glasses (or tinted glasses or monocle) and you will be able to craft an enchanted book of reading. You lose the original enchantment on the book and get back just the reading enchantment, so definitely best to use a cheap enchanted book you don't want. This way I feel there is still enough cost to make it an upgrade over the glasses, plus you still have to spend levels to get the book + levels to put on a helmet, but you are guaranteed to get the enchantment. Seems like a good balance for something that basically just adds convenience.

    Quote from GrammieFi

Ok, first off, odd question. Do thaumcraft infusion alters pull from warded jars while they are on bibliocraft potion shelves in 1.6.4? If not (we're thinking that they don't but I haven't tested it yet) is it possible to make it so they do? I'm guessing it's too late for adding it to bibliocraft for 1.6.4, but maybe for 1.7? It would be such a nice functionality if it could work. It makes my thaumcraft infusion room all neat and tidy.

I assume it's not even possible to have alchemy golems fill the jars while they are on the potion shelves, which is all right. I don't so much mind cooking up essentia and filling jars by hand for infusions, but the jars sitting all over make such a mess.

no, I don't believe they do. From thaumcrafts perspective potion shelves are basically just chests. The shelves do work nice for holding vials that the golems can grab and use to fill up the warded jars. I doubt I could do anything to make the warded jars work from the potion shelves though, I think thaumcraft would have to add support for dealing with jars inside of inventories before I could take advantage. It would be awesome though, no doubt about that.

    Quote from EldRoos

Ah very cool features :) . Much of what I wanted. Looking forward it.

I saw that too - cool. Wish there ware half walls similar to this. Would that not be easy to add? At least for woods and stone/cobberstone. Where you only could hang things on one side (block side).

1/2 thick walls wouldn't be terribly difficult to add, but that is getting a little more into construction material type stuff than I want to. There are a couple other options out there that already add this ability. Forge Multipart is an option. That pretty much turns every block into a 1/2 slab that can be placed in any position, as well as many smaller blocks. Carpenters blocks also has a way of making 1/2 slab walls which of course with that mod you can apply any block to it to get the texture. Just right click the face of a block with the hammer to shrink it to 1/2 block size in Carpenters blocks.

edit : almost finished,I've even done missing translations

Awesome! Thumbs up to you! :D
Everything that gets translated before initial release will be included into the initial release.

Ah, thats no good. This will be fixed in my 1.7.0 release.

    yeah!!!
    bibliocraft v1.7.0 is coming!!!
looks awesome, can't wait to see it released

edit : wait, when will this version be released?
    tomorrow,in a few hours/days/weeks/months/years/centuries... (hell... I hope it won't be centuries...)

edit 2 : I watched the 1.7.0 screenshot again, and I discovered something,a new block, that you seems to have forgot in the 1.7.0 preview text : the full-block bookcase
that's funny,I were about suggesting it (and I don't know why but this part of the post seems to wanna be in Italic...)

It'll be released when its done. :)
I would guess on the order of days to week (singular) the way things are looking.

I was wondering how many people would catch the bookcases ;)
Instead of full blocks though, they are still 1/2 blocks, but rather you can shift them 1/2 block forward/back now with the screw gun (or new hand drill).

When I exit a seat I get teleported a little away, no matter where I place it, though it teleports me to the same spot depending on where it is placed), it even goes through walls, this is very annoying as I just want a place to sit while doing my research for thaumcraft.

Yeah, this is a vanilla 1.7.2 bug and there really isn't anything I know of that I can do about it. I did notice when testing a MCPC+ server that they seemed to have implemented a fix on their end so I was popping out on top of my seats instead of like 6 blocks or whatever away. Other than that thou, for SSP or regular forge SMP (or vanilla for that matter) we are stuck with it until we get a new MCP and forge so we can all update to minecraft 1.7.9 or 1.8.x or whatever they are going to give us next.

Thanks everyone. I posted to my website earlier, www.bibliocraftmod.com, some more preview pics and information about translations. Hopefully I'll be able to get the little left over bugs and whatnots fixed up and have a release ready by next week. :) At least thats the plan.

The evil side of me had an idea: Potion laced food. Using a potion (or most likely, a poison) on a plate of food will give the next person to eat from the plate the potion effect. Of course, this could be useful in other ways as well by using something like a speed or strength potion.

lol, that could be hilarious. Maybe if you could see little green poison wispies (like the potion effect) or red wispies after a potion was applied, but only if you are wearing the reading glasses / monocle. So then there would be a way to prevent yourself from eating poison food if you were equipped with the right stuff. I'll have to keep this idea in mind and maybe think on it some more for some future version. ;)

