Whelp, guess I'd better be ready to kiss this game goodbye then. Some people are right, Microsoft isn't stupid and I'm sure they're well aware that if they don't keep up development across all platforms the potential profit from Minecraft is not going to be anywhere near as big as they need it to be in order to keep putting funds into the game. On the other hand I'm not expecting much from them. I'm glad they pushed 1.8 before selling the company, because I'm sure if they hadn't Microsoft would never put it out. That might be our final update, and we might never see a lot of the fixes and promises that Mojang made us. I'm not too hopeful for the future of Minecraft at this point, I'm hedging my bets that the Xbox version and maybe the mobile version and if we're super lucky the computer version will be the only ones getting updates. I'm also sure we're going to see more money involved either to play or to buy updates like DLC's in the future if there are going to be any.
It was fun while it lasted, Mojang. I hope I'm wrong about Microsoft ruining this game, but I sincerely doubt it.

Sep 11, 2014Noxomra posted a message on Microsoft Buying Minecraft? For the love of all that is holy I hope this is just a joke or that Mojang says no. Notch never wanted the game to go that direction, he understood I think all too well that selling the game to anyone would ruin it. And from all the comments I'm seeing, it looks as if the players don't want it either and I'm on board with that particular aspect.Posted in: News
Microsoft in particular is not known for good things when it comes to games. The mainstream gaming industry charges $60+ for new games, extra dollars for the DLC's and is generally a pain in the but to deal with. And wasn't it Microsoft with the new Xbox One that almost had a thing where used games would be obsolete? I remember reading something about the controversy over the system as one of their new things would be that you couldn't share games with other people without paying an extra fee, so there would be no more lending games to friends and selling your used game would be useless because whoever bought it would have to pay for the hard copy and the extra fee.
Can you imagine if they did something the same to Minecraft? Because I think that they would. I think that they would begin to charge us for each update like a DLC, and maybe even go so far as to require a subscription in order to keep playing, or at the very least like they do with the Xbox systems require you to pay a subscription in order to play online. Servers and being able to LAN with friends is something a big part of the community takes part in, myself included, and Minecraft would quickly become far less fun if I had to start paying in order to do that. Mostly because I cannot afford to, and I know many of my friends would not be able to either and hundreds of the servers that make up the Minecraft community would quickly disappear.
Microsoft buying Mojang and thus Minecraft is probably the worst thing that could ever happen and I am completely against it. -

