Well, if you would have looked further back into the thread, there are download links for 1.6.2 resource packs containing updated R3D Craft texture packs. The updates are supplied by General_207. Just look at the 2nd post on page 123. Those links are the updated texturepack. They ARE for 1.6 and they ARE resource packs. I vote that you don't change it to a resource pack, because it is already done.

I was working on the diamond texture again, and I wanted to know what you guys think of this one.

Also, here is a slight fix for the current default diamond texture. The spacing wasn't even.

This is pretty much my version of the Faithful texture pack. I always thought that people where mildly crazy for using faithful, and I thought that I could do a better job without much effort, so a made a couple of textures... then I never stopped. I've gotten to the point now where I'd really appreciate some detailed and nitpicking critiques, especially considering that this is my first attempt at 32x textures.
I currently have most of the blocks and items done along with some random bits. I'm also using the fonts and art of some other artists (credited at the bottom of the post).
