..and that's why it's not a good idea to put important global servers in a hurricane region.. seriously, was that the cheaper option or something? lol

    WOW :D

This is incredible! Looks a bit strange tho. heh

Maybe a more useful model modification.. Is it possible to change stairs at all? Could we turn stair blocks into diagonal slopes/ramps? If it ends up looking right, it could make for some great looking diagonal roofs! :D

I wouldn't even bother with 1.7.2 bukkit anyway.. :/ We're almost sure to see a 1.7.3 bugfix update in the next week or two, so instead of wasting time on an incremental update, there's other things I need to manage with my servers until an official stable release comes out, that wont be updated again after a few weeks.. Just gonna stick to a 1.6.4 bukkit server, and a 1.7.2 vanilla test server for now. lol

Is it a known bug that Beacon beams don't look right?

The texture of the beam looks simplified/stretched vertically, no animation in it, and it only rotates at like 1 fps, so it looks like this slow jerky movement rotating instantly like 20 degrees at a time.

This Optifine bug has happened for me practically since beacons came out. When I remove Optifine, the beacons work like vanilla, rotating smoothly and the texture looks better and animates the way it should. It's happened with every version of Optifine I've tried, on all different settings, on 2 different PCs. lol

If you run vanilla MC, you won't need more than the default allocated memory. Minecraft allocates memory on its own as needed. All allocating more memory manually does is let the garbage pile up and let garbage collection occur less often, actually reducing performance in most cases.

That's good to know and all, but doesn't help me. lol
As a technical user, I wouldn't be asking about this if I didn't have a need for it. This new launcher will soon become the norm, and I need to find out how to change the memory allocation.
I know what I'm doing, I customize my java launch commands frequently for various reasons, but I can't seem to get it working with this new version. I'm sure I'm just forgetting something simple.. And was hoping someone, especially here, might know how.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to use the new launcher, and still customize the game's memory allocation. Normally I use a bat file and the jar version of the launcher.. but.. hmm I might just be forgetting some alternative method..

Anyone know how to get that working? I've got 16gb of ram on this system, and I always get better performance out of Minecraft with 2-4gb allocated. lol

Try disabling AA/AF as they do not work correctly in the preview.
If still not OK, then it is the vanilla bug: https://mojang.atlas.../browse/MC-1794

Sadly, disabling them didn't help. It probably is relatd to a vanilla bug... BUT it could also be something with the new Texture updates, not being compatible with the way Optifine does things, or Optifine isn't resized for the new setup? :/ Just wild guesses..

With Optifine A7 installed on 1.5.1 (and the previous versions on 1.5.0 too) I get lots of gaps between blocks. Above ground only at certain angles, but when inside a building or underground, it's pretty bad..

Is there any way to fix the purple outline some blocks have when using Optifine?

I see this problem mostly with modded-in-blocks, like RedPower2 for example. Most of the terrain-blocks RedPower2 adds, like Basalt, have a horribly obvious purple outline along the edges of the blocks. But it's not limited to mods..
I also see this problem sometimes in Vanilla Minecraft with only Optifine installed. Blocks like Netherbrick seem to have a thin crack/outline along the edges, with lava or fire barely visible inside, which is odd, like the block is filled with lava. Some items also have weird floating lines around them, when dropped or held.

I don't believe it's my computer, or something I did wrong. I've tested it on 2 seperate computers. It's just a slight rendering glitch, which seems like it shouldn't be too hard to solve. =/ But it's bad enough that I have to stop using Optifine, when I'm working around blocks with those glitches.

I'm SO GLAD there is now a "Multi-Core + AA" version! Never has the game looked THIS GOOD! =D

Hope we continue to get a multi-core AA version! THANKS!

BTW, I have noticed some "cracks" between blocks when connected textures is turned on, specifically when in a large library like room. Cracks between all bookshelve blocks.

Keep in mind.. Version 7 is NOT a stable version and whom ever told you that doesn't understand how JAVA works. Your not gaining anything with that version either since MC is based off the latest version 6._x.. which in this case is 31.

No worries, I may not be an expert on much, but I've been a General IT Consultant for a few years. So I at least know what you meant. And actually you gave what I needed to fix my problem.. So thanks for that. Sometimes it's easy to get stubern, and not try an easy solution I might have missed. The ego of a troubleshooter, I suppose. =/

I'm using Java 7, and the SDK as well, for server performance (which does seem to help my server btw). And after I raised java's memory to 2GB (which I foolishly assumed was not possible on 32bit) in the control panel (which I forgot about, since I've been focusing on the memory allocation in the client launcher command line BAT file) it actually appears to have fixed my Out of Memory crashes almost completely, on Normal render distance. (Haven't tried Far yet, but that's next. heh Not getting my hopes up.)

Java 7 may not be what you call "stable", but it does seem to work just fine, even for me and my less-than-ideal situation.

Also, someone suggested I use the MT version of OptiFine.. And I'm REALLY impressed with how well it works. Last time I tried that, a while back, it only gave me a black screen.. But now it works better than the other versions, and I tweaked my graphics card settings a bit, and no more flashy-pistons or weird transparent rendering flashes.

So again, THANKS! ^_^ Sorry if it was frustraiting..

Well, this is the first time I've ever gotten MT version to work. But now with that, and increasing Java's control pannel memory size, even without increasing the launcher over 1gb (cause it can't), I seem to be getting better performance and I haven't had an Out of Memory crash for like 20 minutes so far.