    Quote from Too-DAMN-Much

actually have had that idea in my brain for a long time, the poison mod, basically would add a plant that lurks in forests and attacks/kills players who get too curious, each dinner that wanders near enough causes it to reproduce an extra block or two.
you'd have to fight it or something probably, well.. as much as you could fight a stationary bush, but it would make ranged attacks at you, and assuming you lived instead of feeding it would be able to harvest bush pieces so you could grow one where ever you want.
finally you'd be able to get fruit from the bushes somehow, i guess just right click or whatever, since if you're able to get close enough to do that, it's not gonna find you as a victim anyway.

from the berries, you'd grind them up into a sort of food additive that would allow you to poison other players food, the problem here was making it not insanely easy to detect poisoned food, so it couldn't have any metadata or anything else visible to players that might tip them off and would have to contaminate a whole stack when a single piece of poisoned food was added to it.

the poison though was, at least, i think the interesting part, it wouldn't be the "oh god why do i have a hunger debuff" sort, but something very much more subtle and easy to repeatedly ingest over moderate periods of time being unaware, until you finally have consumed a lethal dosage (fyi, the intent was to make how much of a dosage you add to anything up to the player poisoning food & their resources, anywhere from it would take literal years to be lethal to a single dose would kill you instantaneously) at which point you'd need treatment, more on that in a second.

always wanted it to be possible to have ways that you could find poison, but never safely and never 100% of the time, unless you were willing to risk a fatal dosage, in short if you think food is poisoned, have someone else try it first and observe the results would be the main way, also considered toasting as a mechanic as the phrase comes from the literal practice of putting a piece of bread into a glass of wine with the hope that it would absorb anything someone might want to harm you with.
figured toast should be able to absorb some, but not all of the poison and only not eating it would be able to nullify it entirely, lower the intensity and delivered dosage, for sure, definitely, but make the food safe, not a chance, just throw that stuff out.

treatment and well this may be a bit too grotesque/realistic for some, but i always thought that the cure for the poison wouldn't just be some magical pill you eat and poof you're safe, no, you'd need a stomach pump, the dosage of poison currently in your system and accumulated would determine how long another player would have to pump your stomach for to remove the poison from your body entirely and best of all, having your stomach pumped would force you to hold your breath the entire time and of course could in and of itself be a fatal procedure if administrated carelessly or just wrongly.

so there, yeah, nuchaz i'm sorry if this is a bit off topic, but i've had.... well.. i can't call that a design document by any stretch, but seeing what auric posted made me want to get it out in the open air and see if anyone wanted to pick it up as their project.

unfortunately, java and i are not friends, in fact, we're bitter enemies, i barely know how to script in one simplistic language and my attempts to learn only enrage, coding, i give up, there i said it, but at least now, the idea in it's entirety and with all the thought i put into making it a good gameplay system are out where maybe someone will make better use of them than i.

so yeah, believe it or not, that's not what i intended to post, i wanted to thank nuchaz for the tip off about his twitter and say that i really like what you showed in the teaser images, got a bit sidetracked on the way, hope you don't mind.

lol, that is pretty sweet idea. That would be a fun mechanic to have integrated into one of the bigger food mods i think. I thought the stomach pump idea was hilarious. I could just imagine steve spitting up bloody chunks of stuff while trying to use it. I would probably make it terribly gory if I did it. I get a kick out of dark humor like that.

Maybe you will inspire someone to pick up the idea and run with it. :)

    Hello everyone
I was playing FTB Ultimate when my game crash
    Can someone help me?

    Log file: http://pastebin.com/TaSL9CQi

It looks like you must have something on the armor stand that doesn't work right. It looks like your running an older version of BiblioCraft too. I can't remember off hand when I implemented it, but many versions have a config file option (minecraft/config/BiblioCraft.cfg) to disable rendering which will stop the armor stand from rendering whatever isn't working so you can load the game and remove the piece of offending armor then just go back to the config and re-enable the rendering. If that was added after v1.1.2 of BiblioCraft than your only real option to save your world would be to use MCEdit and remove the armor stand in question.

I saw your post and under your icon it said 4 post, I also miss-read your profile and thought it said member since March 19 2014.
I have seen to many new people (who know nothing about coding or the work the coders have to put into a mod) "bad mouthing" mods in their first half dozen post, thought you where just another one. Sorry if I came off to strong, got caught at a bad time, and mistoke you for something else as I just explained. No hard feelings I hope.

As for suggestions to help the mods I follow I wait until I have a valid/reasonable suggestion, then I make them.

Edit - this was supposed to be 2 separate post
    Nuchaz

    Question for you.

Are the seats designed this way, or am I doing something wrong?
On some of the seats, when I combined them, I can't get the seat backs to merge..

    Little confused here.

    Edit -
Never mined, just spotted that only 2 styles of seat backs will connect together when joining seats, Never found this mentioned on your website, but noticed it in your response to EldRoos

Yeah, I guess I need to mention that on my website somewhere. I might expand that support to the other backs eventually, but for now, just the 2 work like that.