Jun 23, 2014Noxomra posted a message on Saturday with Sach: The Villager Project, Day 1I suggest breeding experiments as a first course of action to make sure that you have a stable population to experiment on for the future, especially since said experiments may turn out to be deadly. I would also suggest better lighting in the village to keep monsters away and/or the addition of an iron golem or two in order to protect them within their walls.Posted in: News
If the addition of a Nether Portal is made for the purposes of study, I would also suggest going to the other side and setting up a similar wall barrier to keep them safe from the various monsters we know lurk there. Perhaps with a way to let them out one by one or a few at a time for more controlled experiments. This will also keep the monsters from coming back into the overworld, as this could cause various disasters in the village.
The safety of the villagers and ensuring a stable population should be very high up on the list. I'd really hate to see these experiments have to end because they all died, you know? -
Dec 15, 2013Noxomra posted a message on Saturday with Sach: Whats In a NameMy IGN is NoxInEralon, and there is indeed a bit of a story there. As you can see my forum name is Noxomra, so the 'Nox' part is short for that since most people who know me around the web by Noxomra call me shortened versions like Nox or Noxy. The 'InEralon' bit comes from two places; first, Eralon is the name of a fictional world I created and where two books that I have written and hope to get published are set. Secondly, I liked the way the name flowed the same way as 'Alice in Wonderland', and since I had just watched the Tim Burton remake when I signed up for my account I thought the name would be perfect.Posted in: News
After all, this way most people still call me Nox and then they ask what Eralon is so it's a way to promote my books at the same time. Of course that was not my intention, but I realized that it could be a thing when people did start to ask so I've just taken it from there ^^ -
Oct 31, 2013Noxomra posted a message on Saturday with Sach: Today, Halloween; Tomorrow, MineconSadly, I can't make it to Minecon, mostly due to lack of funding and also because there's going to be a local convention closer to home being held this weekend that I already had plans for since long before Minecon was announced. So I guess I'll go on to fears, then.Posted in: News
I've never really overcome anything scary, because scary for me falls on a spectrum of 'nope not scary' (everyday things like driving), 'sorta scary but I can deal with it myself' (having to get up somewhere high to put something up or take it down, for instance), 'okay that is scary I need to get someone to help me deal with it' (a spider on the ceiling, cobwebs in the basement, ect) or 'dear gods that is scary I am not even going near it!' (going out in a thunderstorm, being left alone in a dark space, going through any sort of wooded area by myself, stuff like that) -
Oct 19, 2013Noxomra posted a message on Saturday with Sach: A Question Worth ExploringI'll be frank: I love my game modded. At present I have over 20 mods in my Minecraft, and I make a habit of frequently browsing the Modder forums in search of cool new ones that'll make the game that much more enjoyable. Extra animals and plants so I can ride around on cool things and have large, varied farms. More furniture and building blocks so I can make more colorful buildings that are more true to life. And I'm always adding!Posted in: News
I prefer to play solo so I don't have to worry about other people possibly destroying my buildings or the server going down permanently which results in me loosing all the hours of work I spent on the various projects I do there. With the ability to do LAN servers I will sometimes play with my friends when they come on over if they want to, building together is quite a bit of fun. I usually just pass along my 'mods' folder to them since they all at least partially mod their games and have Forge already.
As far as the style of play, I think it's pretty average. I go survival and try to build, to make the land my own and build giant cities that take me hundreds of hours to build. Each city is in its own style from modern to Victorian to medieval. I also keep a creative world where I build the things first so I don't screw up, and toggle between the two but the creative is strictly for experimenting and making sure I know how to build something before I go at it in survival. -
Sep 26, 2012Noxomra posted a message on This Week in Minecraft - 1.4, Snapshots, Xbox, and MoreI'm actually rather disappointed that there's been no word about the API. Don't get me wrong, I love Minecraft and Mojang and am thankful to have found this awesome community and all the people involved but it's getting frustrating that we keep getting promised this API and then it doesn't happen.Posted in: News
1.3.2 was supposed to be the 'gateway' to the API support, and with having to pretty much recode mods from scratch a lot of the big/popular ones haven't even updated yet. Some are waiting for the 1.4 release because we were promised the API, and if that's not going to happen then that just makes it more difficult for everyone.
And don't say "Oh, just don't update your game" because that's not a solution. I'm still in 1.2.5 and that means what few mods I use that have moved into 1.3.2 have new features that I can't use yet, in addition to the new features of the game. I don't want to be behind forever, you know?
Oh, and have a nice vacation Jeb! You've earned it, and I'm sure the community won't collapse while you're gone ^^ -

And now my friend and I are laughing about the possibilities. She's an explorer whereas I'm more of a builder, so us playing together with our other friend who prefers farming and animal herding and his buddy who loves to hunt for dungeons and build mob traps. I was also mocked for being a Pagan, had someone on a server who was Christian interrupt some chatter between me and two other Pagans and tell us that we should read the Bible and go to church or else we'd burn in hell and apparently our disbelief in hell didn't mean it wasn't a real place. When we told him to **** off and leave us alone he turned griefer on us and the admins didn't do anything because apparently we 'devil worshipers' had provoked him.
Age doesn't seem to matter too much, it's more maturity level. I've run into some 14-15 year old kids who are mature and take everything in stride, whereas the Christian guy mentioned above was in his late 20's, so by far not a kid. The fanbase stretches from kids to adults, and I have seen just as many teens and pre-teens as I have 20's and 30's and even older.
But yeah no, the sexism is by far the biggest reason I won't go into servers anymore. It's either solo or a small Realms one for me and a few friends that I know won't pull that stuff on me.