So thanks for the help guys. I still think maybe there's something not quite right in the normal versions, cause those never gave me that problem before 1.2.3, but at least things seem to be working better now with MT, and possibly the memory increase.

    Ok, couple issues...

"1gig of ram is MORE than enough to run this game, on max settings."

This is correct ONLY if you do not MOD the game.

"Unfortunetly for me, my biggest problem right now, is that my system, while not old and has great specs, is still 32bit Windows. (I hope to fix that someday, but installing the OS and everything from scratch, is quite a hassle.) I've got plenty of ram, 4gb, but Java only allows 1gig per program. =/"

First off, 32-Bit JAVA DOES allow more then 1 gig, and that video shows you how. I know that it will because I have personally tested it.

Also make sure your running LATEST version of JAVA. ( 6_31 is the latest that I know of that is stable. Version 7 is unstable )

and your not getting use of all your video card and system ram. Why ? Because your still using 32 Bit. 32-Bit limits you to only 3.8 gigs TOTAL ram. This includes your video card. YES.. your video card ram has to be totalled with your system ram. ( You may have 5 gigs total, but a 32-Bit OS limits you to ONLY 3.8 gigs of it. ) The OS will take from the video card and add it to your system ram. But doesn't report it like that. I'll repeat, 32-Bit OS will only use a total of 3.8 gigs ram. Even if you installed 32 Gigs.. 64-Bit allows 128 gigs.

64-Bit is the only way around this issue. So yes your correct, you'll need to do a fresh install.

Another problem it COULD be is memory corruption by the hardware failing. I have seen this happen a couple times personally before. So this could be the other reason your having soo many OpenGL frame lag issues. ( Out of memory has been known to cause the hardware to not handle the OpenGL graphics content correctly. This happens a lot of 32 Bit OSes. ) Try taking the memory out, clean all dust off of it and putting it back in. This has solved many problems because DUST is the number one killer of computers.

I run a small business fixing computers for people. And I have great customer reviews from it. I have a lot of exprience in this.

Alrighty, I'll attempt to follow that guide to raise java's ram above 1gb, but I believe I tried in the past, and it wouldn't let me.. And people have told me in the past that I can't do that on 32bit. =/
EDIT: Ok, I CAN raise it in the Java control to 2gb, but I can't raise the launcher command line above 1gb. Not sure if it will help, but I'll wait and see..

I also might give the MT version a try, just to see if it works any better for me.

Also, I've been using Java 7 for a while now, because it was originally suggested as a fix for this problem back in the 1.7.3 days, but it hasn't really done much good recently.. From what I've heard, Java 7 is considered their latest stable now.. but maybe not. =/ I seem to remember 6 also having the problem.

Anyway I'll try a few more things myself.. But again, my point was that OptiFine didn't have this problem so severely in 1.1 and I don't get these crashes as much in vanilla minecraft (as long as I keep it on Normal distance).

Most likely your running out of JAVA ram.

This guy did a good job on his video tutorial on how to raise your java ram. However, you MUST have more ram, then what you type in there. so for example.. if you only have 2 gigs ram.. then raise your java to only 1500 instead of 2048 like everyone else whom has more ram will do. I have 8 gigs of ram on my system.. but I only need to raise my JAVA to 4 gigs.. so I set the number to 4096. Yes, its in multples of 8.. if you dont want to do the math.. IM me and i'll help you out.

Sorry, I've done all that, many times. I an not new to dealing with this issue. My post was simply to address that OPTIFINE, has some issue that is causing a LOT more of these "Out of Memory" crashes, than normal minecraft does, and more than the previous versions of Optifine did. (Normally Optifine makes it happen less often for me, not more.) I'm hoping this issue can be fixed soon, cause I used Optifine to make the game run better, and right now it's not. =/

Unfortunetly for me, my biggest problem right now, is that my system, while not old and has great specs, is still 32bit Windows. (I hope to fix that someday, but installing the OS and everything from scratch, is quite a hassle.) I've got plenty of ram, 4gb, but Java only allows 1gig per program. =/
I've made posts about this in the past.. Because some versions of Minecraft, including some recent snapshots, don't have ANY out of memory crashes at all, even for me. But the bug keeps coming back. 1gig of ram is MORE than enough to run this game, on max settings.. Or at least it should be.. It's just that Jeb and the other programmers don't seem to care about 32bit users, so they never bother addressing this occasional reoccuring bug. =/ (64bit doesn't fix the problem, it just pushes it back so it's less noticable.)

So I've done some tests, I removed OptiFine (restored the default Jar), and played for a while on Normal render distance. No Out of Memory crashes, at least for the last 20 minutes. I re-install OptiFine, lowered some performance and graphical settings, turned off fog, and still leave the game on Normal render distance.. But I get Out of Memory crashes every 5 minutes, or sometimes even more often.

That's the issue I'm trying to bring up right now. =/ Thank you for trying to help tho, I understand that normally it's a simple fix, for 64bit users, but really the game shouldn't be filling up ram so carelessly. lol

With Optifine installed, and even with some settings lowered below default.. I'm experiencing a higher rate of "Out of Memory" crashes, than without Optifine installed. =/

1.2.3 has had this problem by itself a lot worse than previous versions, heck even some of the snapshots didn't have ANY for me.. But now the problem is worse. Usually Optifine makes it better for me, but it seems to be every 5 minutes now.. =/