There is a TFC branch for 1.7.2 right now : https://github.com/D...ft/tree/Build79

For the recipe I could not tell how it work as I am not a coder, however, you can ask on irc on #tfcraft and many people involved can check with you, among others, Bioxx, Dunk, Kittychanley and Emris. If a change to TFC is required to make it easier for addons, I am sure that they can check what can be done.

Assuming you can use anything in recipes, you could change slabs by simgle planks and wool blocks by wool carpet or wool cloth. Right now there is only 1 color of wool cloth, but I can guarantee that if colored wool cloth is required for an addon you make, someone will send a pull request to add them in the game and Bioxx will accept it.

(see edit) I know for sure that one thing that would need to be done is to include the code to make your storage as TFC storage, so hot item stored in it would cool down and food would decay. For that, ask on irc and they can tell you about it. Other thant that I migh require some tweak, like allow alcohol in potion shelve (TFC also disable potion).

And of course, some Bibliocraft items are useless in TFC, as there is no enchantment for example. I also think that we do not have map and compass recipe withtout addon so the items related to maps would be hard to get.

As for the spreadsheet for translation, if you are interested, I can work on the initial setup for you and give you support if needed. Just PM me. If you want to host the file, just make a copy and send me the share link and I will work on it.

    Edit
    I asked on irc

    about ID in recipe :
<Kittychanley> yeah, that was a long time ago
<Kittychanley> before there was a static list of IDs

TFC have "ticking" inventories so hot metal cool down and food decay.
<Kittychanley> if we leave it so the bibliocraft inventories don't tick, you can use them just as display without worrying about the food rotting away unless you take it out
<Kittychanley> if you put the hot ingot in the shelf, when you take it out, it will quickly make up for all of those lost ticks and cool to be the same temperature as if it was stored in your inventory the entire time

Thanks for the info! I had no idea they had a 1.7.2 branch going.

I might have to revive my TFC addon eventually then. The whole removal of Id's now should hopefully make it a lot easier to get recipes going. I would like to have more proper TFC style recipes too when I do it. Like maybe my compass could be make from a single gold ingot on the anvil or something and other stuff like that.

I imagine it would be easy enough to make my inventories tick as well, I would just make them only do that if TFC was present which is easy enough to test for.

I have a problem with the typesseting table .
When I want to save a book that doesn't save it in versions 1.6.3,1.6.2 and 1.6.1 but in 1.6.0 that's work perfectly.
I want to know if there are a solution for this .

PS: sorry if somebody already asked this

thats interesting and kind of odd. I don't believe I had made any changes to the typesetting table after 1.6.0. I wonder if the name of the book had anything to do with it. What exactly is the name of the book? if i may ask.

I could not find any other way or place to say this, so I thought I would say it here because I felt it needed to be said. Your handcrafted Elder Dragon coffee table is incredible! I noticed it wasn't getting much attention (or at least from what I could see,) so I figured it needed to be said somehow, someway that your craftsmanship is amazing! It just needed to be said, so I thought I would say it here. Good job man!

Also, I just want to say that BiblioCraft is amazing too. It's one of my favorite mods primarily due to the interactive bookcases, amazingly modeled & textured chairs, and the ability to pretty much make a library that you could share with friends! :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond:

Thanks! :D Woodworking is another one of my passions and probably the main reason why BiblioCraft is so heavy on wood stuff. The dragon coffee table took a good month of work. Fun stuff. I might eventually model it and bring it into minecraft just for fun. Another one of those fun things on my huge backlog of fun stuff I would like to get around to eventually. ;)

would it be possible, when you craft the glasses, the glasses automatically receive the reading enchant?
I know the glasses already give you that ability, but it's a very annoying enchant to get on a book, so if I could take the enchant of the glasses that already came with it, I'm able to put the reading enchant on other helmets

Definitely understandable. I'll have to look into this. Maybe I could make some custom book that is guaranteed to get a reading enchantment. I almost could use my own style of enchanting table. I know that has been kind of talked about before and I've thought about it. I'll put some thought into this and see if I can come up with a solution to made getting the reading enchant a bit easier. I made it somewhat rare just because I know I would be annoyed myself if every other couple books I enchanted popped out a reading enchantment. There is a fine line between too much and not enough with these kinds of things. So maybe an alternate way of getting it would be more ideal.

i dont know if this is just me, but when i click on the website link, it say error connecting to database.
    any help? thanks

Yeah, it was down. Server actually ran out of memory and closed the database which is why you get that error. That was just linux trying to be "smart" by closing things that hog memory. I may have to just upgrade my webserver to something with more memory. I try to stay on top of it, but when it goes down when I'm sleeping, there is little I can do till I wake up. Either posting on this forum or sending me a tweet (both of which happened today) are both good ways to get ahold of letting me know if I don't catch it, providing I am awake. ;)