So in this case I'm all for cracking as a try before you buy, not only to get all the features but also to make sure your computer can handle the full game. Once you decide you like the game enough to keep on playing then you really should buy it, because that's hard work that the developers put into it and they deserve the funds for making such an amazing game.

Both types can be massive, and depending on how you like to build a lot of times making a home in a cave or crevice is easier than building one, but it's more about the interior deign than the exterior design since unless you're actually building houses in caves you're not going to see the exterior.
I'm a fan of underground building for SMP myself, because I like redstone so I can easily hide the doors and various rooms within it to prevent theft if that's an issue. I'm also not much for exterior design so I like the fact that I can focus everything on the interior instead.
It really depends on your personal taste and what you find easier to work with.

Why you want to be added to the whitelist?: I've been looking for a small survival server for a while now, I really miss the playing together aspect of the game.
Why I should add you to the whitelist?: I am mature, responsible, respectful and friendly.
Do you promise to follow these simple rules?: Yes of course!

I think the worst thing to happen is the Wither and the stuff that came with it. I love beacons, don't get me wrong, but I don't like that they're so expensive in survival and I just don't like the Wither as a whole. Too many horror stories about people summoning one up without fully realizing its power and having much of their stuff destroyed or worse summoning it in the middle of other people's buildings or even spawn points in servers where the owners were not properly prepared to protect against it. I don't think we needed such a strong 'boss' type monster when we already had the Ender Dragon and especially now with the new water mobs and temples.

As I said before, it was actually the result of several medical conditions that I'm getting treated now that I'm in my 20's and there is no one to tell my my aches and pains and medical conditions aren't valid. Everything wrong with me in a physical level can be attributed to one of the 3 conditions.
So I hated P.E. because I was forced to do painful physical exercise and when I told the teacher and my mom it hurt I was dismissed. Maybe even if I didn't have the tendinitis and my legs didn't feel like they were on fire from walking from one class to another let alone having to do P.E. I could have managed.
However, I am all about giving kids a break from the daily grind of sit down, shut up and listen to the teacher and I do think P.E. classes are a good thing. I just think that the way they are currently run within the US school system is terrible and it should be more about allowing the kids to do what they want in terms of a physical activity instead of forcing them to do certain things.

When I was 16 I started sleeping on the couch in the living room instead of my bedroom because at that point the 2 hours on the computer a night rule was lifted due to my age and grades and mom decided to let me be responsible and not give me a bedtime. Over the next year she would wake me up at least once a week and ask me why I had moved the tin horse. It would be in the kitchen or laundry room or even the garage, and sometimes mom would find it standing in the hall outside her bedroom door. No matter how many times I told her I didn't move it (because I didn't!) she would just roll her eyes and tell me not to do it again.
Finally when I was 20 my mom left me home alone for like a week. A friend of mine came over to stay with me, and we both slept upstairs in my old room (I moved into our basement after I graduated high school because it's bigger and has its own kitchen and bathroom and my cousin who had been using it had moved out) because it had twin beds in it since my queen had been moved into the basement. I didn't tell her about the tin horse, in fact besides my mom no one ever knew, and about two days into her stay she woke up in the middle of the night and went to go to the bathroom. I heard her screaming and went to see what had happened, and there was that damn tin horse standing in the hallway facing down towards my room.
That was the final straw. I called my mom the next morning and told her I didn't give a crap what she thought I had enough. I was going to get rid of the thing, so while she was away and garbage day came I waited outside in my driveway for the garbage truck and when they pulled up I handed the dang thing to them and watched them put it in the truck and compress it. Mom was mad, of course, but the thing never came back and I have never felt safer in this house since I tossed it.

I'm also in the loop of my house needs to be symmetrical. I like things the same on both sides, but that's probably related to the above. And if I go exploring into caves I always put my torches on the ground because I've noticed a lot of people put them on the walls. That helps me know that I haven't been in an area before even if it's lit up. And of course I always plug up water and lava leaks underground because they annoy me and usually make exploration harder >.>
